Well once mangas gain popularity, most artists gain employees and help to lessen the strain and improve quality and speed.
Literally everybody in dabi’s life failed him and it’s so terribly heart breaking
Edit: My god y’all I’m not blaming a literal baby(shoto). Should’ve clarified.
It’s not directly his younger siblings fault, his resentment towards them stems from his emotional neglect and physical abuse endured courtesy of Enji and rei Todoroki (yes rei, although she was abused too she also 100% neglected her children emotionally, and as a result of her severe PTSD (again, courtesy of Endeavor) she physically abused one of her kids.
Honestly all touya wanted was someone to be proud of him, specifically Endeavor because he was the biggest figure in his life. He’s a villain because when he was at his lowest he was found and saved by a villain. So it makes sense lol. Not justifying but sometimes things like this are explainable.
Did he die?
@@An-ni3lf no lmao
@@An-ni3lf no toya died Dabi is still alive
Yup. God this is like the absolute worst situation I have ever had when choosing which side I want to win. I love Touya and feel horrible for him and I can’t blame him at all for becoming what he is now I don’t want him die. But in the end he is a villain and everyone knows as a fact in the end the villains never win in any show. And I can’t see any possible way they could redeem him.
And then on the other hand you got the whole family who are all broken and feeling massive guilt and remorse for knowing they could have helped him but they didn’t and it resulted in this. They wanna fix it but wth do they think they can do?! If they confront him Rei Fuyumi and Natsu would be like flies to him. And I don’t think he would have a problem at all with killing them just to make the situation for Endeavor even worse. I don’t want them to die either I love Shoto and don’t want him to suffer more either :(
This is a no win situation for me. But I already know who will win in the end anyway. God this is gonna be a pain to watch someday x(

…my guys a genius wtf
It's not all of their fault though lol, it's just his parents. Natsuo and Fuyumi were children struggling with the same toxic environment as him, they weren't in a position to save him from his fate and never did anything cruel, they just weren't able to predict how he'd react, and Shoto didn't do anything at all to him.
Them being in the same toxic environment just further proves how at fault they are too. They should have stuck together to help each other cope. Touya vented to his brother (showing how he thought he would relate and talk and listen to him, not brush him off simply cause he got fed up with having to listen to Touya) but instead of being understanding he said something he shouldn't have and didn't even see later on (before he died) how what he said could have/DID affect Touya negatively. Idk about the sister though.
@@shadowwolf_6632 but at the same time, you have to understand they're all kids here (oldest being Touya, 13). I don't think they would've thought they "needed" to stick together to "survive."
If you think about it, they were more or less in a "toxic family relationship"; they didn't have any physical environment problems where they would've had to stick together to "survive."
It's quite difficult to explain, but they could all survive on their own and be fine (physically); they had food, clothes, and more than the necessities they needed. The only thing they really had to take care of was their mental state (which they didn't do very good with), and once things go down to mental problems. It's far more difficult than a physical problem (that's my opinion though).
@@BV-bn1pu when you put it like that I agree that it's a high possibility that was the case for the siblings but I still think what I said is also a possibility, maybe not as big as yours but still possible.
@@BV-bn1pu by possibility I mean "what should have happened"
@@shadowwolf_6632 ohhh I see, that makes sense; the family relationship of the Todoroki family wouldn't probably be as bad if that was the case.
His parents didn't even try to explain the situation to him- so you can't really blame Touya for acting out
You can’t really expect a child to understand that type of situation.
I think he knew that his quirk hurt him...Touya just didn't care but his parents did. The failure is ultimately on the parents because Endeavor in particular should have worked with Touya to find a way to use his quirk and not burn himself so he could be a hero. But you can't blame them too much because let's say you had a child who loved to run but at a young age tore their Achilles; you really don't recover from that and you might have to force the child to do something else for their own wellbeing. Parents just want their children to be safe.
Nice take L
They did explain but like his father he was bullheaded
No endeavor tried to explain over and over and over again but touya inherited his fathers stubbornness along side his dream of surpassing all might. Only thing is touya is a fucking psychopath

Right, when I read that, I almost cried, someone please tell this boy that he wasn't a mistake and that he was loved. It's a real shame, Touya really did deserved better😭😭😭
The saddest part is the fact that what happened to Touya could’ve been prevented. If Endeavor let go of his hatred and actually tried to be a father, if Rei stood up to Endeavor and talked to her child, if his siblings tried to help him, Dabi is a result of circumstances which is so tragic
No kid should have to say that😭😭😭
I really did myself dirty being a shoto and dabi stan, I was crying at 12am..😭😭
@@elijahblast7548 Nah. I doubt anything could have stopped it once Endeavour put heroics into his head. If Endeavour just said he loved him, Touya would think it to be a lie, a lie to knock out Shoto's rival. Even if they all changed mid-way I doubt Dabi could ever be saved.

