You explanations are edge to edge sharp as a razor, no staking needed, Sir. Kudos to you and thanks
I've seen almost all of your videos and all of them are on very solid topics that often a lot of photographers get confused in and we're very grateful for that. There's one more topic about which there's a very less and incomplete information on the internet 'advantages of cross type focus points and normal focus points and how to use them'. Please consider this as a request from all the photo enthusiasts like me.
Definitely a thumbs up. You did a nice job explaining what focus stacking is and how to utilize the focus shift feature of the Nikon D850. Thank you.
Your explanations are always crystal clear and enjoyable, thank you.
Your videos are so well-explained without any extraneous distraction. Well done, keep up the good work!
Thank you so much. I have been a photographer for 30 years and I never came across focus stacking before. Brilliantly explained. Again, many thanks
Thank you for a very clear and informative tutorial. I just got my 850 and still learning all of the new features and this was very helpful.
Aloha Noble Sir....you are my hero....Thank you so much for the time you put into your tutorial and review videos.
Sir You're a great teacher! Loved the video! Thank you for sharing the knowledge..
Head this term focus stacking somewhere. Now i know what it is. Thanks a lot 😊👍🏻
I Really Impressed Your way of Explaination, I think Start My photography immediately ,....I fall in Love on Photography
I ALWAYS LISTENING THROUGH MY HEART THANKS SIR FOR YOUR VALUABLE LESSONS EXPECTING MORE FROM PIXEL VILLAGE
Am a fan of your channel, excellent way of conveying things, like ur attitude and way of ur presentation, thanks for ur valuable time for preparing this video for learners like me, always keep rocking sir 😍😍😍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I completed my first three focus stacks with your direction with no problems. Adobe wouldn't save a .psd because it said I was over 2gb. Now I need a lesson on focus stacking objects left to right across compared to back to front. Thank you.
Excellent! Love the way it’s been described. Big thumbs up 👍🏻
Sir your voice is very clear and captivating. Of course lessons are too valuable.
Harsimran Singh (Dino) Thank you Dino... 🙏 😊
you are a excellent teacher, explain things in a fantastic manner
ek no sir every time i visit you i learn something new
Wow what a well explained tutorial! definitely beats mine 🙊... Thanks for sharing!
Thank you Sir...
Thamk you Sir for the detailed tutorial. It is indeed a great built in feature compared to the previous tedious method which has a chance of camera shake during the manual focus bracketing!! 😊🤓
Absolutely brilliant video, love watching your channel. 👍
The best explanation I have heard. Thank you
no body to my knowledge thought about focus stacking technology i learned from you are great thanks a lot
Good morning Rad - Excellent presentation ! I am another new D850 owner (although a > 40 year Nikon user) and any tutorial presentation other than the owners manual is absolutely essential. Your videos fit the bill perfectly. Now if you would only redo the complete owners manual in your distinct / professional style would be terrific. Just kidding. All the best yo you and yours. Terry
top notch quality videos! thanks for the content!
Very helpful and professionally presented. Thank you!
Rob O 🙏🙏🙏
What an outstanding tutorial. Clear as day. Thanks so much.
Its really interesting and helpful.Sir i wish to watch a tutorial on the impact of lighting from different angles and positions on a stationary object, will wait for it.Keep going really good.
Very usefully and thumbs up for you. Hope long exposure techniques and more... thank you so much sir.
Adipoli... 😊 Have Learned something new.
Nice! Explained well, main points of the features.
awesome video feeling like I was in the class
Every informative and well explained thanks.
Superb demonstration, thank you very much.
Great tutorial just got my D850 clear and easy to understand going try that feature out later thank you
paul jones 👌👍🙏😊
Awesome video and very useful.... Than you sir!!
Thanks for the video but if I may, I have one point to consider: the focusing you did manually on live mode would not hold since immediately thereafter you switch to autofocus, thereby giving the camera control over the focusing from the first shot to the last. Otherwise excellent explanation and thanks again.
Thank you. The best tutorial.
Merci beaucoup. Beau tutorial.
Excellent teaching
Big Fan of you, i watched all your videos and i learned so many new things and techniques from your videos speacially mobile photography tips were very useful for me,hope one day i will buy a canon 600d camera or any other camera that is my dream... Love from Pakistan 🇵🇰💓 stay blessed...
