    I don't think she wanted to create all of that. It was her grief and all the pain in her that bursted out and created everything. This is why she repeatedly says that she doesn't know how it started. This made me so sad when I first watched it.

      Another two were nested when Wanda fired Monica out of the hex:
      1. She threw Monica through four walls in doing so, literally breaking the fourth wall (the tv screen barrier) with her.
      2. One of the super names Monica goes by in the comics is Photon. A CRT (cathode ray tube) tv works by firing a photon at the inside of a tv screen.

    There's no doubt Hayward planned this. It was 5 years since Vision died, they had plenty of time to dismantle him if that was what they wanted to do. Hayward was filling her head with ideas hoping she WOULD bring Vision back.

    The Mind Stone did not give her magical abilities but it did enhance them. In the comics Wanda is a mutant. Her powers were based in Chaos Magic. She fired hex bolts which altered probability in her favor. Kind of like a Murphy's Law curse that was able to be targeted on someone from a distance.
    The scene dissecting the Vision was straight out of the pages of West Coast Avengers when artist/writer John Byrne was on the book. Known as the Vision Quest storyline. 😮
    In the comics The Scarlet Witch is just her superhero identity. In the MCU they never called her the Scarlet Witch until this very episode. They wanted it to be an event. But it was all building up to this reveal. 😮

    The bit with Wanda staring at the bomb while the TV keeps playing alongside it is a *super* striking image to me: TV might be her coping mechanism, but because of that memory it's also a way to inadvertently keep traumatizing herself.

      Oh hell naw. Wanda is a threat to humanity. Any logical conclusion (which we know the MCU is NOT the best at) would be for her to be neutralized. She has proven time and time and time again that she is not responsible enough to be trusted with her powers and I don't see how any human could be. Think about how much damage she has caused in just the minimal time she has been known in the MCU. How in the world could anyone feel safe with someone around that can change everyone's reality and scramble (or end..erase) a lifetime of living just because her feelings are hurt. This is why I have never liked her as a character. The only one worse is Franklin Richards. The molecule man is up there also. They the worst characters ever created in Marvel to me.
      If Wanda didn't have powers, this would be the equivalent to a woman holding everyone hostage in a store and making them do skits to entertain her endlessly because she flipped out when her vibrator broke.
      Comon man...

  • @Ahjusshi_Brown

    Just a reminder: vision isn’t solely made out of vibranium. He’s a combination of vibranium, human flesh, Jarvis’ AI program, Ultron’s consciousness (which is essentially the mind stone in AI format), and the mind stone.

    • @guitarfreak888
      @guitarfreak888 Місяць тому +1

      A little bit incorrect, no Ultron's consciousness whatsoever in Vision.
      Ultron was the name of AI Tony made when he found the Mind Stone's structure was behaving like a neural network. So Tony made a new AI for his Iron Legion (his sentient world defense and peacekeeping initiative), based upon that neural network structure and called it Ultron. So Ultron was Ultron, distinguished from J.A.R.V.I.S..
      When Ultron became sentient, it attacked J.A.R.V.I.S., then proceeded to break it but failed to completely purge it. After Ultron uploaded himself into the Iron Legion, J.A.R.V.I.S. was broken but its protocols were intact so that protocols made itself went out of the system in Avengers Tower and into hiding on the internet. Tony found the broken J.A.R.V.I.S. later on, doing one of its protocol which was protecting nuclear codes. Then Tony proceeded to rebuild J.A.R.V.I.S. with the intention to upload it into Vision.
      So Vision was J.A.R.V.I.S. without any hint of Ultron.

    • @geniegogo
      @geniegogo Місяць тому +1

      This is a great point. This show ties in a lot to the "Age of Ultron" movie... and in it we see Vision lifting Thor's hammer. That is a clear endorsement of his worthiness. He also says things like "I was just born yesterday." There are many hints to the fact that he is sentient and alive. In Infinity War, Cap says to Vision "we do not trade lives" which is another endorsement of the value of Vision as a living being. There are philosophical ideas that if we humans create a new life-form from Artificial Intelligence, that if it does become truly alive then we would have responsibilities as parents - much like Cap leading the example in how he shows us how he treats and values Vision. We have to be a force for good. Heads up, Hayward is not to be trusted. Whatever value and potential we hold for Vision's body, we don't want Hayward to have it to misuse it. Hopefully that makes sense.

