What the Hell is The Man in The Suit? Analog Horror Analysis
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лют 2024
- Movies, murders, sets, tragedy, puppets, audio tapes, and of course... GODZILLA. This analog horror series has it all! After a strange transformation on set, the actor playing Godzilla is stuck in the monster suit with no way to get out. But as time passes everyone wants to know, maybe he doesn't want to get out.

can’t believe you didn’t give the best example of method acting ever, ryan gosling mailing margot robbie gifts everyday “from ken” so he could tap into his “kenergy”
He *_IS_* Kenough.
Is that real ?
That’s like the complete opposite of the Suicide Squad Joker sending his costars rats and condoms
@@killerflamingo9566 yeah it’s stated in a few interviews with the cast, you can look it up if you want to
@@BelBelle468he WHAT????
I love how they kept using the guy in the suit despite the thing being fused to his body lol. "Hey, get that guy who can't get outta Goji! What do I look like ovah here, eh, like I'm made of suits?!" "Hey, good one boss!"
This is just the true peak of method acting
"The show must go on" taken to the extreme
Honestly the least believable part of this. Toho only gives a shit about money so why would they keep using him when clearly keeping him around and having to cover up multiple incidents is costing them more than just making another suit lol. Plus them having to pay the government to keep them quiet.
In the description of the 7 updates video it implies that they are being forced by the japanese goverment to keep it alive and use the money they make from the movies to finance something, but we dont know why
The fact TMITS was made using a phone is insane
IT FUCKIN WAT?!
*Impressive is an understatement*
Maybe if you told someone back when Gojira was being filmed that would be seen as impressive. Nowadays people make whole as movies on their phones.
The earlier episodes of Mandela catalogue were also made on a phone too I'm pretty sure. I'm glad film has gotten to the point where even someone can make great stories so easily :]
I can very easily believe that
Goji in this series seems very inspired by Shin Godzilla. The constant evolution and mutation is obvious, but the red vomit might have come from a deleted scene from that movie. Maybe the eyeball that was found could be a reference to another deleted scene where parts of Godzilla's flesh that were blown off grow eyes.
The whole spirits possessing godzilla seems to take inspiration from GMK, where godzilla is revived by the ghosts of the japanese who died in ww2
@@bensadfleck9972 correction godzilla in that movie was revived by the Spirits of people who were KILLED by the japenese in ww2 with his oponents being the souls of the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
I think the man in the suit represents godzilla...
I am become Lizard, Destroyer of Tokyo.
I Am Become Lizard- Aw Yeah.
I agree with this statement
The original quote would be Shin lol
Tf is that profile picture
@@novacraft257 😭😭
the guy in the suit aka Goji lost his family during the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings, and he caught radiation 2nd hand as a result likely being around the area where they happened, hence why not only did he unintentionally fuse into the suit while not being in a rational state of mind, but it's also why he has such a distinct hatred towards Americans
Too late for mankind?! I mean know it's weird, but it's a guy. In a suit. Then at some point, he'll become an 8 foot rubber lizard. I think we can weather this storm.
Rubber is very resilient!
@@theauthor6669 😂
He is irradiated tho
“At some point” Yeah, he’ll be an 8 foot tall rubber lizard, but it seems like he’s mutating even worse. At some point he’ll grow more, until you have something that you can’t just shoot like a dude in a rubber costume.
@noise3312 worse comes to worse, we just hit him with a few more reasons of why he's mad in the first place. Although it'll probably just mutate him more. Or cut a deal with King Ghidorah.
22:39 it’s the same as the description: “I am not a monster. I will kill those who have wronged me, those who murmured my family, and those who supported them. You. You killed my family! You monsters!”
20:08 Using a cream-filled doughnut as an analogy in an analog horror is hilarious
I always read it as the Twinkie analogy from Ghostbusters, or similar to it.
I will say that The Man in the Suit definitely has room for improvement and Unkowingly is undoubtedly trying his best, he doesn’t deserve all the hate, however once he gets more resources I feel like he could make this into Walten Files quality
18:19 Hes talking about how the americans bombed hiroshima and Nagasaki, how the americans took his family, how they were supposed to make a video about what the americans did. However, they did a collaboration with the americans instead.
Skill issue
@@JohnZombi88 i agree
womp womp
There’s something about this i don’t like. Like sure at the time i am certain there were TONS of Japanese that hated America. That only makes sense. But like if the whole production crew was cool with making the movie, and he started being hostile to all the Americans, he should have been put down or locked up before he mutated further. And why does he think he’s justified attacking people who didn’t have any remote connection with the bombs dropping?
@@2yoyoyo1Unplugged if you had a grudge against america literally any american you see is an enemy
I really like the VHS Tape Idea you came up with - its a great way to honor those creators work! It also neatly recalls your first intros!
The video was good, but I find The Man in the Suit story less scary as it progresses. Being a fan of Godzilla and other such productions, I know about the history about the whole series, and I know this isn't real or not very real. Yeah, I know ARGs aren't supposed to be real, but this kind of lack that creepiness. such as Gemini Home Entertainment and Greylock.
I feel like if they went harder into goofiness it would be more entertaining. I imagine this series was created by a younger person who to them, Godzilla seems like ancient history.
Analog horror no arg
@@woodchuck94og pretty much the same thing, dude.
@@JacobKaiju no not really
@@JacobKaijuARGs have more puzzle elements, that's why they're "Games". They're not inherently scary. Analog Horror is a sub genre of Horror. ARGs are not the same as Analog Horror in the same way that Video Games are not the same as First Person Shooters.
They told me i had to wear a suit for the job interview, never said what kind of suit tho
I really wanted to like this one, but knowing so much about the production and Haruo Nakajima and the literal hell he went through to make Godzilla a reality, I couldn't take it seriously. Maybe if I understood it as an alternate timeline, but still. I'm not saying it's a BAD production, far from it, but I just couldn't get into it.
Well, I'm pretty sure Haruo Nakajima isn't ya know "Goji". For me its better to just throw the behind the scenes knowledge and watch it and don't apply.
Yeah, I have the same problem. Perhaps I'm too much of a Godzilla nerd, but the premise doesn't allow me to suspend my disbelief because I know too much about the production behind these movies.
This is the issue with the production though: if an unfiction or analog horror series is targeted to a fandom or group, it shouldent alienate the biggest fans of that fandom. I also just... Cant take it seriously. It reads like a poor creepypasta, personally. Its skilled work for a first time production, but feels misguided and living in the shadow of other works.
Fair enough.
@@KokoMakesThingsI kinda love how its not afraid to be silly and is done in earnest. I liked old creepypasta though.
15:48 it's "hee-ro-seh".
Yeah, that part gave me conniptions.

