    • @SchnebsGarage

      Well, anytime you put bigger wheels you are putting more stress on the driveline. So theres no guarantee something wont break especially on a 20 yr old machine. That being said I have bigger wheels on just about every truck I've ever owned and have never broken anything. It depends more on the driver and how much abuse you expect the machine to take. @@user-bj8ly5ed9c Ultramatic is still a CVT it's just a slightly different design. Instead of using flyweights like a conventional CVT and having the belt constantly running against a spinning disc. I put a stator in there but still no spark can you help?

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Рік тому

      Firstly the stator doesn't make spark, it provides power to the bike and charges the battery. Spark is created by the ignition coil, which is activated by the CDI (Capacative Discharge Ignition), which is triggered by the pickup coil (inside with the stator that rides outside the flywheel). Now that we have that out of the way, 3 things that you should be looking at 1. pickup coil 2. CDI box and 3. Coil. Along with them are the less obvious things, the power switch on the left handlebar, the key switch, fuses and of course general wiring issues. There are good videos out there on how to check with a simple multi-meter most of these things out.
      Hope this helps.

      @@ayzeq3121 basically any of the things I listed could be causing it. I wouldnt throw parts randomly at it until you test a few things. IE ignition coils are fairly solid units that dont often fail. But CDI boxes now those fail fairly often. You can get a cheap chinese knockoff on amazon for about $20. But check out youtube university for guides on how to check those items it'll save you a lot of time, headaches and money.

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Рік тому

      I'd check the switch on the handlebar and the coil first before tearing into the stator. Also check wires, never know what mice might have gotten into. Few minutes checking basic stuff could save an hour or so of work. Technically the stator doesnt make spark, it generates power. The Magnetic pickup (also inside that case) is what sends a signal to the CDI. Good Luck!!

    • @hodgebone1
      @hodgebone1 Рік тому

      @@SchnebsGarage I know it has power to the dash lights and motor turns over with jump pack so thats a bonus! young kid tore it all apart so I kind of have a basket case! it had another cdi and voltage regulator sitting under the seat so guessing he switched those out. is there a way to bypass the killswitch?

    • @SchnebsGarage
      @SchnebsGarage  Рік тому

      @@hodgebone1 If its turning over with the button then the kill switch is working. Those wont turn over unless that switch is on and providing power to the solenoid. Considering they had spare CDI and Regulator then they most likely gave up chasing this problem. Stator could be the culprit for charging (thus the voltage regulator) but CDI would indicate bad coil, magnetic pickup (in with the stator) or bad wiring. Also check if theres a fuse under the seat in the rats nest of wires. I cant recall if the ignition has a stand alone fuse on that thing offhand.