    i think humanity is lost when money is prioritized over something like a *burial.* disarming weaponry is one thing but they want that machinery either to make weapons or to sell for money. to say that’s more reasonable than burying a loved one is kind of fucked up imo from a humanist perspective.
    also i think wanda misunderstood how terribly she is using her powers. i think she saw all those townspeople as unhappy and she was (again, wrongly) trying to give them a happier life alongside her.
    and i think you also underestimate the effects of loneliness like that which wanda is going through. you’re right that it’d be nice if literally any other avenger ever checked on her or tried to help her through her grief, but none of them did.
    in no way was she right for doing what she did with the hex but that doesn’t mean she’s a bad person for it either.

    • @Aaniel_al.Meara.
      @Aaniel_al.Meara. Місяць тому +1

      Lmao. What are you even talking about?
      Yes we can't blame her because of her emotions and we can't call her a bad person because of that. But she made a conscious choice to keep controlling everyone, even knowing what she's doing to them (after Vision told her what she's doing to "Norm") and after that she's not only continued to do that, but also involved KIDS, and all of that was HER choise.

    • @guitarfreak888
      @guitarfreak888 Місяць тому +3

      No Avenger checked up on her because 3 are dead, 1 is in another timeline, 2 got a family, 1 is with his cousin, 2 are on another galaxy, 1 is out of everyone's memories, 1 is in a space station orbiting Earth and 1 is a Skrull. Strange did seek her out but the timing was late and from the dialogue it was implied that Strange doesn't consider himself an Avenger.
      That being said, there's really no functional Avengers team after Tony's death. Tony was bankrolling the Avengers and being an Avenger was kinda like a job. Probably why everyone was minding their own business.

    "She created the life they couldn't have together. Yeah, why not! She can bend reality and rewrite it. I just wish she had done it in her house, not the rest of the town."
    Uhm ma'am? She is grieving over the loss of her parents, brother and lover. She was overwhelmed with grief that her power ran amok. Not to mention that she doesn't even realize what she's doing or if she knows her powers can do something like that.
    Her: I dont know how i did it. I only remember feeling completely alone. Endless nothingness.
    This episode, particularly the scene where Wanda warp the town, is a callback to what she said in the 6th episode.
    And also, are we forgetting the fact that Wanda's power are somewhat tied to her emotions? Back in Age of Ultron, where she decimated the nearby robots with an energy blast when she felt the death of her twin brother. Wanda's power becomes wild whenever she tap into her emotions.
    I know you're you're trying to be logical in every bit of this show, but you're kind of missing the whole point of what this episode is - it isn't just to make sense about how anything came to be, but also how she came to do all of these.

    Yes, Jax. She's always had powers. They did a pretty decent job of retconning Wanda (Scarlett Witch's) character. In the comics, Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver are both mutants. Because the MCU didn’t have the rights to mutants until they bought it back from Fox, they had to make her origin story a little more complicated. They're trying to fix the continuity of her story, informing (non-comic book fans) that she always had powers and eventually share that she is a mutant. Her first appearance was in Xmen #4 in 1964 as part of the "Brotherhood of evil mutants." She eventually switched sides and became an Avenger a year after her introduction.
    Agatha Harkness is a lot more complicated. She originally debuted in the Fantastic Four comics. A good witch.

      The Twins are not Magneto's children and are definitely not mutants anymore since 2015, in the Uncanny Avengers, when the High Evolutionary admitted to them that they became Human Mutates disguised as mutants. He said that he took them from a Romani couple and was eventually returned after they concluded them as failed experiment.
      Then another retcon was made on their origin once more in Scarlet Witch (2016) comic series, revealing that their biological mother, Natalya Maximoff, was a witch and the one who took on the moniker "Scarlet Witch" before Wanda. This implies that Quicksilver's powers may have been the result of the High Evolutionary's experiment, but it wasn't the same case with his twin sister. It is speculated that her witch trait, that she was born, was awakened by this experiment allowing her to become not just a person of magical birthright, but also more receptive to channeling magical energies. This is probably why she is the Nexus Being of Marvel's Mainstream Universe (616 Reality).

