Rick staying silent for 4 and 5 minutes at a time and not interrupting is the best interview skill there is. Great job allowing Nuno really open up.
Howard Stern doesn't have this skill.
You're so right, I don't know how many times I've made the comment on videos where I've basically protested because there's been someone who everyone's tuned in to hear their thoughts, but the host thinks he's the star of the show and wont shut the f%&* up!!!👈
Totally agree - that was a masterpiece in interviewing! Rick was there to fill any gaps and prompt here and there, but he let Nuno run with the ball!
Exactly!
Yes! I loved this interview!
Nuno’s enthusiasm is off the scale. What a fabulous interview and what an awesome guy Nuno is. It was like two kids in a sweet shop!
coke helps
Nice call brother. Great observation. Kind of like some of the stuff EVH was famous for and came shining through in a lot of videos, interviews, goofing around with Alex, off the cuff stuff. Looks like that might be a bunch of somethings a lot of the greats share.

I am an old songwriter and guitar player; half decent at best, but everything I heard Nuno say in this interview are things that I have held to my whole life musically. I am now close to being done with this existence and this interview lifted my heart. Talent is one thing; insight like this: amazing.
@@bryandraughn9830 and sisters
I know this is an old comment but I hope you're doing okay! Take care
@@robypal97 Jack was the most excited I had seen in some tie with Nuno’s feelings and expressions of what the music and performance meant. I listened to the interview with him and afterward while he talked to me for two days about how Nuno “got it”. He felt the same about playing and creating music. I lost half of me; I lost my best friend, his constant drive to write, create and play; and I lost his passion and love of all this world holds. Thank you for your response. It’s been two months and i have a hole that will never heal.
@@lindajackainsworth4974 So sorry for your loss. Wishing you the best.
I can so relate to your comment
Nuno is so brutally talented, but so humble at the same time. It's refreshing to see those human beings. Proud of the dude 🤘🇵🇹
Yeah it's so cool to see your guitar heroes geek over your other guitar heroes
soooooo talented makes me jealous sometimes
Humble, Yes. Talented, YES!!
👍 totally agree with you 🎯
This interview is the best Nuno interview i've ever seen. This interview is like the Lukather one, just captivating from start to finish and non stop storytelling. And Rick barely had to lead Nuno anywhere, he just let Nuno go off and tell stories. Amazing interview.
Agreed: two hours of absolute gold. Nothing comes close to these Beato interviews, they're absolute treasures.
great interview, great musician...but this fu**ing swearing in so fu**ing annoying and stupid and not cool.
Thank god it is not an interview, it’s a monologue :) and a nice conversation.
Nuno is a talker & a cool guy which make for a great interview. loved every minute of it. makes me want go out and buy a 12 string.
I'm two thirds the way through and keep returning to this great interview 👍
Rick is music teacher to the whole world! What a gift! Thank you Nuno! Your honesty and enthusiasm are inspiring.
What an amazing interview. I can listen to Nunos memories all day. It brings us all back in time.
Nuno is the GOAT right now
@CASNY4METAL you must be 14 years old then... no offense
The most shocking part of the interview: Nuno Bettencourt doesn't have a guitar tech that can correctly set-up his instrument. That's unbelievable!
BEST VIDEO I'VE EEEEVER SEEN. Rick Beato and Nuno are making my life in Toronto right now..
I was watching this interview again today - and I've watched it a BUNCH of times because it's so perfect - but I got to the part where Nuno is telling the story about Eddie Van Halen dropping by his house with Gary Cherone. I think Eddie was saying his 'goodbyes.' I think he knew his diagnosis and how things could 'go left' for him quickly, and he was visiting the people in his life who meant a lot to him - people he respected. How wonderful that Nuno was one of those people! (And I can tell that Nuno really cherishes this memory.)
Dude…there has been so many great ones, but this has to be my favorite sit down that you have done. Nuno is such a great interview…so enthusiastic, so eloquent, he’s just so happy to be talking to you about music and guitar!!
