    I flew this plane on December 10, 1973 when I was 16 years old out of Clow airport in Illinois. I decided to look up the registration. I'm glad it's still flying.

      He's done amazing things. Not too long after this was recorded, he flew passenger Caravans up in Alaska. After that, he flew Learjets for a charter company, now he's a captain on Regional jets.

      You absolutely nailed it! He's now a captain at PSA, flying CRJ's.
      Prior to that, he flew Learjets for Clay Lacy and even did a year or so of flying up in Alaska in the Caravan. facebook.com/PSAairlines/photos/a.547322475347811/2098371700242873/?type=3&theater

    I noticed you descend onto the unusable portion of the runway and float past the displaced threshold before you set her down. Is that how you were taught to land?
    I am not saying it is wrong by any means, just wondering about the origin of your techique.
    Also, what is your airspeed on final? You seem to float a long ways. 1.3 Vso would give you less float.
    Good job on the flying, btw. I learned in a Cherokee too.

    • @sansaratech
      @sansaratech 9 років тому +5

      Lou Spam That airframe carries a lot of energy forward even at low approach speed and 2-3 notches of flap. It wants to keep flying. He's taking advantage of the DT to level off and bleed away some of that energy before wheels down. No reason to get so close to minimum if you have room to stretch out.

    When I started the video, I was so happy to see how young the pilot was. Too many young people just sit and thumb their devices... Our aviation community is slowly dying because nobody is interested in flying anymore. Nice landings sir!!!

    • @TomCook1993
      @TomCook1993 2 роки тому

      Actually we have more pilots now than we ever have had. The problem isn’t lack of interest it’s that most of the pilots learning to fly are learning to fly for commercial reasons and not for hobby flying. Hard to keep people in the GA community when they all go to the airlines.

      OK, it's really the trim. Later 140s have the trim wheel between the seats. I think the roof location was better and easier to reach.
