- Hey y'all! Welcome back to my little corner on UA-cam! Today we're making SHRIMP AND GRITS! This is a southern classic and family favorite in my neck of the woods. This recipe also features a thick and creamy cajun gravy. Y'all, it's so delicious that you're going to be upset that I didn't share it any sooner, lol. FULL LIST OF INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 - 1lb RAW Shrimp (Deveined/ Peeled/ Cleaned)
- 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
- Chicken Broth (Grits= 3 Cups and Gravy= 3 Tbsp)
- 1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
- Cajun Seasoning Blend:
- 1/2 Tsp Old Bay
- 1/2 Tsp Creole Seasoning (Tony's or Slap Ya Mama)
- 1/2 Tsp Paprika
- 1/2 Tsp Black Pepper or Lemon Pepper
- 1 Small Red Bell Pepper, Diced
- 1 Small Green Bell Pepper, Diced
- 1 Small White Onion, Diced
- 1 Garlic Clove, Minced or 1 Tsp Minced Garlic
- Fresh Parsley, Chopped
GRITS:
- 1 Cup Quick Grits ( Yields 2-4 Servings)
- 1 Tbsp Butter
- Salt & Pepper to Taste
- 3 Cups Chicken Broth

I consider myself a good cook since I've been doing it for almost 50yrs! BUT I MADE THIS RECIPE AND IT'S THE BEST DISH I'VE EVER MADE! I have never had shrimp & grits, grew up eating grits for breakfast. Hubby & I do not eat shell fish nor pork but after watching this mouth watering video, I had to come up with SOMETHING to substitute in this AMAZING dish! I whipped up some blackening seasoning, coated some Mahi Mahi fillets with it, threw it in the tabletop Blackstone & WOW! It worked excellent with your grits & creole gravy!!! I thank you so very much for sharing your recipe! Can hardly wait to try another one of your recipes!

This recipe is the bomb, I followed the steps but used different ingredients. I didn’t have chicken stock, but the heavy whipping cream worked just fine by itself! I too trusted you after hearing your accent! 😁
I used corn and onion, I was fresh out of garlic and bell pepper, but as soon as I go grocery shopping I will indeed make this recipe again! My fiancé and daughter had no complaints! Thank you again for this!

What else can I say that everybody else hasn't already said. This is the shrimp and grits that I've always enjoyed down on the gulf coast for many years. If you're in Talladega Alabama for the bass tournament this is the shrimp and grits you get. BOOM!!!!!

This is one recipe for shrimp n grits I will try! We Winter in Charleston. SC to be near our son’s family for a couple of months, and since discovering this dish years ago while down there. I try it in just about every restaurant we go to! Some places make it too spicy for my liking; some are great.

I stopped by to steal the gravy recipe - it rocks!! I make cheese grits that includes bacon, andouille, onions & mushrooms (gotta push the veggies and bacon is a veg, js). I also add Worcester & Louisiana hot sauce to my broth to cook the grits. Great recipes, thank you!!