I agree with you here about his enthusiasm. You can tell just how truly passionate Nuno is about everything music. From the guitarists that inspired him, the way he approaches playing guitar, the stories and history of his career, and his philosophies concerning music. He expresses an immense love when he speaks about music. When speaking about himself, you see that he speaks very confidently, and proudly about his ability, fully aware how great of a guitarist he is, but without being arrogant. He’s humble, without being overly modest to avoid acknowledging his accomplishments.
But I have to say, I never thought someone could be so eloquent while dropping so many F-bombs at the same time. 😅
Yes and Nuno doesn’t edit his potty mouth! Refreshing!
You can’t fake the admiration he has for EVH, almost half the interview he was talking good things about him. He even addressed him as Edward instead of Eddie. R.I.P the legend EVH❤🕊️
I love how he kept it real also. Calling out the Michael Anthony bullshit…both keeping him out of VH and also playing his bass parts and doing vibrato.
I really respect that too. I feel the same way about gary moore. Nuno is such a humble man for a guitar god. This is my favourite guitarist interview ever.
brian may always called him edward aswel, they were great pals and brian really respected and admired him, they recorded some stuff together for brian's starfleet project mini album, one of the 3 'let me out' is both of them playing off of each other, worth a listen to 👑✊🇬🇧
Saying Edward over Eddie shows his absolute admiration and respect for the man.
Did Nuno get married or not?
I mean, HOW do you top this??? THIS was/IS what we want interviews to be like. Genuine, transparent, insightful, delightful.... you just want to watch over and over again. Hard not to smile thru out the interview. Thank you BOTH Nuno and Rick for this amazing video. God bless you both. :)
It's amazing, what can put one person to sleep and give another a boner
If more guys cared about music/guitar in this kind of organic way, you'd hear a lot more of this...
Too many dinaglings running around in dropped D or C, all using the exact same speakers (looking at you vintage 30) doing everything BUT caring about the organic and magical nature of music.
Nuno is high on music. And I love it.
Nuno jammed with Beethoven but still looks 28
I was smiling too. Amazing stuff!
This is the greatest interview ever! Nuno is just the best! His love of music and sincerity / passion for playing really comes through in this session.
Nice free will ending that Beato left there it's like a kid in a band rehearsal with best friends. Loved it. 🤘
Nuno is so humble. And I'm glad to hear him mention Elliott Easton, whose solos were always musical and take a song to a higher level. A musician's musician.
Yup. For those looking for that part it’s at 13:15. He just gushes over EE. It’s awesome to hear.
Yep. Elliott Easton is underrated and I’ve always loved his playing. Also, another very humble guy.
Nuno is speaking from the soul and he knows Rick Beato’s channel and interviews are the most real line of communication to his fan base and future musicians. He arrived with a MESSAGE to all of us. I was lucky enough to meet him at one of his clinics and was able to speak to him for around an hour. What a humble and funny guy. Such a living legend. His solo music allowed my dad and I to bond during my parents divorce. This guy deserves way more respect. Cheers Nuno!
@@er1ck1 not sure what you are asking.
This is pure gold. Nuno says everything that needs to be said. Thank you Rick for letting us hear Nuno speak his heart and soul. It was beautiful!
RocknRoll is the fountain on youth as Nuno says.
There is a reason why Jesus told people to build their house on the rock, and if the appearance of these two guys is any indication as to why in despite of their age they are still youthful and excited for music, it would be their aversion to 4/4 monotony that plays a significant part I would guess.
Watched the entire 2:30 hour long interview starting at midnight. It’s 2:30 am and i am so wired! Intense doesn’t begin to describe Nuno. Thank you Rick!
I just did the same damn thing, very cool to say the least.
I can’t believed I watched a 2 hour interview. I can watch this guy all day, he’s so humble and funny, seems like he is not aware of who he is for all of us mortals. I love this guy.
Oh yeah! I watched it for a while, then checked how much time was left - 1 hour! - and cheered out loud!
I really do feel sorry for younger people who won't know that experience. Just you, in the dark, with headphones on, discovering a new band by dropping a needle on a black piece of vinyl and letting it play from front to back while you read every word on the sleeve and stared at the photos over and over. It really did bond you to a band and to music in a way that nothing else can. It was magical, and mystical, and mysterious, and made you feel like an explorer in a new world.
bingo!!
