I constantly have to remind myself that you are self-filming and there's not this professional crew of videographers. It's as if there's not even a "camera presence." We are "just" there, watching a story. And it all flows. smooth transitions. no skipping around. none of the details forgotten. I can't imagine how much work goes into your art. You get my gold star!
Just think about scenes like them walking past or driving by or pulling in that driveway. They had to run ahead, set up the camera, then run back far enough to walk by or drive by or pull into the driveway, then stop an run back and pick up the camera. And they have to do this for every time they film a shot like this!!
Love the van!! Will you guys be in Annapolis in October by chance? If so, was wondering if you might be close to Fla? (Fort Pierce), 😊 to speak at our Awards Dinner for our Fall Women's Race Oct 8th . . Just thought I would reach out and ask. Thanks
Yeah. Dan and Kika are absolutely phenomenal when it comes to the artistic creativity and their ability to keep their production quality topnotch! They possess keen eyes, senses, and editorial skills of the world's top level of an entire production company! I myself have been as a media production manager, I've been incredibly impressed by their work so much. However, that's not the only thing they are capable of doing phenomenal 👏 They are also experienced sailors, explorers, professional architects, fantastic designers, and above all, they both are truly humble and beautiful inside and out incredible human beings ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ TBH, I've never seen anyone quite like them ever before in my life. I just so much in love with them 😍
Epic with a hot reindeer stew on an Italian secluded beach. It's obvious that it's not the sailing/Uma or the roads/Nook that makes this channel so unique ... it's the two guys/the people and their skills making these videos. Thx for all Kika and Dan.
Inspirational, truly... People can learn a thing or two from situations like this, where life throws you "curve balls" yet you choose to make the best of it! Love it!!
I turned 74 the 29th. Enjoy your moments. Birthdays tend to get us looking at the next one, till you are about 40 then it's wooooah. I've been attending all my cancer appointments since 2015. By that, I mean I show up, its the docs that do the fighting. Camping is usually not a favorite of the ex field military folks, but I can see where you two have made that about as painless as it can be made. The best way to make any sleeping bag more effective is to use it on a bed in a Holiday Inn. You have taken that principle and made it mobile. I rarely comment, but Im impressed that the two of you are still together. Going on any vehicle for however many years with your wife is justifiable defense for either murder or loosing ones mind. Peace
Happy Birthday Dan. Both you and Kikka are enjoying life as everyone should. But another trip around the sun completed and many more to come with Kikka as your soul mate.
Happy happy Dan Digg the rig. FYI. I have and am still changing all the screws, nuts and bolts in my rig i can to stainless due to rust. The sea air is unforgiving. I would run a strap over the bins to stop them from flying in an accident(seat belt for storage). Everything becomes a projectile with a sudden stop. Enjoy the road... or track...
Have you heard of “Lotus Grill”? We have one on our boat and can have the enjoyment of a BBQ with the tiniest amount of charcoal, and the knowledge that we can lift up the whole grill with our bare hands.
I'm happy that you are still making fairly regular content, be it on land or on the sea. Can't wait to see how you will transform Uma and the truck also.
Wow 😯. That is EXACTLY the landscape of the foothills of the Sandia mountains on the edge of Albuquerque, NM. But your “not-top-of the mountain” looks like the crest 🤷🏽♂️
For someone like me, owner of a house in the Belgian countryside, this lifestyle is unimaginable, i need my anchor, my garden, my real bed, my "routine" on that little patch of land... and worse of all, i bought a couch last fall! ^^
Sounds like you didn’t buy a couch then. You’re couch would have been living in a van because it’s trendy, but hating every second because you love you’re home life.
5:53 thought I heard Swedish. "Skall du ha den". Am I wrong? That awning is just awesome, wrapping around the car like that! Also; please consider a crash stop or emergency braking situation with all of those open boxes. Stuff flying forwards at 80 km/h creates much ouch in the neck.
I love how you continue to adventure while rebuilding Uma. You are so adaptable to whatever life throws your way. We can all learn from you. Enjoy your reality of LIFE. ❣🥰
As a Brit I'm delighted you've chosen to cruise with one of the most iconic and most unreliable vehicles made! I have every digit crossed. Probably not necessary as the last few years have demonstrated your resourcefulness
Happy Birthday, Dan, sooo glad you were born... and sooo glad for your 35 years :-) Mom Happy Norwegian stew on the Italian island with your British truck with a Canadian name with your Hatian darling!
I’m imagining you two when you’re old, sneaking out of the rest home, to hobble up somewhere with a pretty view, giggling with each other the whole time as you enjoy a snack and reminisce about your epic adventures.
Rest home? When we’re old, we’ll be enjoying a drink in the cockpit of our boat, not reminiscing about the past because we’ll still be living our best lives.
Wow what an amazing campsite by the ocean! Talk about an amazing upgrade in quality of life while taking a step home space. It looks like a lovely way to spend a life.
I have seen tailgate cookstoves a few times. The inside panel on the tail folds down into either a table, or there is a cook stove cut into it. Piano hinge on the bottom, cables on the sides to keep it from over extending. Probably not a bad rig for you lot. Also may I say that unit is awesome. I’ve sort of wanted one for a long time and it is definitely on the bucket list of cars.
Away yes the UMA landy tender rig .😆. Now you have the best of life for adventure traveling sailing and now getting to adventure in land on the countries you visit as well . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 👍🏼😁
You could build a second self on top of the boxes (that ledge seems a good anchor point). That way you would have a good working surface inside the truck. You could also make a small kitchen of some kind.
You have a great foundation for one of the best overlanding vehicles for a couple. With your design backgrounds I am sure you will do it justice. What fun to start with an almost blank canvas. There are some great examples out there in youtube world to check out. Good luck, and happy birthday.
So this trip is Dan's birthday holiday. Taking days off between boat refit is good recharging one's batteries, the relationship, and let the mind - unconsciously - think about design and design details, and the likes - to a reinvigorated Uma.
I love the wrap-around awning. I've never seen one like that before. Only ones that go out to the side. She's going to be an amazing land home. And I love your inflatable sink. It's like the ancient animal skin water bladder.
Landrover 110 are very popular in Australia, the UK and south Africa so ther is a lot of storage and touring ideas from 4x4 stores and websites in those places
Have you not been watching? Lol. This is Dan…. there isn’t a snowballs chance in hell he’ll allow those to get mixed up with stainless ones. And even if he slipped up for a second….NO way Kikka is allowing that! 🤣🤪 I admit though, it was my first thought too. I guarantee that’s exactly what would happen if it was me, they’d have been mixed up before the shelves were even finished. Then I remembered who I was watching. 😂
I think I have vicariously spent a lovely time hanging with you two and enjoying a little bit of heaven. Of course in my adventure with you I got to sleep in the tent! Happy Birthday Dan! Love you both and the friends you spend time with💖.
Very much looking forward to seeing UMA upgraded and back on the briny deep. As a 4x4 off reader, I can appreciate your trip, but as an ex navy sailor, I can’t wait to see more adventures on UMA. : )
Maybe Torx head screws are not a thing in Europe yet? I feel for you guys to having to use Phillips head screws for many of your projects. Torx are vastly superior to flat head, Phillips and square head screws. Love following your journey!
Carry some 2x4 and 4x4 wood bracing along with a couple of scissor jacks, to help you brace yourselves in uneven places...that my not have rocks to pull up on.
Rocks aren't everywhere, but I understand you have to live and learn on your own. You will take me up on my advice one day...after you've lived and learned you need some tricks of the trade.
Still close to the sea and water🤩..ohh man..I am a little jealous I feel seeing you in this very nice Landrover😊😅. Great job Kika..and Dan, have a good healthy and possitive 6th😅..uuhh 36th year of your life. Try sailing on the wind of today..as the wind of yesterday will not bring you any further..and the wind of tomorrow will stay away..so try sail on the wind of today👍👊😘

