Always wear the deep V undershirt: it drives me crazy when I see uniforms (police and fire especially) with their underwear showing, it's just inappropriate!
100%, I still have a coma patient body so wearing anything short sleeve is a no go. Making the sleeve smaller won't help anything, it's one of those situations where you workout or don't wear it
I am a taller fuller guy who has serious sweating issues and I also live in Florida. Layering so many times is an issue for the reasons I mentioned. Can’t wait for your summer fashion videos that address this!
As a long time viewer who lives in the Philippines and who's in his mid-20's, I really appreciate this video because it gives me the opportunity and knowledge to better my style. Long sleeve shirts and dress shirts aren't used here frequently, at least outside. So short sleeve polos are the way to go to having both style and professionalism.
So many dos and donts. I do what I want, dont care. I have several Lands End polos that are vintage but still in great condition because they never see the clothing dryer, always air dried. You do you.
Hello Antonio! About the finishing on the fabrics, it’s not “peek”, it’s “piqué”, with a more pronounced and open “eh” in the end. Keep the contents coming! 😊
Before the pandemic, I decided to go with knit polos, typically in merino wool. I prefer the texture of the knitted fabric, and it raises the interest level under sports jackets). Plus, the collar holds up much better after multiple wears; the fit and feel are fantastic (comfortable even on hot days), and the look is far more flattering. I've had enough of poor-quality cotton polos (broadcast as high-quality) that lost their shape after a few washes.
I used to wear undershirts beneath my polo shirts often (cause of nipples popping out 😁 and to prevent sweat stains) but I've always felt that it was wrong doing it so. This was indeed a really informative video as I personally wear polo shirts way often due to the hot and humid weather in my country. Thanks a lot Mr. Centeno, have a great day !🙏
If your wearing a polo like the blue one you're wearing try a "slick collar" so that you're plackets don't collapse like yours are. A must for a softer material especially unbuttoned how you're wearing it
My Polos are Cotton/Poly but do an excellent job of wicking away moisture so I definitely agree that performance fabrics have come a long way. Mine look nice tucked into Wool trousers and Chinos.
Basically if you want to pop your collar you can. And I’ve never judged anyone for popping their collar, I’ve never even thought anything of it whenever I see it (apart from it being trendy in the 2000s)
I really loved the look of Daniel Craig in the Venice scenes in Casino Royale with the long sleeve blue polo and grey t-shirt under, another channel also talked about not wearing an under shirt that was noticeable, I used to wear it like that 15 years ago when I was a teen and was thinking about doing it all again
So much rules and yet Steve McQueen an absolute icon on fashion wore perry much everything the way he thought it was cool and turns out everyone else felt the same way, that it was cool 😉
I really like polo shirts, I don’t even have T-Shirts, only polos, and my very favourite that just fit me perfect are Calvin Klein pique slim fit polos, just the right length to be worn untucked and not too tight and just perfect fit, they look perfect on me and make me feel better, confident and comfortable, I mostly wear them with slim fit jeans.
I always wear a crew neck white undershirt with my polos. I prefer the look of the undershirt covering my skin rather than my skin being visible there. Otherwise, I agree with everything else. Great video as always.
My family just got invited to a wedding in August. It's a long time away and I don't know if we'll even be going but boy did it send me into a headspin. All your videos flashed before my eyes like I was dying or something. I know I keep commenting this but I don't do well in the heat and wearing a polo would never have occurred to me so thank you for this video on the exact day I needed it. You truly are doing great work.
Watching this video, I had to stop midway to try on one of my newest and now favorite short sleeved polos. It is by Natural Issue brand. I bought it last year at a local thrift store. I thought it might be too big on me. I just tried it on with a navy blazer. As you suggested that we try new things. It has a navy collar and it has sailboats in the pattern which is a very soft white and blue. Works great, as long as it is tucked in. I am thinking white linen slacks with that combo. I love a nautical theme! I have two long sleeved polos. One is blue and the other is yellow. Being blonde, the colors work for me and the long sleeves keep the sun off my arms in summer. All of those are pique. I do have a navy merino wool long sleeved polo for winter. It looks great with a camel colored blazer, especially for events.
I just came here because we get a work issued polo shirt but I still want to look sharp. I don't have the luxury of choosing a brand, cut, fabric, color or pattern. 🫤 But advice on how to keep the collar in form is very helpful. 👍
Just an opinion, what matters most is the handsome/comfy-looking face and well bodybuilt that makes one looks smart, that is, it is somehow a gift from nature. The rest like how to wear apparel properly, well-formed collar, good fitting size shirt, accessories etc are subsidiary.
