- Great song from Elton John written by Lesley Duncan, who is sadly no longer with us.It was featured on his album "Tumblewwed Connection" from 1970.It is the only song from Elton not featuring piano, and that he did not write or play on.Lesley Duncan wrote this and played guitar and sang on the album version.
Thanks for sharing this underrated classic, George. Lesley is sadly missed.
I think we all seen Elton John maybe ten times growing up and you are the man here George, Your music always sounds Good!!
I can remember hearing Pinball Wizard by Elton, and The Who.I was sitting on a bar stool both times too.
Love this Elton John song, I had forgotten about it. Great cover of it George. Great harmonies. Well done my friend - John
Thank you so much ♥️, please share this as much as you can and follow me up if you really like it💖
Thank you Tabura for a wonderful comment, very much appreciated.
wonderful recording George of this great old song....top notch harmonies
great rendition for a great tune. thanks George ! Wonderful arrangement as always !
I think this is one of your best vocal mixes for multiple harmonies--seamless.
That was very good...the playing, singing...all of it!
Thank you Rich915 for a wonderful comment and compliment, very much appreciated my friend.
Great cover of this lovely tune, my friend!
Bravo!
Warmest regards
Excellent. Great song and wonderful interpretation.

Beautifully done Shargram, loved the harmonies, they were spot on. If you haven't already done so, I bet you could do amazing versions of Elton's "Sixty Years On" and "Your Song".
Another nice song for you. I hope I am not repeating myself. great job.
Belle prestation ..Nice and cool..Good guitare and voices..! Bravo my friend..Regards Jean louis
wow, you nailed it, caught the wistful melancholy of the guitar and vocal harmony. Well done, sir.
Good job. Great playing and singing and love those harmonies.
Great job on this song, lovely harmonies ~ Well done George ~ All the very best, Geoff
Thank you, very much appreciated my friend. It would make a good pub quiz question-what song of Elton John has no piano on it.Lesley Duncan was a very talented lady in her own right. She played, sang, and wrote some memotable songs, and this is one of them.
Great song George...and you've covered it really well. Enjoyed the listen....Jagdish
Love this. The harmonies are really good too. Thank you
Thank you mr.mike h for a wonderful comment, very much appreciated.
Thank you, very much appreciated my friend. It's such a good song and the fact that Elton does not play on it makes it more interesting.
Beautiful performance, George. Love the harnonies!
great job, love the harmonies - talented guy...wish i could sing as well as you George.
Great harmonies my friend. So beautiful sound.
Just beautiful, George! Your harmonies and guitar are always so excellent! Your friend and fan!
that is a great song and like you said not penned by Elton himself...good job on the guitar and your vocals is superb as aways!!
Thanks Sylvia, much appreciated. It's an old song from Elton in which he did not play or wtite. It was played by the writer Lesley Duncan.
Hey George, Well done. I went back to listen to your collab with Babs on this song. Sounded great there, sounds great here too.
I'd forgotten which artist recorded it but not the song. No wonder I couldn't find it, never would have guessed Elton even though I had that albumn years ago. Great job man. Thanx for posting.
Thank you, very much appreciated, and I very much agree with you about Lesley.
Thanks Richard, very much appreciated.Sadly the girl who wrote this song has passed away a while back, but Lesley Duncan was a fine songwriter.
Thanks Robin, much appreciated.I don't do many of Elton's songs, not because I don't like him, because I think he is amazing, but because his piano playing is almost impossible to emulate.
Damn you're sounding good George. The vocal harmonies again are just gorgeous.
Thank you my friend, much appreciated. It's from an old Elton John album called Tumbleweed Connection from 1970.
fantastic! and I enjoyed the bits of trivia in the description, as well.
Lovely version George . I enjoyed it very much.
Cheers
Paul
Great George, one of my favorite songs from Tumbleweed Connection. Did a collab with Duckscli (Duncan) a while back on this one. -Ron
Thank you so much for a wonderful compliment, very much appreciated my friend.
Thank you so much for a wonderful compliment, much appreciated.
Thanks Babs, as always very much appreciated. It was seeing your version of this song that brought it to my attention, so thanks again.
Well done George !
Thanks John, much appreciated my friend.
Thank you my friend, very much appreciated. You can repeat yourself as often as you like, thank you again.
you never cease to amaze me my friend, that was amazing!!
Thank you, very much appreciated.I did'nt do a collab with Babs on this song, she did it solo. And a fine job she did on it, as usual.I have done a few collabs with Babs, but not on this one. When I heard her version of it, she brought it to my attention.I did know the song but had overlooked it until I head Babs do it.
First time to hear this song, its beautiful, and your cover is great ;D