I did the same thing, but with tapes. My dad had a record player but it was really nice and he didn't let the kids mess with it. He's the one that got me into Extreme.
Amen. 🙏🏻🖤🎶
you cannot LISTEN to music through some stupid bluetooth headset. you might hear it, but you're not listening.
Absolutely. I kiss that mystery and the album cover was sooo important at that time especially when you didn’t know the band. That’s what happened with Van Halen with me. I never heard it before but bought the only one available in my small town because the cover looked cool. Back in those days the shop owner would play u the first two tracks of the cassette like a trial to complete your decision. But this one was the only one available and so he said that if he breaks the seal I will have to buy it. He broke the seal, played the first song, Eruption aaannnd thay cassette was mine in 2 seconds.
I'm only 20 minutes in and Nuno is SO addictive to watch. His passion, his enthusiasm...
E seu charme, e sua beleza e tbm sua risada sincera!
As much as I love Nuno’s “shredding”, his solo on Stop the World is still my favorite of his. That first note is to die for. Perfect example of playing for the song first.
All these years I was not sure if I like Nuno or not, but after this interview I realized what a great, lovely and funny guy he is❤
Rick really lets his guest talk, even as talkative as Nuno is. Great.
Rick is all about the artist. His lessons are other worldly too! You learn so much in so little time!
He's so good at explaining and articulating his feelings, it's absolutely fascinating and a privilege of the modern age to have such a player with such experience be able to express so much in an interview like this. Rick as always does such a great job at bringing it back, keeping the flow or letting it go places. 👌🏻
the opposite of Eddie Trunk
Definitely! He is such a GREAT interviewer. He is doing us all a big service providing historical musical moments!
@@Good-Enuff-Garagekeep in mind Eddie Trunk's doing broadcast stuff with time limits
I love how he refers to Eddie as Edward - I can feel the appreciation and reverence Nuno has for him. Very touching.
I was 10 minutes in before I realized who "Edward" was.
@@galahad692000 me too 😹😂😂
I knew exactly who Edward is. Anybody who knows anything about rock guitar playing should know who Edward is.
@@youthanasia1982 congrats! Your award is in the mail
many people who idolize Eddie call him Edward.
I knew, right away, when I first heard him, 30+ years ago, how incredibly special Nuno's talent is. So happy for his career. And, so great to experience him in this format.
This is about the most amazing person I've seen lately being interviewed. I'm just mesmerized by his story-telling, intelligence, animation, smile for YEARS!. I feel really bad that this is the first time I've heard of him (that I remember). I'm off to go probably play every video I can find of him playing OR talking. This human being is amazing. Thank you, @rickbeato so very much
(pardon me..... sorry..... Still watching this. Man. Can you imagine if he had time to write a book? So many incredible stories from a damned amazing storyteller.... Damn...) write a book, man! Wow.
You are going on quite the adventure! Happy trails! You're gonna love it!
I love listening to Nuno talk about music. It’s pure, it’s passionate, and it’s above all, honest. There’s no “buzz words” or flashy antics. It’s a man that loves musicianship, the art, and the heart. Just delightful, inspiring, and validating for any musician of any skill level. Two hours to basically say, “just play the d@mn thing and write about what makes you feel.” Beautiful.
Well said!
That McCartney anecdote is pure gold. This was outstanding from start to finish. And what a public speaker. I also note he said you are quite an influence in the community. Congrats.

Saw Nuno and the boys play last night with Living Colour as the opening act.....totally blown away at how good he was as were the rest of the band.
Hands down the best Beato interview so far. Nuno was dynamite from the first syllable to his last. Absolutely loved it. Rick has earned the respect from those who inspired him to become who he is now. Follow your dream, folks - Rick and Nuno did❤
Couldnt agree more man.
ur close- he was FUCKING dynamite. hahaha
i was never a huge Extreme fan because i found them very cheezy and one of the harbringers of the death of hair metal/rock because everything was so corporate at that time.... but i've always respected Nuno as one of the greatest guitar players that ever made it... that being said this interview is so fantastic. his passion for music is on full display and i have even more respect for Nuno. i might start listening to Extreme again :D
@@TheSlapshotLC You should, especially 3 sides to every story album... one of the most underrated albums in my opinion.....