It’s weird what we notice but the European in me can’t imagine drying a polo in the dryer. I would only ever use it for underwear and socks and plain tee-shirts unless I was really stuck
Really great video and I have been trying to figure out how to dress up my polos that I wear every day (crew neck undershirt, guilty). I appreciate you spending some time on this to organize the information on getting stylish but still comfortable. The information on collars and styles was really helpful. I had never really considered the condition of my polo collar, taking it for granted. But after watching your video and the various examples I can see the advantage of having the sturdy collar even with a polo. Also, I know this isn't the focus of your channel, but with the proliferation of concealed carriers, the untucked polo shirt (and how to stay stylish with it) is more important than ever for some of us. Thank you.
I like collars and co for layering under sweaters, but my issue is even at 5'9 160lbs (very average) the small is a little too billowy. Also the fabric, while certainly cooling and moisture wicking, has a little too much sheen to make it difficult to pass off as a normal shirt material if wearing it by itself. In my opinion anyway. I still wear them but if those two issues were fixed I would wear them even without layering and get rid of all my others.
Thanks for the advice on undershirts and a deep V. So used to wearing a TShirt through the years to absorb sweat, and under a dress/ work shirt. Thought V's were x nay. I know its gets to warm in the summer but.......
What size are you wearing, Antonio? I bought a few polos from colors & co a few months ago in size small since that is what I normally wear, and once I got them, they were oversized. I had to return them. Not sure if I should give them another try and get an extra small. What do you think?
Love your show and truly appreciate the teaching and lessons, especially for those of us that lack in the arts area! LOL, do people still play polo out of Saratoga!
I purchased 2 Polo shirts from Collars&Co and returned them. The collars are VERY odd. The expectation was a stand collar but the collars were like blocks of wood with hard interfacing. Be forewarned. Because they were so stiff, they do not sit properly on the back of neck. I would have thought that RMRS, which focusses on "fit" would have mentioned this.
Awesome advice. I have around 8 Ralph Lauren Custom Slim Fit mesh original polo shirts and a large number are the staple colours. I also have included a few brighter colours in that mix which I wear in the summer. I usually wear them on jeans or khaki's and due to the Ralph Lauren fit being shorter at the waistline, I leave mine untucked.
Total hot take from me... I hate polos. This just from my own personal experience... polos are what I used to wear as part of my Middle School Uniform. I went to a public charter school that taught 6th-12th grades. We had a button down dress shirt option but not until we reached the High School Grades. I would always wear the button-down because being forced to wear nothing but polos in middle school makes me feel like a child. I also have to wear them for work, but that is because they have our logo and our names on them so I don't complain. The only regular polo I own is just a plain black one. Fits me like a glove, shows off my chest and athletic build, I will even say it is the best fitting shirt I own, but I only wear it to work as a spare I keep in my truck when I forget to pack a real work shirt (it's Florida so wearing layers through out the day isn't a good idea) or if I forget to sometimes wash them. I understand they're supposed to be that happy medium between casual and formal but I just can't get passed the experience of having to wear it between 11 and 14 years old. Most days my choices are button-downs, the occasional t-shirt but my Henleys remain my favorite. I'd burn my polos if I didn't need them for work.
Lacoste and Sunspel has the perfect cut for me, close but not squeezing my arms, uneven tail, 2 button, well made collar. I prefer no logos but lacoste is not that big. I would definitely not wear any undershirt or tuck it in. And definitely no long sleeve polos.
Hi. I am from Mandalika Lombok.. i have brown skin.. my tall 167 cm.. and weight 76 kg... Could you help me how to choose colour and style for trouser for work at school
Hi Antonio. Great video. I love all your videos. Thank you for all the great advise! I've got a suggestion...Can you do a review of one of Brian Sacawa's (He Spoke Style) videos?
I designed the pop collar for a men's shirt I was wearing for a Movie as Actress Jane Fonda. The pop collar was a 1987 Design and was adopted by men too for the polo shirt. Natalie Helferty Hollywood Royal Queen of Canada with God.
Living in Florida, I wear a polo almost every day. They are short and untucked, some are a little loose but the snug ones look better. I retire them when they get worn out. I'm glad to see I'm not making any of these mistakes. Thanks for the video.
New comment on an old video: I have a nice white polo from Robert Graham, but the white is a bit more see-through than is optimal; plus, living in Vegas makes layering tough for the summer. Is there an optimal barely-there undershirt option for this situation?
A knit polo shirt with a traditionally dress type collar may be comfortable, but looks like it's woven stiff & just doesn't match a knit shirt. It's in the category of Texas tuxedoes.
I don’t really care for polos because they remind me of uniforms from being a retail employee. But I have found polos I like by choosing a nice neutral color with an interesting fabric, such as linen or cashmere, or with a subtle woven pattern. Something to make it more interesting. Unless worn under a coat or sweater, I may use a basic polo for that.