Camper truck is really cool. Your camping spot is so scenic. You guys adapt so well to whatever is required.
Inspirational, truly... People can learn a thing or two from situations like this, where life throws you "curve balls" yet you choose to make the best of it! Love it!!
As a Marine I was taught to " Improvise, adapt and overcome ".
You guys fit that motto!
HEY! You need RV leveling jacks, AND a folding step to ingress and egress the back!!!!

Happy birthday to Dan , what a nice land yacht,
Nice weather, roads and car.
Take good care 😀
The side shade set up is nice.
Happy Birthday, Dan!
For the anchor rope [line] of the awning, get one of those "corkscrew" type sakes of the type sometimes sold at pet stores to attach leash to.
A sand screw. Yes for sure!
I'm happy that you are still making fairly regular content, be it on land or on the sea. Can't wait to see how you will transform Uma and the truck also.
Dinner with an outstanding view. Better than the best restaurant. I love the shade sail. Very clever. Happy Birthday Dan.
Happy birthday Dan!🎂🍾
Get a couple of plastic wedges, saves all that collecting rocks and driving up them 👍.
Wow 😯. That is EXACTLY the landscape of the foothills of the Sandia mountains on the edge of Albuquerque, NM. But your “not-top-of the mountain” looks like the crest 🤷🏽♂️
The best sailing couple out on internet! Happy birthday Dan!
Simply gorgeous, with continued Freedom to go anywhere. And always have the ocean at your bay even without the boat . 💗
Great campout spot! That LR is also pretty badass!
Now you have two build projects. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Very nice location. Nice truck. Nice people. Nice memories. Enjoy the journey. Happy birthday, Dan.
What do you need to live a happy life? Shelter, food, water, and your companion. The rest is optional, storage.
Happy Bday Dan!
Happy Birthday Dan, Cheers!
Happy Birthday Dan!

