Barbarians season 2 episode 1 Latin scene 5: Varus' mission, Latin subtitles included

- This rather long trialogue between Varus, Tiberius, and Germanicus contains some words I do not understand clearly enough (the respective places are marked with a question mark). If you know better what they are saying, please tell me.
There are several versions of the Latin dialogues; for example, the German version of the movie differs slightly from the Italian one. The present version is Czech, the only one I had available for adding subtitles. It's not the best, but in some cases the Latin is clearer than in other versions.
The trialog's transcription with my commentary:
Tiberi imperator, ignoscas oro.

Advenit tibi flavus Quinctilius Varus
Flavus Varus?
Huc ausus adire?!

Germanice, proconsul.

Nomen caesaris in ore fratris Arminii.
Hic adsum occulti muneris gratia [wrongly pronounced, in this version] ad Arminium proditorem capiendum. Iussu ipsius caesaris [in this version "ipsis caesari", which is wrong] augusti. ??? [what they say here, seems clear enough, but it does not make sense. Other versions are incomprehensible] turmalium quinquaginta a te [in other verion "te rogo", not "a te rogo", both is possible] rogo qui mihi auxilio adsint [here wrongly "adsit"] ad munus honestum, Tiberi imperator.

Iussane accepisti nulla?

Sane me fallit cur iussum perlatum non sit, domine.

Roma sapientia sua scit solum meum cognatum capere posse. [as if the pronoun "me" was missing: Roma... scit ME solum meum etc.]

Domine, Arminium captivare possum. [Either the endings of "captivare" and "possum" are messed, now and in the following sentences, in this version, or I am missing something].

Tiberius’s Latin is kind of awkward with a few notable pronunciation error and inconsistency.
All three of them are making pronunciation errors.

Turn on the English auto-translate, you'll thank me later. Flavus Varus becomes "Yellow Varus". Funny as that is, it also makes sense. Flavonoids, those healthy polyphenols in fruits and vegetables, are yellow in pure form. Flavan-Flavus, you can see the similarity

Awful dubbing, a testment for how bad barbarians 2 is, absolutely unwatchable
What do you mean, horrible dubbing when it's the original audio?
@@LucasHorst-zi3rl Arminium is the only one speaking, or maybe he's dubbing himself better than the other two, that are clearly awful in dubbing themselves, look at the lips, at the sound, you can catch them off
@@Augustus_Imperator I saw it perfectly and they are not being dubbed it is the original audio and they are speaking in Latin you can see it clearly by looking at their lips it is very easy to distinguish an original audio and a dub

Such bad acting ... shame what they did to Barbarians... season 1 was decent.
Homemade dubbing?
Not at all, as far as I know. It was the only version I found to work with. It must have been downloaded from Netflix by someone.
@@adammackerle7843 Ah ok. I was asking because the voices are different than the originals on the Netflix show. Germanicus still quite similar, but Flavius and Tiberius' are definitely different ones. And since dubbers-wanna-be do the dubbing from existing TV shows and films to use it material for their portfolio I thought this was the case...
@@etb3729 Yes, you are right. It seems that even on Netflix there are several verisons; it depends on what language version you are watching. See e.g. the English and the Italian versions, they differ.
@@adammackerle7843 You are too! Why doing again the Latin part if the actors are already speaking Latin?? 🤷♂️ it doesn't make sense! Anyhow, thanks for uploading it. That's one of my favorite scenes.
I guess it's because of the dubbing. When the dubber's voice is too different from the original actor's, they prefer to have him recite the Latin part as well. So it sounds more natural. But that's just a guess.
