My Dad bought a new Camaro Z28 back in 1982 . He was one of the first in the city of Houston to get one . I can remember all of the neighbors coming over to check out the car . Your Trans Am is literally a time capsule . It’s almost as cool as KITT . I currently restoring my 2002 WS6 Trans Am . Watching your channel is giving me the itch to tackle a KITT of my own next . Keep up the great work
I used to own an '84 like this once upon a time, similar paint scheme to this one but a hard top. Man this took me back, I miss that car so much. Thank you for sharing this with us, man.
Man I cried watching this. Your car looks so beautiful and sounds like a dream. I'm working on restoring a 92 Firebird and I cant wait till mine looks and sounds as good as yours. Thank you, this has encouraged me to work more on my own. :) Addendum: Dude dont just pack it away and leave it locked up. Its a car, it wants to be driven, it wants fresh air and open roads. I'm not saying use it as your daily driver, but take it out once in a while. Give it a good fresh cruise, especially on nice days where the weather is perfect!
I love the 3rd gen Firebirds. Absolutely my favorite looking sports car. The only problem with one that is this pristine is that it would be a sin to drive and enjoy it. Great find. Congratulations.
Very nice car. I owned a 83 Trans Am in HS, it was a sharp car, but it was a SLUG esp. with the automatic. My next car was a Mustang LX 5.0, with straight pipes and a Hurst 5-speed. That was the opposite, not as pretty, but it smoked almost every other car I raced back in the day.
Absolutely my favorite car ever made. It is so crazy to see what these things must have looked like at the dealership. Man I wish I could ever get the chance to even see this in person! One day I am gonna get enough money together to restore one of these so my kid can see history.
I to had an 1982 Black/Gold Trans Am just like this, only it had a 305 V8 with a carburetor, not fuel injected. I have to say that I got it when I was 18 years old as a graduation gift, and it was the most beautiful car I had ever seen. Mine had grey cloth interior (my dad ordered it that was, he did not like black interiors and the tan interior was almost orange, so he went with grey. I dint mind, lol. The black exterior paint was absolutely by far the most flawless paint I have ever seen on a factory car. There was zero orange-peel, which you see on ALL cars made today. This car shows you just how nicely the black paint was done by GM at that time. Mine was just as slick and wet looking, really flawless. I unfortunately drove the wheels off of mine, lol. I ended up selling it (sadly) in 1998 after I married and we needed sedans not sports cars. However, I think about it all of the time. It brought me the most fun every single day that I drove it, no lie. The re-design to this body was so sexy to me I had to have it. My dad ordered such an early one that the window cranks on the doorsills had firebird inserts in them where the crank would go, my door sills were not smooth with no holes, like this one. I don't know why, it came from the factory with poor windows. I wish I had a picture. I remember being curious what the emblem was doing in such an odd place and popped one off to find a hole for a hand crank window handle! Anyway, thank you for sharing, this video brought me happy memories to watch, but also made me incredibly sad that I let mine go. Thanks for sharing, these were indeed cherry cars, and were vastly underrated.
This is going to sound " kinda " silly. Man I was so gutted when I heard you sold your KITT!! If that was mine I would be sleeping in my garage with it. It's perfect that you found a Trans Am that perfect being that it's in a sense, the "prequel" of Kitt! It's only in a couple of shots in the pilot episode but that was definitely what Micheal Long drove.. Awesome!!
thank you for sharing and congrats-this is like stepping back to 1982-even has the original rad hoses-un believeable!I wish you and the mrs. all the best-you're videos are always interesting and very enjoyable to watch!
I’m salivating. These cars are true sports cars. When I was 16 I had a brand new Iroc Z, Lucky you for having a wife that said get it instead of you making a”my wife told me she doesn’t love me today” vids. Lol Congrats, absolutely beautiful
That was a real treat! Being an eighties kid (and thanks to my childhood obsession with cars... and Knight Rider) I always had a warm spot for these '82 Trans Ams; may have even been my favourite car for a while, but then... you know... "Cannonball Run"... Lamborghini Countach! :D As a Brit, I have not seen many '82 Trans Ams in person; except for those that have undergone restoration or tidy-ups for KITT projects, the ones that I have seen are nearly always pretty ropey. - These things just don't age well. Never thought I'd see the day that I'd learn of the existence of one that's over 3 decades old and yet be as mint as this. - Well done!
