    Please make a video of Nakamichi DR-10 belt and pinch roller repairs. Thank You

      DR-10 is exactly the same as DR-2. Check my videos. DR-1 is very close, just a few parts more.

      How many mm is the size of the rear tension belt Nakamichi DR-10?

    Hello and congrats for the great and instructional videos!
    One question, what are you using on 4.20 for oiling the flywheels? And what kind of oil do you use again on the capstans? Thanks!

    • @hifirulezzz
      @hifirulezzz  2 роки тому

      4:20 - isopropyl to clean up residue from the old belts. I am using oil for a sewing machines to oil shafts.

    You say 124 belt when you are measuring, then you say you recommend 125 belts but 1/16th something... I can't hear what you said there. Can you tell what the two correct belt sizes are so I can order a set? Also please, any recommendations on where to order from?

    • @hifirulezzz
      @hifirulezzz  Рік тому +1

      I installed a 125 mm half-length belt. I remember some manuals recommend a 116 mm belts. Those will be too tight.

      Correct capstan belt: FSRP9.6 back-tension belt: SCY3.2

    • @byrondrake703
      @byrondrake703 Рік тому

      @genesmasher I ordered a 9.6 and 3.2. I then found (on aliexpress) a 125mm folded belt so I ordered a couple from there. Guess I will see which ones work best.

      @@byrondrake703 If you find that FSRP9.6 gives you too high w/f, try FSRP9.2 instead. It is recommended for BX-series, but I got w/f ~0.05% with that one in my DR-1.

    Why did they not use direct drive capstans in such a top of the line model like they did with the CR 5&CR7? This was Nakamichi's LAST great deck with conventional motor & belts. Pity!

    What is that thing on 52.10? How do you use that?

      This is a tape path alignment gauge with a stick.

      @@hifirulezzz a very specialized tool...it is hard for me to see what kind of magic you are doing with this tool. Is there perhaps a video from another deck that shows this better?
      I guess this has to do with that both pinch rollers should get in contact with the tape at the same time, but i am not sure.

      and.. as a poor-man solution, could i use a geo-triangle instead of this tool?

      @@tjingboem5447 it is to align height of the tape guides and heads, and to set heads tilt. Check my KA7 series, or earlier, I demonstrated in details multiple times

    They lost 2 washers for the capstan back plate.. not sure how important they are

    • @hifirulezzz
      @hifirulezzz  2 роки тому

      There was nylon washers on the capstan, but those were of black color for some reason. I do not remember if there should be more. Fixing too many decks.

      I noticed at 13:16 you started to install the two small copper washers between the flywheel holder plate (Item 79 in the service manual) and support posts. However, I cannot see any washers in that location in the service manual schematic. Fitting the washers where you have would mean flywheel holder is further back than it should be and there would be slack in the capstans (they would move in and out slightly). Unless the thrust plates (item 76) can be screwed in or out to compensate.
      On the other hand, I cannot see where else they could possibly come from, as I only dismantled the machine as much as you have.
      I would like to know for sure as I have these two washers remaining after I replaced the belts in my own DR-1 recently.

      Those small brass washers also go over the capstans, even though they seem to have larger inside diameter. Install closest to the bearing. It’s not quite clear why Nakamichi needed to use four stacked washers there - brass, black, small clear and one more black. There are no washers between the backplate and mounts.