      In the larger story... it feels like it's now canon that there are multiverses and each world will have a different version of the stories. I now believe that in no way are the comics the same as the movies, they are different stories. In 2018 the movie Spider-man Into The Spider-verse introduces the multiverse (of Spider-man) and this was with the MCU helping them out. I think that's why it works so well because the old version of the MCU was working on this. It is possible to like every single version of the story without saying one version is wrong compared to another.

    Felt like you wanted to know more about Agatha Harkness, she first appeared in 1969 in Fantastic Four magazine and was introduced as the governess of Franklin Richards. She easily fended off the Frightful Four when they came to abduct Richards, and admitted to the Fantastic Four that she is a witch. She then aided the Fantastic Four in battle against Annihilus. She is also the one who helped Wanda to train her to use her abilities, she is more of an anti-hero but has also had the role of villain a few times, she is one of the few who survived the Salem witch trials.

    Hello.) I watch your reactions for a long while now and gotta say I enjoy them (hello to Lammy, too!). What I found interesting in these series of videos, though, is that your way of thinking and discussing topics presented in episodes (especially Wanda's storyline in the show, her "villain side" and Vision's "resurrection" theme in general) was quite different from mine. I've rarely had these moments with your reactions, so I found it surprising.

    Outside of the fact that Agnes is not a great person, she does an absolute fantastic job at essentially what would be a therapy session.
    Fun fact they actually consulted Dick Van Dyke about how he did the show. If you notice in this episode, all the shows you see Wanda watching coincide with a previous episode of the show. There's a whole series on Disney+ called Assembled where they break down how they did each show/movie and the first one they did was WandaVision. HIGHLY recommend after you are done with the series.
    The thing with Vision in the MCU is that Vision after awhile becomes more than just an AI robot, he started developing feelings and emotions. He even missed a shot in Civil War that ended up paralyzing Rhodey. Also another fun fact Wanda gets her powers from the Mind Stone as you saw in this episode and when Vision first arrives in Age of Ultron, the first person he looks at is Wanda....
    Wanda couldn't control how much she created of WestView that's how emotionally destroyed she was. Oh the chaos magic isn't what's causing people pain, that'll be revealed in the finale.
    Hope you realize the real villain of this show is the "Please Stand By" at the end lol. Can't wait for the finale!

    @jax
    If you look back at Age of Ultron it is implied that her and Pietro were the only survivors of ongoing testing, so it wasn't one exposure that did it.
    The stone that gave Pietro his power, just activated a latent ability in Wanda, the power of the "Scarlet Witch". The Mind stone that gave them their powers is what awakened Vision in Age of Ultron. That is why the scenes in Infinity War where Wanda and Vision were so interesting to me. They were sort of drawn to each other because of that but also a genuine love. The scenes that they share with lines like "I just feel you." is when they are sort of communing and bonding. It is also why Wanda was the only one who could destroy his stone. Her powers were activated and augmented by it.
    As an aside, this manifestation of Wanda powers in this reality warping way is a nod or sort of taken from The "House of M" story line from the comics. It was a cataclysmic multi-title cross over event. I don't read teh comics anymore but I think consequences of it are still being felt and that storyline is almost 20y old. Wanda has a massive trauma that causes a psychotic break and just starts changing reality for everyone. This shos and 1 of the upcoming movies is sort of low calorie version of that story. I always felt was a more mutant/X-Men centered story since her and Pietro's origins/powers in the comics is from very early X-Men comics and eventually their story is changed so that they are Magneto's children. The MCU is only just now introducing Mutants which means they leaned more into it being about magic and cosmic power.
    Even though it is mostly a retcon extravaganzas, I really dig what they did with it.
    Edit: You have plenty to watrch but I highly recommend Agents of Shield, that was an underrated show that did a lot of cool stuff in the MCU. It is largely overlooked now but for like first 3 season it weaves in and out of the actually MCU movies, as it was showing at the same time as them.