Thank you very much Rashid... Happy to know that. And thanks again for your wishes and kind words. 🙏🙏🙏😊
Great work .. thank you
Great Tutorial
Thankyou for this great tutorial...wanted to ask how could we know how many shots we need to get in order to have full product in focus from edge t edge ?
Hi Ashan... It depends on the length (size) of the product and the working Aperture. Do a quick test using JPEG to figure out before doing the final shots in RAW. Cheers...
Great tutorial.
Great tutorial Radhakrishnan!
Thank You Very much!
Excellent description. thanks
Interesting...
Very helpful and professionally presented. Thank you!
Amazing one Sir Ji.. you made it look so simple.. 🙏🏼 can you please post some tips and tricks for mid range camera like Nikon D7000 😊
That sharpness! 😯!
Wonderful explanation of focus stacking. I would like to request if you can please explain Highlight Weighted Metering and how to use it using a D850/D810 or even a Z7 in one of your future video lessons. Thank You !
As always, I appreciate the time and quality of your videos. Thank you. I do have a question however. Does the focus shift happen left to right or top to bottom, and is there a way to control that? Thank you again
I like this. Also, have a look at Lewis von John (X-T2, A7Riii, GFX, 4x5, etc.)
Very informative
I liked this video , but if I may ask you to show other ways of focus stacking, primarily because I'm guessing not everyone has a high end DSLR with this option built in. I realize that this video says D850 Focus Stacking , but a lot more people will definitely appreciate the more "hands-on" way to do this. Thanks!!!

Frankly, that was an excellent and concise video which was well presented and clear to understand. Bravo!
Thank you Sir... Comments like these are Steroids for beginners like us. Best...

The only downside of doing the focus stacking using the camera's built in function that it doesn't allow you to specify the first and last focus points as does a software like Helicon remote for example.
Was this video shot on the 850 as well? It is beautiful
You have One of the best UA-cam channel Sir. Very well explain everything. Thanks to having you in UA-cam.
Rashida
Since posting this video in 2017, has there been an update to allow this process while shooting tethered? Many thanks, excellent video!
Thank you, very well done.
it amazing good guiding ...
Hi what is the touch focus in live view like in video. I just need it to obtain a focus point efficiently and fast.
Thank You!
Excellent presentation.....being new to focus stacking, how does the camera know at where is the end of the shot .... for example if I focus on the closest point at 1 foot and the the end of the product group is at 3 feet (as opposed to 6 feet ) how do you determine number of shots.... is it by trial and error or is there a formula
Yes. This will involve a bit of trial and practice to predict number of shots and distance setting.
thank you sir
With the d850 do I need to have the photo quality set to jpeg or can I shoot in raw for focus stacking mode
Nicely explained..! Just a question Can D850 stand better against Sony FS5 in terms of Video? Its off topic but if you know as I don't like idea of paying 5K+ and having "Super 35" ( To me its a Crop Sensor ) smaller than D810/D850? Any thoughts?
Paras Photography Hi Paras... Thanks for commenting. Cinematography using a DSLR was always an add-on feature and may not become as good as a Digital Cinema/Video camera. Many reasons. FS5 will enable you to do video way easier and better than any DSLR. Now that being the reality, D850 has, by far the best Video capability among the current DSLRs. 🙏😊
Sir, fantastic educational video. Appreciate the effort.
Question: How fast can the 'stacking' feature go? If I have a group of people (standing relatively still) can the process go quickly, like bracketing? I know there's an option for "zero" time delay between shots, so if it's bright, theoretically, it should go very quickly...yes?
Thanks very much. G
Nice video! I would love for Nikon to update the firmware to be able to do this while tethered, I'd also like to be able to turn on the live view white tethered to check focus from the camera when manually focusing, I know i can put the camera in live view through the computer in CaptureOne but sometimes the screen is 10ft away. I noticed i can do this on the 5dsr at the studio i work for, but not the d800/850
Good tutorial, thanks! I understand you must use a Nikon autofocus lens to use this D850 stacking function. Are there any way to use the function together with non-autofocus lenses? I myself use the Zeiss Macro-Planar 100/2 XF2 and the Zeiss Milvus 50/2 Macro ZF2, both are manual focus lenses - I guess it in my situation isn't possible to benefit from the stacking function of the camera. The D850 is an impressive power house, I'm very happy with mine.
sir how get canon like colours on d850 ,like the sony has eoshd pro color to get the colors like canon produce ,is there any way please guide
just loved the explanation sir.. just one question if possible please do reply...