Thank you Gary, very much appreciated my friend. Will check out your originals Gary.
Awesome performance! Terry
I did not realize Elton John did not write this song. A great song.
O melhor que já ouvi. Parece muito a versão original.
+Douglas Teixeira Thank you Douglas for a wonderful comment my friend, very much appreciated.
Thank you Kurt, very much appreciated. This is the ONLY Elton John song which he did NOT play on.A beautiful song written and played by Lesley Duncan.
Sounds wonderful George!
I love this
Thank you Steve for a great 👍 comment, very much appreciated. It's a great song, and the only one of Elton's where does not play piano.
Thank you, very much appreciated, and you have a point there.
Thank you my friend, very much appreciated as always.
Thank you Gail, very much appreciated
Thanks Gary, very much appreciated as always my friend.
Very well done.
Wish I could play the guitar!
Thank you Barry for a great 👍 comment, very much appreciated. It's not that difficult to play, only 4 chords, but a lovely song from Leslie Duncan.Elton did a great job of it.And he realised that it only required the guitar to accompany him, he knew that was all it needed, smart guy.
Thank you, very much appreciated.I'nm not technically gifted as regards video editing.Would you please tell me what you mean, and what difference would it make to the video?
If I were up to 283 videos on my site, I am sure that I would forget one or two as well. It is there on her site in the playlist called The "Babs and Shargram" Collabs. It's a great song and might have been the one that made me aware of your channel when I first heard that recording. I just noticed by the way that you are now over 100,000 views on your channel. Nice milestone to reach. Congratulations on that!
Thanks Lynn, very much appreciated as always.
Wonderful!
Thank you La Jo Ba for a wonderful comment, very much appreciated.
Thank you my friend, very much appreciated. You'd never guess it was an Elton John song because there is no piano on it.The lady who wrote it(Lesley Duncan)played the guitar and sang harmony on it.It is so simple but beautiful.
When I was watching a while ago your video seemed to be squeezed in from the sides, which had happened to one of my videos a while back. It just corrects the video (not the audio) so it don;t look narrow. Someone told me how to change it on one of mine and it worked. Maybe it was my computers error as your video seems to be the correct ratio now on my end. I got to listen to it again anyway. Keep your videos coming. mike
Great performance! Would you kindly explain how you triggered (get) the harmony vocal to come in when it does? Thank you
Thank you Scott, very much appreciated.I don't have any video editing equipment Scott, so I rely on Windows Movie Maker(a free download).I record the harmonies on my 8-track at home, then save them as an audio file.WMM allows you to add audio to your videos, but you have to move the audio file around until it sync's with the video. It's a bit primitive, but it works. My videos, apart from one or two, are all live origin a recordings, then I add extra vocals or music via WMM.Hope this explains it ok.
Ok! Thanks for your prompt reply. Cheerz
Thanx for responding. I feel like a dufus cuz a few minutes later I figured it out. I was being lazy I guess..lol. Other covers I watched used capo and different chords so it threw me off until I put on my thinking cap.
Peace & Harmony
bri
Nice choice. Nice tune.
Thanks Steve, very much appreciated my friend.
I stand corrected, I DID collab on Babs version, my mind must be going.I did the harmony on it.If I'd remembered that I probably would not have done my version. Thanks anyway.I was'nt aware I had 100,000 views on my channel, so thanks again for the info.
Thanks Gitt, much appreciated as always.
Thanks Geoff, very much appreciated my friend as always.

Hey friend, E-G-D-G-B-E tuning? I looked at a couple others in standard tuning but it just doesnt sound "right" or full or match your fingerings. Really wanting to tune up and play along with ya. What am I missing here?
bri
Thanks Davie, much appreciated my friend.
Thank you, very much appreciated. What a very kind thing to say my friend.
you mean Elton did not write nor play on this song ? so why was it on his album then ? was he just featuring a friend of his ? or did they make the album like a band ? this version is brilliant !
Lesley Duncan was a session singer in the 70's who worked with lots of artists.Elton asked her to sing on his album Madman Across The Water in 1971.In return, Elton played piano on her first solo album "Sing Children Sing".She also worked with Dusty Springfield, and her vocals are on Pink Floyd's album Dark Side Of The Moon.Lesley died in 2010 of cerebrovascular disease following an extended illness. She was a very talented lady.
Hi George, Watching and listening again. If you go into edit for this video and add yt:stretch=16:9 in the tags the compressed horozontal video will magically be corrected. Hope this works for you, it did for me when someone pointed it out. Have a great week! mike
Thanks, much appreciated.
perfect

Not only that, but he never played on it either, a first for Elton I think.
