Southern Style Shrimp and Grits l Easy Recipe - This recipe is very easy to make and can be made by seasoned cooks or beginners. Southern Style Shrimp and Grits is a staple in the south as well as New Orleans. It's considered Cajun and southern cooking. Hopefully this video will help you to make this Southern Style Shrimp and Grits recipe at home and you'll get to enjoy the taste of this dish as I have done many times.
Southern Style Shrimp and Grits l Easy Recipe
// INGREDIENTS
-1 lb. medium to large peeled and deveined shrimp (preferably tail off, your choice)
-1/2 cup milk
-2 cups grits
-1/2 stick unsalted butter
-1/2 tablespoon salt
-1/2 tablespoon ground black pepper
-1/2 tablespoon onion and garlic powder
-1 tablespoon old bay seasoning
-1/2 lb. thick cut smoked bacon
-1/2 tablespoon dry thyme leaves
-1/2 cup bell peppers
-1/2 cup onions
-1 tablespoon fresh garlic
-1/4 cup scallions
-1/2 lemon juiced
-1/2 tablespoon garlic & herb seasoning (optional)
-2 cups chicken broth
-1 cup shredded sharp cheddar

This is my second time preparing this dish for my children. I have one that will try everything 😋! The other one won't try anything. I followed your recipe and when the onions,bell pepper and garlic, hit that pan and the scent went up he ran downstairs quickly. Mom what is that I am smelling???? He even offered to be my test person tonight. He had two plates and said he couldn't wait for morning...he was having this again before school. I will try more of your recipes. My son so 😍 loved your shrimp and grits. Thank you again.

I’m cooking shrimp and grits tonight. I thought I check out a couple of you tube videos. I watched several before yours, yours is the BEST! No doubt you’re from the country. There were several giveaways. The whole time you were chopping vegetables your sink was running water. You obviously have your own well. The cast iron pan was the second giveaway. Garlic powder, onion powder was the third one. By that time my mouth was watering. You say you’re kids like their grits a little thin, I like mine a little thicker. I’m 54 now my two girls are in their 30’s. We learned how to cook together. They would stand in chairs at the stove and we would cook together. We still argue about who is the better chef. I definitely have subscribed to your channel. Thanks for sharing.
By the way I’m also from the country. Garlic powder, and onion powder are staple seasonings. I too have my own well and a wooden spoon that is a little burnt on one side 🤣.

I've never had shrimp and grits before and have wanted to try it forever it seems! I happened to have all the ingredients for yours so I made it tonight and OH MY GOODNESS! Add a little cayenne to the shrimp and try using heavy cream instead of milk in the grits. Other than that, spot on!

I thought you were supposed to make a rue in southern shrimp and grits, mane! You don't sound like you from the south, mane. You gotta redo this, or change it to northern style shrimp and grits, mane. It look ight, but you didn't do it right. I'm just saying, mane.
Appreciate the feedback bro. I lived in North Carolina for about 6 years but born and raised in Connecticut. I do plan on doing this recipe again but in my opinion it’s the New Orleans style that uses a roux.

Ok, not to be rude..that is not a meal from the continuous seasoning ..and who let's "shrimp cook down"...shrimp depending on the size cook in less than 6mins...
The grits...u put all the same seasoning u basically put in the shrimp (salt overload)...sighs...thanks bruh... for trying...oops watery grits thickened by cheese...OMG!!!