The most respect given to EVH I have heard. Edward..... not Eddie. It's all in the details.
If you are a guitar player at ANY level. This interview is impossible to look away from. Wonderful to witness.
Not a guitar player. Not a musician. I had to watch till the end. Fascinating.
I have watched the whole interview twice. He is so captivating.
1:28:50 yup, Nuno. That tap broke Europe. And we share the same portuguese nostalgic heritage.
AMAZING interview! The latitude you gave Nuno to express himself without interrupting him shows what a great man you are! That's how it's done!
Love from Portugal. ♥
Nuno's one hell of a guy and a guitar player! Incrediblle the vibe that Rick brings to this Heroes!😍
Hands down the most amazing, raw in-depth interview of anyone I’ve ever seen. Nuno was so open on every aspect of his life..
When he talks, his thoughts and analogies of how he feels about music is amazing.. his enthusiasm to create great music and pay tribute to his idols is something every musician should strive to do..
Nuno IMO is a down to earth musician and all around good guy..
He got married and alot people didn't know.
Nuno's straight up, open, honest and respectful bedside manner is so characteristic of the Portuguese people. We can't help it, because it's who we are to the core of our being - pretense is just not in our nature. Naturally there are always exceptions in every culture.
But that's what the people who have visited Portugal love the most about Portugal - it's genuinely nice, honest, mild mannered, hospitable people! Nuno has it in spades!
Well he shouldn't have left the mother of his children for someone old enough to be his daughter. And how do expect someone who's never been married to understand marital problems ? He just married her cause she's young and already knew she was good in bed cause they had been together for so long. And she married him for all that money that he's worth. It will be one hell of a surprise if the marriage works,.she'll wind up looking for someone younger, especially if he winds up on viagra.
it’s called cocaine
@@lorettasearcy1471 jealousy is an ugly trait my friend
every creative person, band, artist nowadays, should watch this interview. This is pure gold, kudos for Rick! Kudos for Nuno!
You're killing it with these longer format interviews--Metheny, Sting, May, Bissonette, Lanois, Bettencourt, Lukather, and so many more! This is critical, fundamental, human-centric treasure. I'm gut-punched (in the best possible way) by the humility and vulnerability expressed across these conversations. If there's one unifying theme among their stories, it's the hard-wired drive in those artists to make music in the service of deeper human connections. Our world desperately needs a shed-load more of exactly that.
Next... Michael Anthony
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 1:30:30 😂 1:30:29 😂😂😂 1:30:30 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great word!!
Micheal Anthony ?? OMG we can only dream!! In my humble opinion he was the glue that held that rocking wild fire ship together!!
It's keeping the tradition of top rock musicianship alive along with the art and beauty of music.
Speaking on behalf of all musicians around the world, Rick, you are the gift that keeps on giving!
We all say “Thank You” in beautiful harmony.
Thank you in D major
Nuno is fabulous! Such a grounded, non-pretentious person - and a great musician. And nobody knows how to interview musicians better than Rick!
This interview is like when you would get together with other musicians and friends and just be yourself and spit out pure awe you had of your idols .... but at a much higher level and I'm here for it! This rekindled a spark in my soul! Thank you Rick for what you do, I now have something to look forward to on UA-cam!
Here , Here ! A toast to you !

As someone with depression, this made me smile a lot. Your energy is like medicine.
Be strong! You Will get better :) :) :)
OMG i thought exactly the same... just lying on my bed watching this video.. made me smile ... id love to meet this guy, i feel like is my new hero . NUNO if you need an organ player call me.
Hey brother! I go through the same problem. Antidepressants and therapy, the whole ugly thing. Hold on to the things that make you smile. They are out there, even in everyday life. Seeing the ugliness of the world is easy, but those little jewels of joy and kindness are out there. They're harder to find, but it's so worth it.

I didn't expect Nuno to be so funny and relatable considering he's a Rock God.

The down right best interview I've ever watched! Nuno is such an awesome guy with amazing stories. I could watch this forever!
