This "circle of support" friends is a win win for all the people involved.
The kids with the disabilities get support, and the supporters learn empathy, compassion, humility, and tolerance.

In general, I would strongly advise against quoting from or supporting Autism Speaks. I also have never heard of "toxins" being one of the major known causes of ASD. There is very little actually known about the role that toxins and pollution in the environment plays in autism, and preying upon such fears causes desperate parents to turn to methods like chelation to "cure" their children. On the contrary, there have been numerous contradictory studies on the role various toxins play, and advanced paternal age is by far a higher factor in the prevalence of ASD than any kind of toxin ever studied, with the possibility of having a child on the spectrum 20% higher for every 10 years older the father is.
Mrs. Neihart knows scarcely anything about the origins of ASD and I don't know why it's even spoken about in this lecture. Was the purpose to educate about how to support 2e children, or to share uninformed platitudes about the origins of autism?