All for one should try giving an ice quirk to Dabi, his body is already suited for such quirk and would improve on the use of his fire
I’ve always wondered this. You’d also think because of the nature of his birth (conceived between a fire quirk user and ice quirk user) that his body would already be biologically suited for a second ice quirk.
*But idk if you can just give away quirks like that* (might need some type of medical procedure too). Multiple quirks are what made people into nomus since they loose their brain power with just giving them quirks (except for special cases like AFO and OFA) so they needed the doctor to motify them.

She was speechless, because she realized I was right
A parent can’t get angry if their child is speaking the truth, and if they do, they’re not a good parent
By reading the latest chapter i think that the parents were selfish and messed up. They thought the problem was Touya's obsession with becoming a hero but in actuality this chapter has clearly revealed that what he wanted was to be acknowledged as a living being. He wanted his father to recognize him as his son not a tool for a means. It was never about explaining to him that there are other things he could do, but rather treat him as a child.
dabi is selfish too. His parents tried to make him understand that he couldn't be what he and his father wanted for his own sake, for his own health, he probably would never get the acknowledge of his father but he could have had focus on his mother, he could've ignored is father like so many people who grow up with bad father have to do. But yes the parents where also selfish there's no doubt about it. Dabi had a bad enveironment but, like shouto show us, he could've made better choices and live a normal life, even be a hero in his own way.
@@paulgotik that’s true, but the thing that gets me is that he was reaching out to his siblings and they ignored him

That’s how toya felt his own father, his idol refused to even acknowledge him and when toya asked endeavor to see what he could do with his quirk he neglected him he wasn’t just his father he was his idol
Goddamn, this had to be one of the single greatest series of pages I've ever read in a manga. Dabi went from a cool villain, with a mystery attached, to jumping right past Stain and Gentle and becoming my favorite villain. Horikoshi really knocked this outta the park
Dabi is my most favourite villain ever!
In an alternate universe, Todoroki would have a similiar relationship with Touya as Iida with his brother. It's ironic that the only person who could ever understand Dabi is the one that he hates the most
But I think he hates Endeavor, not Shooto. He wants to kill him to make Endeavor suffer
What hurts me the most about that small moment between Natsuo and Touya, is that Natsuo didn’t mean ANY harm. When people constantly rant and vent to you- it’s draining sometimes. It REALLY is. So Natsuo isn’t in the wrong for just asking for space- but since Touya has been neglected for years, he automatically takes it terribly... I was like Touya at one point.(granted, the person I ranted to all the time was a bad friend regardless)I’m way better now, but being that way is so painful on the mind-😔🙏🏾

Thank god you didn’t go insane and kill hundreds of innocent people
I've been in a similar situation too. However, I've bottled it up and rant to the wall so know one really knows; maybe it's the social distancing, maybe it's my own pride, but more likely it's because if I act out I'll just be proving to everyone that I can't handle the situation and that will only prove them right. And that's the sad thing the way Touya was acting as a kid only shows that he would have ended up like Endeavor if not worse had he actually managed to become a hero (and he never met a Deku-like character to change his perspective of course).