What else can anyone say about Nuno? He’s insanely talented, like ridiculously talented (really, it’s not fair), and yet he remains so humble and enthusiastic when talking about other giants of the music world. The world needs more Nuno.
550,000 views in 5 days!! Hey Nuno have you seen that?? Wow!!
3.5 million views in 7 days. Nuno is awesome.
We can also say he is the best looking 56 year old I know.
I hope Nuno realizes some of us think of him the same way he thought of Edward. He has been one of my guitar idols ever since the early 90's
Yes totally he was my first guitar idol
Nuno is like a hand grenade of passion. Just pull the pin and stand back! Great interview, loved every second. I was a teen when Extreme hit the scene. I wanted to play like him so bad back then. Awesome to get to hear from him for over an hour Thankyou. 👏👍
Rick's interviews are always worth a look but this is just top shelf, both Nuno himself and the way he gave so much.
This interview is the Holy Grail of what this show/channel is all about. This should get 5 million views. Rick, from this moment forward, no matter how many of these you do, this one will stand as your legacy...
That-was-AWESOME!!!
Nuno absolutely NAILED exactly how I felt when all those albums he was referring to came out and what made me want to be a musician.
Rick. It’s going to be hard to top this interview. And thank you for letting him just ramble, no interruptions, for as long as he did. THAT’S the sign of an excellent interviewer. Kudos to you Rick!
He's really trying to convey a message about the importance of passion and feel in music. It comes through in everything he says.
Rick, you are a fantastic interviewer... you let these artists express themselves, ask the right questions, give them the perfect prompts. This is another great interview!
wow, i was smiling for two hours. Nuno’s passion was oozing. Great interview by Rick, as always…patient and letting the artist pour it all out.
Nuno nailed it. People are starved to hear emotion channeled through a guitar, piano, set of drums. Today's computer driven music is lifeless and the heart and drive of the rhythm of the song and when the solo fits so perfectly in the context of the song is pure magic.
Nuno has been the gold standard in rock since 90's. Great interview!
That chin is the gold standard
@@terrapin323 More than chins
What exactly has he done except be in Extreme? I hear his name often, but fail to recall anything he has done. For niche kinda guy, he is pretty hyped and full of himself.
@@cracknigga His solo projects (mourning widows, population 1, dramagods and solo album) were fking amazing, but that mostly went under the radar unfortunately. He has played with/on Steel Panther, Rihanna (even in the superbowl), Steven Tyler, Generation AXE (Vai, Yngwie etc.), 1 Janet Jackson song, John Paul Jones, Paul Gilbert, Sattelite party (with Tyler Perry) off the top of my head. There's probably more he's done. I always thought he was really humble and not at all full of himself, maybe his sense of humour just doesn't gel with yours? But then again I'm a huge fan and super biased, so idk
upper half of his face does indeed look like it's covered in gold or something.
Another guitar dude who never grew old .. his enthusiasm in guitar never fades..❤
I love listening to Nuno tell story's about Edward so cool. And playing the guitar.
Fantastic. Was this even an "interview"? You've just had to put fresh batteries in and let Nuno fly. What a dude. Humble, giving and full of great anecdotes. Clearly passionate not just about his chosen instrument but music in general. Thank you for post Rick. 👍
It’s like Nuno said about producers- sometimes you just get out of the way

I didn't want the interview to end. Nuno is so wise. A lot of what he says pertains to life outside music as well. Loved hearing him play. I hope Rick has him back for Part 2.
the point Nuno spoke about Queen 2... my fav album of them... i get emotional...
Nuno has so much passion about music, that’s what really inspires me about him. And listening to him talk about the approach is way more meaningful that anything technical he could say.
"To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable". -Beethoven (supposedly)
Elliott Easton is no doubt the most under appreciated guitarist ever. His tone seems impossibly pure.

especially Nuno ☮
Ricky really knows his stuff.and he sits there quietly ,giving his guests all the space and time they enjoy.i never miss a single interview.these musicians open up with no secrets.
This is one of those interviews that you don't often see. This is how guitarists talk to each other in real life and you just don't see it anywhere but with Rick.
In 5 simple words: Best Rick Beato interview ever!