Q. what is that value of "Focus width" do. Does this supersedes the aperture settings and widens the area of focus in the frame... It will be great to hear from you.. @Pixel Village
Hello, can you please share some information on remote trigger for flash photography? Any brand you prefer?
Thanks,
Arvind
Arvind Mohapatra Nikon makes very good camera flashes. But if you are looking for Studio Flashes, Godox Flashes and Godox X1/X1 Pro triggers will work very well. 🙏 😊
amazing tips thank you :)
Thank you for review, it is very helpfull. ( I have pressed the red button ...) Howmuch is the strength of your flash for this distance you used in this film ? You used only one flash?
Thank you so much for your reaction,
kind rergards,
Irene
Sir,Iam just an beginner in photography,I love macro photography iam planning to buy sony alpha a6400,does it will be good for macro photography and landscape
The toughest part is using it in uncontrolled landscape situation. For landscape photographers like me this is a hectic job. You could make a video specifically for landscapes
Hi Sir, this is SUNIL KUMAR. It is very good tutorial. sir can you tell me camera should be on autofocus mode and what F number is the best .
Could you please give detailed review about Nikon D5300. It's an request please.
Wow really great, if i'm not wrong we can also use this Technic on Landscape photography as well right?
Zak Zak Absolutely Zak... Cheers... 👍
Super your addressing your photograph triks
Very nice sir ji
Sir..... I recently bought a nikon D750..... Will u please give me your review on D750
I tried the steps in your tutorial with my D850. I set up 45 shots but the camera only took 5 shot. Should the camera be on single or continuous ? and should the camera be to auto focus ?
Frankley thanks for this well explained tutorial.bcos focs stacking one of the best feature in Nikon D850. Whether we using the camera on stacking mode we can connect live into PC is it possible for the perfect view of pictures
Manoof kareem Interesting. Never tried. It will show a Live preview but may not let you work on the images like a RAW capture software. At best you might be able to play back and watch. Let me try it anyway 😊🙏
I hop it's will shown on nxt preview.. the oly way is able to play back Nd watch .it didn't work on images like raw capture software I thought it possible anyway good answer for this
As always very interesting topic, an observation which now leads me to a question apart from your topic. I noted you have a godox trigger there. I have the x2t godox trigger. Is there a possibility of using the SB 700 flash on the trigger where another flash or two is being used and is being trigger by the x2t. Can this be accomplish in TTL mode?
Which make dslr is best for beginners and professional (canon/nikon)
good video enjoy and learn
Sir help me to find best lenses for sony alpha a6400, I have a low budjet to buy only 2 lenses suggest me an macro lense and mid rage lense or wide angle lense sir.
Thanks a lot.
does the Mirror have to be engaged ? Nikon d850 35 mm lens, im assuming the Lens also has to be in M/A , as well as the the auto mode on camera body
Which one is best canon11 XA or canon 15 XA for classroom video purpose and live stream plz tell As soon as possible.......?
great video sir!!! can focus stacking be developed in lightroom 6??
I don't think so. LR is a RAW developing and grading software, and it does just that. You will need 'PS' or other softwares like 'Helicon Focus' to achieve Stacking. Cheers...
ok.. thank you...great video!!!
Can i get this option in canon...
Please do review on Nikon D810
That was very useful i would like know the list of apps on your Mac which you uses for editing pictures and adjustment apart from lightroom and adobe photoshop.
#ST 9 Thank you for your feedback. We use CaptureOne Pro from Phase One for RAW processing. 🙏 😊
PIXEL VIILAGE thanks alot for being so much responsive on my queries..
PIXEL VIILAGE great to know that you use capture one pro...even I shifted from Lightroom .. Although very happy with capture one pro was still having doubts as to whether I took the right decision but now seeing you using it I think my decision was right
How Can I use it while shooting a Panorama? Can it be used? If yes, How?
Being out of tipic, plz do suggest a camera for a starter with basic knowledge in photography . Thanking in anticipation.