I might be just spitting nonsense, but what if Touya also has an ice quirk that only activates when he's totally emotioless?
Since his fire quirk depends so much on his emotions, being such a tempestous child he probably thinks he only has a fire quirk because of the fact that he's always been very emotional.
It could also be connected to the fact that Enji is very hot-headed and has a fire quirk, while on the opposite, Rei is/was almost emotionless and has an ice quirk.
it would also make perfect sense in consideration with the diagnosis he got. his quirk was still developing back then and the doctor was afo´s ally, thus it´s possible that he got a misdiagnosis, either intentionally or by accident.
This Reminds me of Zuko and his Father except there's No Uncle Iroh to set Touya/Dabi on the Right path.
Good analysis
Dude this made me cry. I couldn’t imagine no Uncle Iroh. I could not.
To me, it's the "Tai Lung" Situation. Dabi wants to prove that he's the successor to Endeavor, he worked his way up, regardless of his injuries, just to get the approval of someone he look up to (which is something that he's parallel to Izuku) he wanted to be the chosen one to Endeavor, not Shouto.
Leaves from the vine
Cute. Trying to compare Ozai to Endeavour...
Can we talk about how kind shoto is...he had every reason to resent his mom but choose not to..also right now he is lending his hand to endeavor who has abused him...and also despite being the youngest one he stood up to endeavor for his mom...he is so precious and pure-hearted...I hope him and touya atleast have a happy ending!!
He is such a great character
Deku impacted him
Exactly why his mother has stated that he is the hero of their family
@Noob S. I agree. The best outcome would be him accepting to be confined into a mental institution, probably for life, after being neutralized by his father and siblings. That's really sad.
It is anime/manga they will find away to make it happy ending. They did in Naruto, DBZ, and many others.
His flames growing with emotion makes sense, remember during the forest training arc where Dabi was telling Vlad about the hero society and his flames were randomly showing up on his body
Same thing happens to shoto
I can't get over how quick everyone forgave Endeavor. Like the "cause we are family" reasoning just isn't enough
It’s astounding to watch Endeavor’s interactions with Touya to go from him being an engaged father training his sons quirk for a mutual dream, to no longer training him for his own safety, to the blatant rejection and neglect of his own child. Even if you argue that Enji stopped training Touya for his own well-being he still went about it in a way that deeply harmed his son and his family.

What bugs me the most about this situation is that shoto is the one that is carrying the weight of the family and the one that is being targeted by dabi for something that is not his fault and something that started even before he was born that without mentioning that shoto was the one that was mentally, physically and emotionally abused by his dad and yet he is kind enough to give both of his parents a second chance, also in my opinion hirekoshi have the best art in shounen every new chapter I’m more and more impressed with that man’s drawing skills is just pure beauty.
Yeah, the boy is so kind-hearted it makes me tear up just thinking about it...he deserved so much better than what he got..also even in the past despite being the youngest he stood up to endeavor...Shoto is so precious!!!🥺🥺
Shoto's going to be a great dad for sure but before all that he's gonna be a great hero too.
Remember dabi is currently so mentally screwed up that I would feel wrong to not classify him as having a mental illness. He found out that him and shoto were viewed by his father as tools to accomplish a job tools which once they brake near not be given any atention (this chapter kinda focussed on that) so probably he views himself and shoto as less than human just as two tools two experiments made by endeavor. So his goal is to take endeavors two tools away from him preeminently this is explicitly implied with his statements of his intent to die taking shoto and all that he represents away from endeavor. Personally there are two outcomes that would be good for dabi the family abd would bring “justice” for the villains he himself killed (which is oddly all he has killed snatch was technically killed by mr. Compress) and that would be 1 which is the most realistic option a mental institution similar to the one his mother was in with medication tailored to not only deal with violent psychosis but the extream amounts of pain he must constantly be in (which could drive anyone insane) or option 2 which is more grandiose and Lilly the better outcome for the family and the most punishing one for dabi as well dabi which would be to have eri rewind his whole being back to just before he immolated himself which would technically be a death sentence to dabi but it would save toya abd with the current family and technological advances in the world he could be guided to become a hero with support items as a means of penance for all his adults mentally ill selfs crimes.
@Noob S. Eris power is broken she rewound a quirk erasure and sgevrewound deku destroying his body at an insane rate so in theory it should not be too outlandish for her power to do especially if she stores it for a longer period of time before using it now would it be morally correct probably not.