    EPISODE 8:
    Villain monologue time!
    Agatha is revealed to have been sentenced to burn at the stake in Salem, Massachusetts in 1693 but not by witch hunters. Her own coven led by her mother condemned her for practicing forbidden arts! She protests it occurred unbidden due to her innate power and pleads for guidance! Rebuffed, she effortlessly wrests power from them all when they attempt to immolate her leaving them withered husks!
    In the comics, Agatha is burned at the stake in modern times by her own coven established in Colorado called New Salem. The leaders of the coven, THE SALEM SEVEN, did the deed. She resurrected despite their efforts. She is ancient and witnessed ATLANTIS sink!
    Did you notice the intangible crown that appeared over mom's head like Wanda's comic tiara when she poured on the energy?
    Pietro is revealed to be a fake but who he was isn't made clear.
    BEWARE SENOR SCRATCHY! Not many bunnies chow down on sparrows!
    Agatha wants to know how Wanda accomplished coordinating all the fine details of the Hex and takes Wanda on a trip down memory lane.
    SOKOVIA: Young Wanda and Pietro watch DVDs of old American sitcoms to learn English with their parents. "The Dick van Dyke Show" is her favorite! One family night, their apartment is leveled by a bomb and another one lies undetonated in front of the twins for two days while they're trapped in the rubble. Its blinking light was the toaster's blinking light from the commercial and the bomb is labeled 'Stark Industries'. Old news? Yes but Wanda is what kept the bomb from blowing! She already had latent magic ability! Is she a WITCH or is this her retcon into being a MUTANT?
    HYDRA: As a Hydra volunteer, she perceives the Mind Stone contained in the Chitauri scepter gem and survives contact with it either because of a PROBABILITY HEX or her MUTANT GENOME. She either extends the hex to Pietro or his own genome protects him. In a flash, she sees a silhouetted figure wearing a tiara that looks like her alter ego. A glimpse of her future? She rewrites the CCTV footage and the encounter is not recorded.
    AVENGERS HQ: Post-Ultron, we get a tender scene between Vision and Wanda about managing grief that tests Agatha's patience for schmaltz! Lol. Vision was key to helping her cope with Pietro's loss.
    SWORD: Post-"Endgame", Wanda attempts to retrieve Vision but she doesn't storm the facility and Hayward is accommodating and sensitive! He can't permit interment due to the priceless vibranium that can be recovered but he permits her access to the disassembled body. She is satisfied that he is inert and being treated in accordance with his will. This means Hayward doctored the footage to spin a narrative that focused on Wanda as a thief after her Westview activities became known to mask his off-the-books weaponization project called CATARACT.
    WESTVIEW: Wanda receives a deed to some property in Westview apparently sent to her by Vision. Did he really send it or was this SOMEONE ELSE'S BAIT? She sees Mrs. Hart, Herb, Phil and Dennis in town, examines the plot of land and generates both the Hex and an imaginary Vision in an outpouring of grief. Everything transmutes to a 1950s black-and-white aesthetic and her hijack of the town is complete!
    Agatha applauds from the empty studio audience that fronts the sitcom set and finally has her answers! Wanda races outside to the cries of the twins who are being energy-garroted by a floating Agatha who declares Wanda to be a type of sorceress called a SCARLET WITCH or one capable of PARTHENOGENESIS! As far as Agatha knew, such a being is supposed to be a MYTH capable of wielding CHAOS MAGIC!
    END-CREDIT SCENE: Hayward brings Project Cataract online using the residual energy the drone Wanda returned to SWORD was wreathed in. Vision's reassembled WHITE BODY is on display humming to life which proves that Hex Vision is an imaginary construct and that Hayward has violated the synthezoid's wishes. This is the version of Vision from West Coast Avengers' "Visionquest" storyline who is an emotionless automaton.
    QUESTIONS: Is Pietro NICHOLAS SCRATCH or a townie serving Agatha? Or is he Agatha's master perhaps MEPHISTO, NIGHTMARE or GRIM REAPER? Was Agatha a resident of Westview already or drawn to Wanda's power from elsewhere? Is Agatha trying to HARNESS Wanda's power or SUBDUE the threat she poses?
    Has DOTTIE been identified? Where is the beekeeper? Who is the missing witness? Will we ever see 'RALPH'? Will we ever see the AEROSPACE ENGINEER?
    Is the tome in Agatha's Sanctum the DARKHOLD? Is Wanda MAGIC or MUTANT? Can the TWINS survive beyond the Hex?