The way Nuno talk, explain and share his opinions is just.... honesty in pure form.
Cheers from Lisbon!
Why is it the best Rick Beato interview ever? Oh... I see, you are only fan of rock, and a huge fan of Nuno Bettencourt
Wow, he seems like such a fantastic dude
I’ve known who Nuno is for like 30+ years but this is the first time I’ve ever heard him speak. I wish I knew how cool this cat is sooner.

I love this guy. His enthusiasm is infectious. He thinks deeply about what he plays. Great interview.
Finally, Elliott Easton gets the nods he deserves. The solo on Shake It Up, played loud and with a little speaker break-up, is just magical. Guy is a guitar genius.
He really is one of the best of all time. The solo for Tonight She Comes is one of my favorites.
Elliot Easton solos are just pure tasteful perfection.
You're so right man.....The solo on Touch and Go is a masterpiece as well.
Nuno is pure soul, pure emotion, pure expression. The epitome of "for the music."
The guy can't help be honest. Authenticity is infectious.
So appealing.
Great interview as always.
Met Nuno in Atlanta yesterday, easily the nicest Rockstar I’ve ever met. He couldn’t have been more kind.
Nuno speaks from the heart. Why can't more people have that passion.
Nuno is 100% the reason why in my 38th year on this planet i decided to learn guitar. That was 7 month ago and I have been playing everyday hooked.
I'm joining you soon my man, on my journey on learning guitar in my 30s. A little bit more saving and hopefully right on my birthday I'll get one
I tried to learn a few times when I was real young but just couldn't..then at 34 it suddenly struck me to learn once and for all and it's going well now 😅
And that's what great musicians like Nuno do: They inspire others!
Nuno is firing on the highest level...this is the best example of an experienced person showing what they've learned in life. This is what the long journey is all about. Thank you so much for this interview!
Except that the nail polish has accomplished nothing over 30 years.
What an all rounded humble individual Nuno is and being a huge fan - I can see that that’s what makes him such an iconic musician - guy is a kid in a candy store..
Wow! What a great interview. Nuno is so chill and a fantastic guitar player who tells a great story, so passionate. The McCartney section really floored me. Rick, dude, you hit it out of the park. Awesome.
Nuno's passion for music is contagious. Incredible musician and songwriter. Bettencourt and Beato, two great ambassadors of music. Great interview!
Still one of my favorites for so many reasons. Massive indisputable talent aside, Nuno embodies the greatest things about what makes music so powerful. He gets it, and his passion is infectious. I hope he never loses that spark. I first saw Nuno and Extreme live, touring with Alice in Chains when they were playing small clubs over 30 years ago. To see him happy, healthy, and still producing music just makes me so happy.
I saw Extreme at the Orpheum Theater in Boston in 1990, had never heard of the opening act…and missed Alice In Chains 😮
Infected me.
@@robpaxson4455 They were great on that tour. I hadn't heard much about them at the time either, but I was impressed with them that night. There was a definite energy difference and vibe between Layne Staley and Cherone for sure though. Cherone and the rest of Extreme were animated and energetic on stage, but Layne pretty much just stood and sang in '90s grunge-era fashion. Still, AIC sounded great and made a fan of me. They definitely didn't get booed off the state by any stretch 😁
@@CCH7540 still one of my biggest regrets, I didn’t even find out that AIC had opened until a few years ago

Cant get enough of this interview. I'm from Azorean parents, born and raised in New Bedford, MA. Crazy how much we have in common growing up and now he's one of the greatest of this time! I was proud of Extreme being from Boston. The first time i saw Kid Ego video with the 🇵🇹 flag on Nunos Amp. on MTV was NUTTS!!! for us!!! Much respect my brother!!
Great vibes, Nuno is clearly comfortable and willing to talk, few questions, smart questions and lots of listening. This is how an interview should be. Just great
Amen. I'm only 24 minutes into the interview and I am struck by how much space Rick Beato gave him. As an Atlantan, we're proud of you, Rick!
Rick's "secret" as an interviewer is simple: natural empathy.
In all my years I’ve never listened to a 2-hour interview with anyone, but Nuno not only kept me engaged, I wanted more. What an enjoyable and worthwhile way to spend the evening. Cheers!