I feel like its less intimidating when you remember he's still man sized and not a giant monster capable of destroying cities
Actually had a lot of fun with this one. Not perfect by any means, but with suspension of disbelief can be an enjoyable ride. Thanks for covering it! You did a wonderful job!
Was wondering, are you still going to check out TRYRED WITNESS ARCHIVES sometime in the near future?
I beg for this to happen it’s one of my favorites
TMITS has some interesting visuals, concept and scary moments, but it sure has some extremely contrived and weird moments that get me out of it -_-, like the donut overcomplicated tangent or the "oh no we need a person for the larva!" moment; let alone the base issue of "we have noone else to play godzillla oh no".
But i guess its a problem born from the baseline premise of a vengative japanese family man taking on an excentric delusion throu a fake dinosaur suit, but sillywilly radioactiveness makes it a real delusion, while still remaining a delusion.
Idk man... I think the premise is awesome, but the execution is way off. There's waaaaaay too much text.
Im glad im not the only one who thinks this. It really irritates me that such a good concept is wasted by an awful execution
It was the atomic bomb, not the hydrogen bomb.
You have no idea the sheer amount of psychic damage you inflicted on me by mispronouncing the name "Hirose" as "High-row-s"
Its pronounced "He-row-say"
Don’t forget Anguirus
Let’s goooooo. Can’t wait for this one Pagan
What really ruins my ability to enjoy this series, is the fact that the actual real behind the scenes story for the guys who really played Godzilla and friends, are publicly available and easily accessible. And knowing the real story really destroys any suspension of disbelief I could have while watching this story progress, because I know it’s all fake.
How is this different from any other alternate history story?
@@GermanKinsmen this series doesn’t really strike me as alternate history, it strikes me more as the “here’s the truth about what really happened” type of vibe/trope.
@@CRC-1904 So does X-Files, and yet I'm quite certain I can factually disprove the events from X-Files from having happened.
@@GermanKinsmen touché
I mean, if you watch analogue horror and you’re expecting it to be true to life… why are you watching lmao? No offense, but it’s literally about a crazy dude in a Godzilla suit who got irradiated. Of course it didn’t really happen, and I don’t think it’s meant to be a “This is the truth” because the fucker started running around the city, was on the news, etc. I think you’re looking at this too seriously. Look at the series as alternate history, in a world where Toho was secretive about the production. That’s literally all you need to enjoy it lmao.
I want the King Kong actor to come back mutated in the suit and fight goji from his god complex
I had the idea of Kong’s actor survived the attack and is currently hunting down the Man in the Suit before he hurts more people.
@@rickyrackey7930 then one of the episodes could be “The Godzilla vs Kong movie was actually us just filming the two monsters in the suits fight and we used practical effects to make it a movie” Or just have the set for the movie be a grudge match between the two
@@cactispartan I already said that survived drowning and is helping the cameraman hunt down the Man in the suit.
42:02 Never before have I heard someone pronounce Ghidorah in such a way.