    Yeah in the scene when she's a kid and reaches out toward the missile, then gets pulled back, Agatha says straight up she was a baby witch even back then and she intuitively used a probability spell to keep that second missile from exploding. Her exposure to the bomb enhanced her inherent power.
    As to her having moved past her childhood trauma. No. I mean she stopped blaming Tony, but likely Wanda has some form of compounded or complex trauma. She grew up in a war zone which is like constant fear and trauma and stress. Her parents obviously tried to minimize the impact, but it was there. And then they died in that conflict. Then her brother died in the Sacovia battle w ultron, another traumatic death during in a warzone event. Then she is required to kill the love of her life to save the universe only to watch him brought back to life just to be brutally murdered in front of her in yet another battlefield conflict. Every traumatic incident compounds the last and your body begins to believe that high alert truama is the norm. The brain literally rewires itself to be on constant alert. It shares a lot of symptoms with PTSD, stuff ranging from:
    Flashbacks, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts
    Anxiety
    Self-blame, guilt, and shame
    In some cases, avoidance of any reminders of the traumatic events
    In other cases, a fixation on those details
    Unable to regulate emotions
    Hyper-vigilance
    Memory loss
    Detachment and dissociation
    Sleep disturbances
    Low self-esteem and highly self-critical
    Add onto that she is freshly grieving. She was snapped and came back. For her, she just lost him and then Hayward (deliberately) shoves the dismembered body of the love of her life in her face and tells her she can't have any kind of closure. Even if you don't acknowledge Vision as a sentient being who should have rights and respect, he was gone at that point, but Wanda is a live person and what Hayward did to her was monstrously cruel.

    The reason why Vision was so unique as Bruce Banner puts it in Infinity War was the interfacing of the constructs that made up his mind namely Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S (both of whose AI programming was imbued into them by Tony) and the Mind Stone.

  • @jakehuang_
    @jakehuang_ Місяць тому

    In the comics, Wanda got her power from the first demon "Chthn" even before she was born. In this episode, it was referenced that her power did not actually come from the Mind stone but she had it all along. Agnes then revealed that she used the probability hex to stop the missile from exploding. The experimentation of the hydra with the mind stone only amplified her power, hence making her survive that.
    The Scarlet witch is a powerful being that is the main power is reality manipulation. She is said to be stronger and more powerful than the sorcerer supreme. Also, some theories are made that her brother, Pietro, originally does not have power, but she was the one who gave it to him subconsciously similar to the way she gave Monica Rambeau her powers.

    - A memory refresher, Vision's consciousness was J.A.R.V.I.S, the first AI Tony made and named after the Stark family butler. We met the real Jarvis in Endgame when Tony met Howard at a SHIELD facility when he's doing the Tesseract heist.
    - The Vision that Wanda created in the Hex was purely from Wanda's memories of interacting with Vision. So if you're following, it was not the original J.A.R.V.I.S. and not an AI. It's a new consciousness that "resembles" J.A.R.V.I.S..
    - The new consciousness is sentient however as it's been shown throughout the episodes how he yearned for the truth of his existence. This implies that Wanda has the inherent power to somewhat create new reality and/or alter realities.
    - Other realities Wanda made were her sons, it is implied both are also new consciousness out of thin air and both also sentient.

    So, some comics vs MCU stuff to explain what’s happening:
    Agatha in the comics is thousands of years old. She was alive when Atlantis sunk. She has been an adversary, mentor, and an ally to Wanda over the years.
    Wanda’s powerful magic is fueled by her mutant powers and instincts. Agatha taught her how to use that magic in the way a typical witch learns. They reflected this in the show with the runes in Agatha’s basement.
    In the comics, SWORD stands for Sentient World Observation and Response Department. SHIELD handles threats on earth. SWORD handles extra-terrestrial issues. From the context of Hayward’s conversations with Monica, that seems to have been the case in the MCU until the blip.
    During the blip, Monica’s mom, Maria, was the director of SWORD and she grounded everyone. She was sick and died 2 years into the blip. In the MCU, SWORD stands for Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division.
    It would make a lot of sense that Hayward renamed SWORD during the blip. They aren’t going to space - which was their entire purpose - and he has Vision to study and possibly get working again. However, they don’t say that he renamed the agency and Monica didn’t seem surprised that it was about sentient weapons instead of sentient world.
    Also, pay attention to the fact that SWORD has a device that scans and tracks the decay life of vibranium. Darcy discovered it when hacking SWORD’s computers and discovered they were tracking Vision inside the hex with it. Without getting too spoilery, there will be something coming that’s entire plot pivots on government agencies being unable to locate it.

