If I ever end up heading there Doug I will reference my liked videos on UA-cam 🤩🙌🙌 thanks for sharing the knowledge my brother! You guys were brave challenging that river 😲🙏🙏👊
If I was closer I'd definitely be doing this really soon...... But since I'm not I'll have to wait until I can do a vacation to get up there..... That trip came with some good challenges that I know of like.....Thanks for the info Doug.....
It’s not something you do every weekend so I don’t mind putting out the money for a bigger trip like this once a Summer Derek. Thanks for watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Great information for anyone who's thinking about doing that Doug, Nothing worse than getting there and your stuck between a rock and a hard place, thanks for sharing brother ATB Jim.
How's she goin'? Some great info here Doug!!! The main take away for me on all this is 'be prepared'!!! Sounds like you had lots of 'plan B' plans made and that's smart back country preparedness!!! Way to go. Sure looks like a trip to remember brother!! Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
Hey Mike! Planning and preparation is key to any backcountry trip especially these days when we are so reliant on the ease of having a cell phone at our disposal but when there is no signal things change. Thanks for watching brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Absolutely!! I was thinking of bringing my fibreglass canoe and that would have been a huge mistake. You can easily tell I’m a flat water guy 😂. Appreciate you watching my friend!
Great infos on that fantastic canoe trip and the two parts videos is a must to watch 👌👍🙌💪 Side note your shirt is marvellous and hopefully one our Expos will be back⚾️⚾️⚾️
Great info Doug. It's memories you can't buy. Also the camera never does things justice like the size of the rocks and rapids. I didn't realise you hired the boats, they certainly took a besting. Cheers 👍🍻
On a trip like this it’s a huge advantage renting the canoes that are made for this type of abuse Stevie. When things go sideways is when you create the memories. Appreciate you watching brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Good info about taking a big trip like that. This trip reminded me of when I canoed the boundary waters between Minnesota and Canada. We did not encounter water as challenging though. We did have to portage quite a bit, which is not fun at all.
Lol we found that out multiple times my friend. Water stays outside the canoe 😂. White water can definitely make your trip interesting. Thanks for watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
@@PinetreeLine Brilliant trip. One is you got to ride a train to do it. Bonus score on that. I am still unable to go and kayak. I will be kayaking my brains out late Fall I think. I so need it
Awesome video of my favorite river in Ontario! I've been paddling the Spanish yearly for well over a decade. You have to go back and do the elbow to Agnew lake (in higher water levels). There are some mandatory short portages, but the Royal Ride is the best part.
Thanks so much!! I can see why you make this a yearly trip and yes the plan is to go back at some point when the water is at normal levels and go through to Agnew. I will keep the Royal Ride in mind. Appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! 👍🏻👊🏻
Hi Doug. Good information. We have several canoe outfitters, not that far from us. The prices, including the train really didn't sound to outrageous. To bad the water wasn't a little deeper. Take care brother 🇺🇸🤝🇨🇦
Awesome info video Doug. Makes me want to go do this trip. I was supposed to do it a few years back, the winter we were planning the trip, 3 trains derailed up near the watershed.. oil leaked all over the place... looks like a wicked canoe trip though
Thanks so much! We did the West Branch from The Forks to The Elbow. It’s an amazing experience and I’m sure your family will love it. Appreciate you watching! Doug
I miss those canoe camping trips with pops when I was younger... but after seeing some of your shots, maybe I dont 😬. Still, this does look like a good time, TY.
Great info Doug👍 definitely worth the money spent on someone else’s canoe 😆 One question. Any advice on what type of tripod one should bring on this trip? 🤣 🤣🤣 Thanks buddy🍻
Hi Leah…in this case you can flag down the train because it’s a short 10 or so car passenger train that can stop fairly quickly. Definitely a rough float 😂. You and Tracy will enjoy it someday? 🤔
There are some crazy white water opportunities in Ontario and Ottawa has some of them. The flies weren’t too bad, bearable until about 10pm, their supper time 😂

Hopefully it will help some people who want to take this kind of trip Jim. Rock and a hard place is right brother 😂 👍🏻👊🏻
This is awesome info! Helps out a ton, look forward to planning something like this next summer!

Like 50. Thanks for the info. Yeah, good idea to rent the proper canoe - that can handle the roughness of white water rafting.
Absolutely!! I was thinking of bringing my fibreglass canoe and that would have been a huge mistake. You can easily tell I’m a flat water guy 😂. Appreciate you watching my friend!

Thanks so much Laurent! Yes I can’t wait for the day our favourite team comes back!! Thanks Brother!! 👍🏻👊🏻
The water flow is pretty strong
It is very strong even though it’s pretty shallow in spots. Thanks so much for watching my friend! 😊
Hellow my friend good morning. Nice over looking shout out from Philippines 🇵🇭❤️

Hi Doug..
Great you sharing your knowledge..
Cheers Famo59 👍🍻⛏🤓
Thanks Tony! Appreciate you watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Do I need to speak spanish to enjoy the river? Ha, Cheers, thanks for the video found it helpful.
Don’t need to speak Spanish but anyone who you meet up with while doing the trip would surely be impressed 😉. Thanks for watching! 👍🏻😊
Good info about taking a big trip like that. This trip reminded me of when I canoed the boundary waters between Minnesota and Canada. We did not encounter water as challenging though. We did have to portage quite a bit, which is not fun at all.
The Boundary are famous. We have many government parks in Ontario and they present the same issue, lots of portages. Thanks for watching Brother! 👊🏻👍🏻
That’s a lot of good information brother! An amazing and challenging trip that you guys crushed!
Thanks so much for saying so Brother! Hopefully the information helps others interested in doing the trip. 👍🏻👊🏻
Listening to this going “these are like prices from distant history”. Very reasonable!
The train and provincial camping are still affordable here for now Smitty. Hopefully it stays that way. Thanks for watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Hey Guys canoes don't work well if filled with water.
Awesome trip and a comprehensive how to. White water can be crazy especially with low water
Lol we found that out multiple times my friend. Water stays outside the canoe 😂. White water can definitely make your trip interesting. Thanks for watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻

Thanks Mike! You’d love it brother and in ideal water conditions it’s much better from what Todd and Ray were saying. Appreciate you Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Almost finished part one. My family is thinking of doing this next summer with our kids (10/12)
Did you do the east or west arm?
Thanks so much! We did the West Branch from The Forks to The Elbow. It’s an amazing experience and I’m sure your family will love it. Appreciate you watching! Doug
I miss those canoe camping trips with pops when I was younger... but after seeing some of your shots, maybe I dont 😬. Still, this does look like a good time, TY.
Lol it was still a lot of fun Matt despite it’s challenges. Appreciate you watching brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
Great info Doug👍 definitely worth the money spent on someone else’s canoe 😆 One question. Any advice on what type of tripod one should bring on this trip? 🤣 🤣🤣
Thanks buddy🍻
You wanna bring a floating tripod if possible….ask me how I know 😂 👍🏻👊🏻
From my perspective it's interesting to see the costs, and compare them to what something like that would cost here...a second mortgage required here.
That’s crazy Si! Prices here for this kind of trip make it affordable for most. Thanks for watching Brother! 👍🏻👊🏻
@@PinetreeLine I've just looked into prices of canoe hire in the lakes here as we maybe be going next month...£15...an hour ($26 Canadian).