I work as a hairstylist and I love black rather snug fitting polos. They’re the perfect in between of looking casual and well dressed at the same time. I can wear them to the gym and the knitting makes them warm enough to withstand air vents and breathable enough to let body heat evaporate. On my days off I like wearing dark blue instead of the black ones I need for work or I sometimes mix it up with a dark green or a burgundy red. I’m a bit of a more bulky built but dark polos really empathize your arms and give shape to your physique 👍🏼
Antonio, what collar type/style do you have on in the video? I purchased the English Spread Collar and I'm just not feeling it. Thinking I will send back for semi-spread.
Tomato/Tomato. Its actually pronounced like pi-Kay. Not like peak. I worked in the clothing industry for many years. Googling it will only lead down the wrong definition of the word which is why the confusion. However, I did appreciate the video as i do most of your stuff. Keep it up!
Do you have any advice on how to choose polo-shirts if you have a bit too much body-weight? Polo-shirts is a good casual-but-not-too-casual option, but it tend to look bad if you got more of a keg than a six-pack on your stomach.
Question for whoever knows: why do some shirts hit a point where they just are instantly stinky? I put them on, and within minutes seem to smell like they've been through 2 days of summer sports. I've had it with a polyester polo from the get-go, another synthetic t-shirt after it was pretty old, also from an older (I think?) cotton t-shirt.
No problem. If I'm wearing a polo it's either my doppelganger or someone paying me a large sum of money to wear it. I don't wear polos. Like ever. Still enjoyed the video though. 😁
Is that a 14th degree ring on your left hand? Because I rmemeber you saying you were your wedding band on your right hand because of the Ukraine tradition. It looks like mine so that's why I'm asking. great video by the way. I've been looking for advise on Polo's and looking for some good quality ones that don't have gimp collars.
I don't like bacon, may be Kevin Bacon 😀 as an actor! As a *striving gentleman,* I would love to buy quality garments including shoes, however, my budget won't let me, so I look at *thrift shops,* which at time have very great bargains, key is to shop around. Is it true, that those expensive brands are crap (some of them)?
@@RealMenRealStyle What is you opinion on _"Expensive brands"_ that make cheap clothing and shoes! Of course there are the very cheap brands, like shoes that are _glued_ _(vomit-shoes)_ around $15-25, as to say $300-500 HQ like Loake or John Lobbe?
Whatever you choose - Polos or T-Shirts - always go for the short ones (that do NOT cover the buns) with short sleeves (so that your biceps won't be covered and thus looks bigger than it is) that way you will always look fitter, buffer, more stylish and manly!
Hey! How do collars and co fit on tall men? I’m 6’5 and my best fit is XLT (extra large tall) I get the proper length then. Any advice? I want to order from them, heard good things.

The longer length on the back is for when you're on a horse, as you would be playing polo. It keeps your back covered when in the saddle.
Popped collars were a big thing when I was in middle high school. Not much after that. Ironing is a good idea. I will need to try that.

Cotton polos that are too big can also be shrunk in the dryer. I had a few I was able to do with this.

Except you won't be able to afford a cup of coffee, buying Tom Ford . : )
I always liked the polos because if you get one that fits right they make my arms look bigger and chest pop out
I wouldn't wear a polo with a suit, but it works with chinos and a sports jacket.
Ralph Lauren makes the best Polo
Is that a 14th degree ring on your left hand? Because I rmemeber you saying you were your wedding band on your right hand because of the Ukraine tradition. It looks like mine so that's why I'm asking. great video by the way. I've been looking for advise on Polo's and looking for some good quality ones that don't have gimp collars.
Impressive
popped collar = Count Dracula
Timeless classy look, definitely old money 🤪
What brand undershirt are you wearing?
Does Collar & CO ship outside of the US? I live in Norway
I think I'm related to 🥓
I like Kevin Bacon too.
Always popped collar for polos!!
Just a 2000's thing lol
I like you videos they help me dress, smell, look better :)
Does anyone know if there is a store out there that sells them? Collar and Co? I would like to try it on before I buyb
Photo with Alpha M is so wholesome
Whatever you choose - Polos or T-Shirts - always go for the short ones (that do NOT cover the buns) with short sleeves (so that your biceps won't be covered and thus looks bigger than it is) that way you will always look fitter, buffer, more stylish and manly!
Was looking to get one of the polos, is the promo code still good by any chance?
I only tuck when I'm wearing layers.
Hey! How do collars and co fit on tall men? I’m 6’5 and my best fit is XLT (extra large tall) I get the proper length then. Any advice? I want to order from them, heard good things.