I felt the same way. I will, a lot times, not watch a super long video. I will just not watch it and think, if I am going to watch something for two hours, it is going to be a movie.
Went by fast!
Nuno is one of the best musicians I've ever listened to,and a very humble person. He has always been one of my favorites keep on rocking
Wow! What an amazing man and a great interview. His are some of my favorite songs of all time and, until now, I didn’t even know his name. Thank you for the introduction. And thank you to Jimmy for an amazing body of work.
This interview will be in the archives for centuries. Nuno`s humility and grace is a much needed breath of fresh air in these times. Thank you Rick on so many levels, for what you do AND for doing it better than anyone else.
1:27:30 Loved when Rick stayed quiet instead of pressing more about More than Words after handing Nuno the ‘57 Gibson, and just let Nuno have his moment with the guitar. Rick respectfully recognizes when a moment needs to be given. Loved this interview from beginning to end
I've learned to really appreciate Nuno. He has a humbleness about him.
Best thing I've ever seen in a loooong time! Can't believe the quality and how it makes you feel watching these.. You feel like youre there.. Its transcending... Amazing work.. Both of you!
What Rick Beato is doing with these amazingly inspirational and insightful interviews is way beyond entertainment and music journalism. Decades from now when Nuno, Lanois, Joni Mitchell, Metheny, May, Sting, and all the others are long gone, future generations of passionate music lovers will have this to complete their music education. I just love how he let these musical giants have space to be themselves, provide us with anecdotes, insights and scratch a bit behind the surface of who they are. Thank you Mr Beato, and I continue to look forward to your next episode on UA-cam. Please include Paul Simon on your list of interview objects. Dolly Parton too.....
Yes! Nice words for the man. Hopefully he'll see them or they'll be passed on to him. I would love a Paul Simon interview of this sort. Peace! God bless
And Kerry Livgren too
The passion and emotion Nuno still has is refreshing and if you listen you can truly hear it in his performances 🤘😎🤘🇬🇧
Cocaine
I think, the reason that solo and song resonate so well is because everyone that hears it, for a moment, forgets about everything else and just sits in awe of the beautiful sound reverberating off our ears, brains, and souls. No instagram, no politics, no climate change, just beautiful, jaw dropping passion.
Best interview EVER! So much of what he says is so on point about what music is lacking today…as do you Rick! But above all that, he’s got so much energy…I miss playing in bands!!!
I love the admiration Nuno showed for Elliot Easton from the Cars! Elliot is one of the most underrated guitar payers ever.
Agreed
humbly stated ofc, sat in on a blues rock gig I was tour drummer for few months ago in Houston TX. Despite it being one of Chick Corea’s drummers holdin it down for local bookings, not many attended but someone blindsided me after the show with a compliment I never expected, ‘did you study David Robinson?” Feverishly scanned my brain for which blues or jazz artist he played with then dude elaborated..😊 …crazy how everything we love finds it’s way into whole hearted expression.
The guitar solo on "Since I held you" is one of my favorites of all time ...
Can’t remember the last time I had an unconscious smile on my face for half of a 2 1/2 hour video. Extreme was a huge part of my college years’ soundtrack. Nuno rocks, and he’s totally a class act to boot. If only more of our guitar heroes were like him.
Boy did Nuno nail it when he was talking about going to concerts in the "old" days. The were playing just for me, and they were my friends.
Still the best interview (after watching it 5 times 😂)
Thank you Rick, you are great. Love your work🎸🤘🏼
And Nuno is so real, so funny and so respectful.
Nuno has so much spirit, soul and fire in him that I actually had a hard time breathing getting intoxicated by his enthusiasm. I'm exploding... ❤🤯
That McCartney story was brilliant! It’s like straight out of a movie 😂
This is one of the most inspiring interviews I've ever heard! Thanx to the two of you!
Rick I think you should bring Nuno back, we didn´t get enough of this fine gentleman, his enthusiasm is so contagious!
Nuno’s riffs are just impossible to play without feeling the tambourine type funky subdivision he explained. They’re the perfect blend of funk and rock in that regard.