I have heard it pronounced like that, there's a lot of ways to say Ghidorah
@@5spec oh yeah. Gii-dra, Gii-der-Ra, Ga-Door-ah and then the way a lot of Kaiju fans know it Gii-Door-Ra
But nothing makes me cringe more when people mispronounce Anguiris. We remember Angweenus from Final Wars, right? XD
I wonder if this guy eventually develop a real breath weapon
This is just a partial theory, but I don’t think Goji just randomly vomited blood out into the wood.
I think he ejected himself from the suit to escape the grasp of Toho after being disillusioned from working with Americans and their acceptance to do so. Especially from how they limit him from creating more suit monsters.
The eyeball is pretty interesting, since it was already stated that his body is just fused with the suit. Either the pool of blood is another entity in gestation, or TMINTS has left the constraints to become the America destroying size the Japanese Government wants him to be.
3:09
One thing I like is how we have already established a divergence from reality. The suit in reality was incredibly heavy and had little room for air, leading to Nakajima (the man in the suit) having to take breaks to stop himself from passing out. Excited to see where this goes
Edit: aaaaand it reads like a shitty creepy pasta lmfao. Nevermind
Is this why we're not getting another Shin Godzilla?
The way he pronounces anguris makes me unfathomablely upset
People saying "sorry if I mispronounce some Japanese words" when you can just look them up on google
Dont mind me going on a vacation to Japan in my hyper realistic rhodan suit
"and these are the pictures" has been ruined for me XD
Will say though, the nukes that went off over japan were high enough up that the fallout was pretty minimal. The issue is when the xray wave hits solid matter and the neutron flux makes everything radioactive.
This is my first time watching one of your videos, so I don't know how you usually go about with the sound balancing. But in the segments where it's just you speaking on camera with a voice effect to make yourself sound a little more like an old VHS, it's significantly quieter, and the parts where you're simply voicing over is about in between and makes it difficult to get immersed in the video (especially during the loud stings of the story you're covering).
Otherwise, this is a really interesting story, and I'm thankful for being introduced to it.
I couldn't get through the series because it was full of typos, so i'm just gonna listen to this instead :')
The SBSP reference made both me and my 6 year old laugh 😂
What a weird little horror
Really enjoying this breakdown, take care until next time.
im gonna be so real - this series is why i'm super into godzilla movies now. i know it's not the greatest quality analog horror series, but i find the concept to be super interesting. i really think some people are being way too critical of the man in the suit.
I love the insight; just a slight bit of advice to slightly increase your voice audio during your time on camera it was a bit difficult to hear at times.
This is a very silly series but man the fact that some of the images were made on phone is crazy
The power of mind over matter is no joke. When you put your mind into what you're doing, things happen, things rearrange. This is one reason why actors reach Oscar awards, they become the thing they impersonate. For many of them things can get ugly from there.
WHAT DID YOU SEE OLD MAN?
15:47 "high rose" is not how Hirose is pronounced. It's pronounced "HEE-roh-Seh". There is no such thing as a silent "e" in Japanese, much less one that changes how the words are pronounced.

The concept is really cool, especially if you know about how hellish the early Showa era suit was (it reached up to 140° F in that thing). However, the grammatical errors and typos really drag it down.

Just a bit curious but have you ever looked into “ANOMALY”’s work before? They’ve made many different analog horrors (most notably the real, and m’rohoj)
I think the suit was being pumped with radiation before the man exploded into it
I couldn’t sleep for 3 days because of the stare of Goji in this
Why didn't they just fire him

Sad to see that analog horror peaked at gemini home entertainment
Monument Mythos imo, although not in terms of horror so much as in terms of creativity
I met the original suit actor in person!
So, the man in the suit is an angry man, with a God complex, without a true target other than, in truth, people who just wanted the war to be over as quickly as possible.
Either that or a tragic soldier fighting a pointless war, unaware of how pointless it is or of the fact that he has become worse than his enemy, intending to cause a similar level of destruction with even less justification.
White person spotted.
