- On her new album 'Amata dalle tenebre' the superstar recorded some of the most dramatic and impassioned arias in the repertoire, at Milan’s legendary La Scala, with the Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala under La Scala’s Music Director, Riccardo Chailly. Italian filmmaker Elena Petitti di Roreto has immortalised four of Netrebko’s performances in music videos that form part of a captivating avantgarde music film: “Anna - Stage of Emotions”, a radical mix of the sensual essence of opera and a contemporary visual vocabulary. In recent years, the singer has turned, with notable success, to some of opera’s more dramatic roles and she demonstrates her mastery of this repertoire here as well, bringing colours to Purcell’s aria “ When I am laid in earth” from the opera “Dido and Aeneas”.

Es una de mis óperas preferidas y este lamento del final, lo he escuchado incontables veces en muy diferentes versiones y voces. A Netrebko, a quien admiro profundamente, ha deseado cantarla y ha hecho muy bien. Su tècnica es perfecta y aún sabiendo que está hecha para una mezzo, también sale muy airosa con su voz, cuántas más veces la escucho, ( sin vídeo),más me gusta. No hay que olvidar la dirección de Chailly. El video no ayuda, la persona que lo ha creado pienso que no conoce bien en qué momento está Dido, sobran los tacones al trasluz, los traslucen en general y los fantasmas en los palcos y nos perdemos lo que podría haber sido una gran interpretación dramática de esta gran artista. ( Es mi humilde opinión ).

Henry Purcell was a 17th composer from memory so not sure why you refer to 19th century sensibilities unless you are referring to the style of delivery? Anyway the late Dame Janet Baker's recording from the 1950's or 60's is the definitive version IMHO.
@@anthonyrybicki1000 I would like to point out that such inaccurate editions of Baroque music have not been in use for many decades, and that there is really no need for an anti-historical return in the rendering of masterpieces from different eras.

DG… what is this? I’m not a musician - just an opera fan despite being in my 20s. But what are these sh!tty music videos and who is on the team making these decisions? One after another, they’re so cringey! They make opera look like old people that get too much Botox: just trying so hard to be “young”. This is actually horrible, embarrassing, and awkward. I understand wanting to do things that are more modern, but Big Bird’s orange brother called and he wants his outfit back. I can assure you: this is not the way to make opera look “cool”. I showed this to my friends and they laughed hysterically.

Криминал и стыдоба так не разбираться , не знать даже что это за платье и что оно символизирует в данном случае. Ещё о каких то нотах заговорила. Где то хейтерша услышала звон и прибежала калом разбрасываться. Каждая из таких мнит себя наполеоном. Вот беда то.
Фальши нет ! Она имеет прекрасную технику, просто это роль написана для меццо - сопрано, а не для лирич.сопрано.