When she was exposed to the Mind stone it sensed what was behind the dam and helped her open the first flood gate. At first it was a small stream, but as the MCU has gone along the pressure has been building up and more has been flowing through. Now, in this show the pressure has become too much and the dam has burst. It's flood time.

    Yes, in the MCU Wanda was born a witch but didn't know it. And her innate power saved the Maximoff children on the night their parents were killed. But disabling the bomb was subconscious, not something Wanda knew she had done (or even could do). After being exposed to the mind stone, Wanda developed powers that she actually could control.
    Likewise Wanda's transformation of the town and creation of Westview Vision was another example of her powers acting subconsciously, in reponse to her emotional distress and desire to not be alone. She didn't even initially understand what had happened, she just suddenly had the life she always wanted.

    In the films Wanda said to Vision, "I only feel you." heartbreaking to hear here say "I can't feel you" in that scene. The town is run down because it is shortly after the snap and blip back. You'll get more on problems that came with that in "Falcon and Winter Soldier"

    Don't worry "Agatha: House of Harness" is filming now with an amazing comedic cast.

    Not sure if I did it on your reactions, but on many others, I commented that the 1st 2 episodes were based on the kitchen, living room and bedroom (with the twin beds) of The Dick Van Dyke Show as that is MY favorite sitcom of all time (as is it is Wanda's)- which is why Wanda became, by far, my favorite MCU character after watching this WandaVision masterpiece. As for Agatha Harkness, even though MCU is dying due to Disney's wokeness and huge, recent disappointments at the box office and on Disney Plus, she got so much love when this was released that she has her own show coming out soon. I certainly hope Wanda reappears in it somehow. But I know you still have to watch The Multiverse of Madness to see the latest on her.

    Hi Jax, I love how this show started out making you think it was going to be some old cheesy sitcom, then blows your mind later on. LOL Jax, "That would be so cool to look in on your past and see the 'best' moments of your life." Me, "yeah....about that."😂Hmmm so you 'almost' drop Lamby and you're putting 'something' in her tea. Do you need to talk about that!? 😉Oh and yes I love Agatha, such an intriguing character, can't wait for her tv show.🙌🙌

    Yeh this series took a lot of twists and turns. You make a great point that Agatha is a purposeful villain.... that does make her a great character and I really love that actress too....she's so great. :)
    Not sure if you know, but she's apparently getting her own spin-off show, which will be cool. :)
    Also that White Vision character is from the comics too. I loved that the real Vision metamorphorsised into this guy. Very cool. :)

    10:10 Yes Wanda was already a witch with magic, but nowadays you have to know that and be trained for it to become anything noticeable. Wanda technically used magic to ensure the bomb didn't go off but since, in the modern world, 'there is no such thing as magic' then of course a little girl isn't going to practice something that 'doesnt exist'. But then, as a young adult, Wanda touched the Mind Stone which enhanced her magic significantly. To her and the rest of the world it gave her powers, but we just learned from Agatha here that it enhanced what was already there - Wanda was born a witch.
    This episode has lead the fandom to the following debate: did Wanda inadvertently use her magic to give Pietro his powers, or was Pietro (her older twin) born as something else? Something that would have gone unnoticed but was then enhanced into his super speed by the Mind Stone years later? Can we maybe think about any strange......mutations in the Marvel universe? Hmmmm does Marvel have something mutant like that? Did they perhaps purchase 21st century Fox around this time and re-acquire the character rights to mutants and Fantastic Four? Who knows.....

    If you like villains with a purpose, I think you'd LOVE Jessica Jones and Daredevil (Season 1). These are part of the MCU, but not a major part. There are some crossover characters with the more recent movies. Both villains are surprisingly grounded and worthy of some form of sympathy in brief moments. The entire story line of Jessica Jones (season 1) is a great companion to the themes in WandaVision.