@@All_Glory true they were some of the worst socializers in this show.
so if his powers are tied to his emotion does that mean he’s always angry and sad? That’s why he’s so powerful?
I imagine now, yes
Fire is closely linked to anger, Endeavor is a grumpy and temperamental man almost always surrounded by flames, when Shoto gets angry his fire burns more strongly. Dabi was born with the hottest flames and inside he holds a lot of resentment.
It´s like how Zuko fire worked and he had to learn again to do fire control with new emotions
Shoto: goo goo ga ga
Touya: anyways I started blasting
This comes from someone in a discord I’m in and I want to know people thoughts on it “So, minor vent about translation (something I don't normally complain about)? Quirk kinda causes a downplaying in how traumatic a Quirkless diagnosis would be. The Japanese word used is actually *Individuality*. It's essentially the equivalent of being told you're not a person.” The reason I put it here because it can also make since to why dabi did all this
That kind of sounds more like the RWBY semblances than my understanding of quirks. In RWBY, it's debatable if a semblance molds a person's personality or arises from it (as stated by one of the characters so it's not just fan interpretation). So the calm person has the ability to remove negative emotions. The girl who always runs away makes clones to take the hit for her and so on. The guy who just wants to help his friends can make clones to do multiple tasks for him. The girl who greatly looks up to others can copy fighting styles.
In MHA, this isn't so much the case. Shoto isn't bipolar; he's aloof. Bakugo although bad tempered doesn't want to destroy everything. Uraraka isn't an airhead; Mirako just wants to fight and not be a cute bunny aka prey. Now that doesn't mean that their quirks can't shape things -- Momo and her intelligence, Tokoyami being a chunibyo, and Present Mic being a load mouth -- but it's a lot less prevalent than RWBY. Quirks appear a lot more genetic than semblances.
@@ninjagirl226 what I’m saying or atleast my friend said is that quirks have become apart of life so much that being quirkless is almost considered not being a normal person dabi realized his whole reason of existing is to surpass all might so if his quirk doesn’t allow him to do that then that’s the equivalent of his life not having meaning which makes since why endeavor wanted to surpass all might so bad if you look at the individuality part instead of the quirk part
@@JohnDoe______ Ah. I would still disagree. Quirks in MHA are highly regulated and you basically need a license to use one (unless it's like Ojiro or Hagakure's where the quirk can't be turned off). It's not shown off in the main series but in Vigilante it's clear that the world isn't like One Piece or Marvel or DC where you can use your power whenever you want.
To Deku and Touya (and Shigaraki to a lesser extent his was more a family issue) their quirk status was devastating only because of their dreams to be a pro hero. We see a lot of bad quirks in the series (i.e., David Shield, Hatsume, Inko), and they are fine. Yet we see Gentle (and to a lesser extent the Crawler) who have good quirks devastated to not being able to become a pro hero. It's the crushed dreams that are more an issue that the quirk.
@@ninjagirl226 the mha world is closer to marvel with the whole sokovia accords thing
@@merymcsusa Kind of. But the Sokovia Accords only affected heroes working under SHIELD or the Avengers. It gave the government and UN the ability to dictate what emergencies the Avengers could be deployed to. If you were a civilian with superpowers in the MCU it wouldn't regulate what you can do whereas in MHA Uraraka couldn't use her quirk to help her parents construction company without a permit. Now that's not to say that if you showed superpowers the government might try and force someone to sign the accords, but if you refuse to fight for or against them the accords do little.
Maybe that’s why Rei (and possibly Fuyumi) tend to bottle up their emotions. Their quirks become unstable during states of heightened emotions.
I didn’t know that. Not sure if it’s true, I only thought that their freezing quirk only makes their bodies cold and can’t use it to the fullest because they can’t instantly regulate their body temperatures like Shoto same applies to Toya and Endeavor who get too hot and can’t cool down instantly like Shoto
Everyone's quirk is tied to their emotions. Take Himiko for example, she was only able to look and sound like someone until she got pushed into a corner and for her it was basically the strong feeling to live and get back at the ones hurting her that her quirk leveled up to letting her even use the same quirk as the person she wanted to impersonate. Or whenever Deku levels up or unlocks a previous users powers, because of his emotions setting it off. That's why the heroes in training and even the young kids they do show are told or taught to be careful with their quirk because if they let their emotions take over it could hurt those around them or themselves. That's why Aizawa lectured them a lot about being calm in situations.
Rey: look up to someone else
Toya: Stain is pretty cool huh?
Rey: 👁👄👁
Dabi:
I feel for Touya. I was an eldest kid who got told that I couldn't be given the same attention as my little sister because I was 'unlovable'. And for a while I hated her, loathed her, and poked at all her imperfections if just to prove that their precious princess wasn't as perfect as they thought. But we grew up and my mother began hitting my sister - I couldn't let it slide. I couldn't let them do what they did to me and I shielded her. And it's never stopped since.
The thing is, I've had the love and support of so many others in my family to turn me around - he didn't have that. I understand his rage.
So Dabi’s flames change colors based on his emotions, it’s almost like when Midoriya loses his cool and uses more power than what he can handle, so quirks are almost like when Goku first went SSJ, they get stronger with its users emotions?
Quirks are essentially people's "identity" or personality. So it makes sense that emotions can affect quirks
I mean, you also just seem to get stronger the more angry you get in real life so
the angrier the person is, the stronger the quirk gets. but, the quirk will reply back with anger as well. making it powerful than it was and can be difficult to stop it. dabi’s flames changed due to anger and stress, and it also was extremely powerful enough to burn most of his body. midoriya trigged his quirk due to anger. the power was powerful and replied back with anger as well, but it was too strong for him to stop it. if it weren’t for shinso’s quirk, midoriya could’ve accidentally killed people who are around him.
No his fire changed colors cause of puberty
In my opinion, one of the worst things a parent can do to his or her child is trying to force them to carry on their dreams. Basically, the parent is stripping the right to choose you're own path from their child just so they can live the dream that the parents wanted for themselves, and become tools for them to make that dream a reality.
But This case is far worse. Touya wanted to live up to his father's exceptions so bad and just wanted him to recognize how great and proud he is to be Endeavor's son. Only to be met by cruel apathy and neglect from his father, who while was worried for his son's sake didn't see how much pain he put his son through by not standing by him and helping him find his place in the world. And the rest of his family weren't there for him as he fell into darkness which will manifest into DABI.