I want that Land Rover, it's so cool! And that last camping spot was so beautiful.
Happy Birthday Dan... all of life is an adventure, and you two enjoy it and cope with it well.... you have taken vlogging to new levels.. well done...

Going up that mountain looked like so much tacking!

Happy Birthday….great episode.
As a Brit I'm delighted you've chosen to cruise with one of the most iconic and most unreliable vehicles made! I have every digit crossed. Probably not necessary as the last few years have demonstrated your resourcefulness
I really want her to start calling it a 'Landy' I love these vehicles even if I spent my childhood broken down watching my Dad bodge something 😂
Sweet rig. Recommend folding table for outside kitchen, with elevated stove.
Thanks for sharing
happy belated! and "mama, papa, kaka, dan" had me in stitches
Happy Birthday, Dan, sooo glad you were born... and sooo glad for your 35 years :-) Mom Happy Norwegian stew on the Italian island with your British truck with a Canadian name with your Hatian darling!
Nice dining room ❤
A great sailing Uma update. Thanks for sharing.
Getting at those bolts looked a little like boat yoga.
You guys a truly talented film makers. Bravo!
Wow, that Landrover has got its own sail. 😂
And Happy Birthdaaaaaay, Dan! 🎉
You could design a slide out kitchen on roller rails
FYI I had an old Landy liver out of it for 3 years it was great i mounted a two burner gas cooker in the back door worked really well

We’re designing one for the tailgate. We’ve seen a lot of them, but they’re all a bit generic, so we’re building our own…. Go figure ;)
@@SailingUma I figured as much
Happy Birthday Dan from Victoria 🇨🇦
Away yes the UMA landy tender rig .😆. Now you have the best of life for adventure traveling sailing and now getting to adventure in land on the countries you visit as well . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 👍🏼😁
You guys have the best B-role footage!!!
I ordered one of those showers. I am going to have a shower on my boat! Yippeeee!
It's pretty sweet! You'll love it. Gets nice an warm in the sun too.
Wonderful filming, editing, and story telling. You two always amaze me. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures.
😊❤
So nice to see you guys enjoying yourselves stress free!

oh we have so many great ideas for how we want to build the interior 😊 super excited about that.
@@SailingUma I am so excited to see what you turn this truck into!!!

Good video. Got to love the Land Ranger; very handy bit of kit - but one of those sliding rollout kitchens would serve you well.
Happy Birthday!...
22:45 Yeah, I would also trade the comfort of a proper camping van to be able to camp at these sites. Awesome!
So this trip is Dan's birthday holiday. Taking days off between boat refit is good recharging one's batteries, the relationship, and let the mind - unconsciously - think about design and design details, and the likes - to a reinvigorated Uma.

Happy Birthday Dan and I’m glad you’re taking time on land and adventuring! ❤
Happy belated birthday!!! I am glad you are keeping with the Don't buy a Couch lifestyle on land.
I never heard "Dukes of Hazard" as a verb. I guffawed. Nicely done.
Happy birthday Dan! 🎉😊😊
Just got that Nemo water “heater” too. Love it!
It’s great isn’t it!? We want to find out what hose they use and get more of it. It’s so flexible.
Happy birthday Dan 🎉
When Dan said Dukes of hazard ... your references are much older than you are 35 years old boy ! Happy birthday !
I grew up watching Dukes of Hazard.
@@SailingUma Did you know the series originally aired between 1979 and 1985, you were a pretty young fan. Just funny 😄.
I love the wrap-around awning. I've never seen one like that before. Only ones that go out to the side.

Happy birthday 🎂🎉😊👍🏻👍🏻
Happy Birthday 🎂 🥳 🎉 Dan
Happy birthday dan
That was amazing!!!
Loved this episode. Been dreaming of boat life & van life together. What a wild ride with great friends.
What a magical location
The truck is very cool, but boy am I glad I can watch you living this life so I don't have to! 🙃
Your ride is Supreme!! You will have and Are Having so much fun with it! Very Happy for you 2+ 1!! We enjoy your videos, Thank You!😊❤

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎂 🥳 🎉 Dan
Oh my God ! No matter Land or Sea you know how to enjoy life , Happy Birthday Dan .😀😀😀😀
Happy Birthday, Dan........you are an awesome guy. Love you both
Your truck is so we'll suited to your overall needs, it's really neat I think. Just be safe always from the Philippines 💞

Almost TOO many!! It's hard to find quality stuff you actually need in the ocean of nifty add ons you definitely don't
Happy birthdzy Dan.......but Kika's so cute standing next to the van.
You know those zinc-plated screws @9:00 are going to get mixed up with all the other stainless stuff.