rei wasn't right when she said that "this is the entire family's fault"
shoto did absolutely nothing wrong, he was only a small child, suffering his own fate, yet he is still the one that dabi wants to kill ): poor shoto
he's the only one not at fault, but still gets the same treatment
edit: by no means am i saying that it's the children's fault. it's on rei and enji, but there was something they could have done. for example maybe if natsuo didn't tell touya to leave him alone (lowkey hinting at him that he's not interested in what touya has to say) maybe things have gotten down a different path. natsuo himself said maybe he could have knocked some sense into him. again, this is NOT the children's fault, they were too young at the time to truly understand what was going on, but they still have more to do with this than shoto
I'd say it's debateable if Natsuo and Fuyumi should bare any blame either. I mean, they were also kids when all this happened. Older, yes, but still kids. They wouldn't know how to deal with a situation like this or even properly have the skills to. And even if they did, how would they? They're children, they can't get the help Touya needed all on their own. They would have needed their parents for that, and their parents were neglectful at best. Maybe they could have told another adult, but would they have tried to intervene? Endeavor's the #2 hero at this point. They might have felt that they COULDN'T help even if they wanted to. After all, who would believe that the #2 hero was abusive to his family? Ultimately it's Enji and Rei who should be blamed. Rei for not doing anything to try and help Touya, and Enji for making the problem worse by neglecting Touya.
@@Kaytoun yeah, it depends on fuyumi and natsuo though..even though its not necessarily their fault..I think they blame themselves becoz now that he is a villian they feel regretful that why they didnt do more for him, like he was always crying but they didnt pay as much attention. Even I think they shouldn't be blamed, but they will blame themselves anyways becoz of the circumstances
*You have to consider the context of Japanese culture (collective view) with taking family responsibility* even if it is not their fault, so while it may not be viewed quite the same as a western perspective (individualistic view), which people can still disagree with, it is a factor in how the situation may be viewed in another way through a cultural lense. We also see the cultural ideals come into play with the arranged marriage and also additional pressure Toya likely had of wanting to gain Endeavor's legacy also as the eldest son as a birth right.
We have seen a smaller example of the collective with family responsibility through Gentle Criminal with his family falling apart (due to social/monetary issues) as the result of his rescue attempt (so his family as a whole was blamed and had to take responsibility for his well-intentioned mistake). And this is also why Dabi used Hawks' family history of his father being a criminal to the public as he tries to use that framing of being tied to his father, even if that should not matter as much since they are different individuals.

i feel like he did it more to break enji's ego and respect from society
Yea touya should atleast kill endeavor and his mom so his revenge can accomplish and die in peace
@@everythingsfine1395 personally, I don’t think touya should be the one to kill them, but endeavor should die
“This man look like a damn fiend. I’m here thinkin he’s about to give Rei a two piece for clapping back” bruh😭💀we don’t give enough credit to Slice Of Otaku he somehow makes this sad story entertaining to talk about
Why was Dabis life so relatable in a way
Poor kid just wanted to show his father that he can control his flames
Lmao i know Shoto is like “this shit ain’t my fault” 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe the tears of flames are what left the specific scars under his eyes
It's also probably why he now cries blood. Destroyed his tear ducts.
@@ninjagirl226 it is, he already said that when talking to hawks
The flames represented something
He cried tears before because he was sad, sad that his father neglected him
Then his tears turned to flames, flames of hatred for the father who neglected him, the father who set him on a path then tried to push him to a new path that he’d have to walk alone
Now they’re blood, blood for vengeance, he wants to ruin Endeavour, just as Endeavour ruined him
@@logeyperogi1805 right on because quirks are based off of emotions
Oh really that’s what u think happened Einstein
This is how important parenting is
If shoto hadnt left that house he wouldve ended up as dabi jr.