The fact the plastics in the engine bay aren’t yellow amazes me. Seriously looks like a brand new trans am. But from 1982 lmao! Awesome freaking car man. Got my self a 98 ws6!
Man, I can’t watch your videos without wanting to stop what I am doing to go clean. My 83 has 19k on it and there was a bunch of oxidation. Count me as jealous.
Only once in a Lifetime! I still have a 1982 Camaro 305 4bbl with the blue original California plates April Starts with 1DNV**6. Thank you for sharing!👍👍
This is crazy! I've had 4 1982 trans ams all hard top. You found the cream of the crop my man! I just love the 82 trans am,my goal is to own a 82 t- top someday preferably a recaro.
I had this exact same year, mine was called a “Recaro Edition” with tan leather Recaro seats. My wheels did not come with the center discs but were painted gold. If you leave the discs off there was small black center caps and bolt caps that finish the look. Super cool car back then only thing cooler was maybe a Ferrari or Lamborghini.
Back in 1995, as a 17yr old, I bought an 83 TA that was very similar to this one, however not as clean as yours. The paint was identical, however the interior in mine was black and grey and it had a different shifter. Mine had the T-style shifter (idk the proper name of it) that had the button on the side. My car was slower than Christmas and the T-tops leaked, but I loved that car. I’d love to have one again. Great video, man.
My First Car at 16 years old. everything except T-Tops, and Hood Scoop. I put a posi rear ( i think 3:28 ratio) and ranchos with a 38mm sway bar. removed power steering, and a 6-inch garden divider as a front spoiler. it was tight and fast on the high way. it was not crossfire, it was a 305 fuel injection. True I was just talking to a guy he as an 82 recaro and an 84 roller he trying to sell he askin 2,000 just for the rollers though 🤷🏿 tried to talk em down but wont go lower than 1800 fir the pair and they are nowhere near in this condition 🤦🏿
I would not give 50 thousand dollars for a 1982 trans am. Don't get me wrong i love the car but it has a weak 305 Chevrolet engine in it. Maybe a 1979 with a 400 Pontiac engine and a 4 speed.
My first new car was a 1979 Firebird Formula that I ordered from the factory. It was black on red with virtually every option. Brand new, it was less than ten thousand dollars.
Yeah you have a diamond for sure, very gorgeous car. I have an 86 Firebird and just love these cars I also have a 92 Camaro 25 Anniversary But I like my Firebird better. A little tip, you probably don’t want to keep your doors open too long those interior bulbs get pretty hot and discolor the plastic lenses. Awesome car, looks like it’s in very good hands 👍
@@dereklangley8582 True, but the the 2nd gen Trans Am is more associated with the Bandit than the 3rd, especially since Reynolds didn't appear in that last installment, did he?
You managed to get a 'showroom' car there, well done. Please don't change it into KITT.....would be sacrilege to change any of it, the car is beautiful, lets leave it that way ;-)
You've got a good wife! It's identical to my 1984, except mine is 5 speed manual and carbs and no way near as clean but given it's spent it's whole life in central Canada it's in fairly amazing shape and probably cost a fraction of the amount. Only thing I would say is please stop driving with no hands on the wheel for up to 10 seconds at a time, you're also passing oncoming cars on a 2 lane road, you will never be able to keep the car straight if anything happens.
WoW! The best part is when (because I guess he's too busy being awesome or just another one of those thoughtless..I digress) he is behind the wheel looking into the camera and talking with his hands Instead of.. ya know driving? But hey man Safety 3rd is my motto and you obviously must be the best driver on the road.? Aahh u got this yo! Beautiful gem you found. Just amazing 🙏 The highest of Fives Sir.
Thank you for sharing this video of your beautiful 82 Trans Am. That car looks amazing. It's in pristine museum condition. Not many are in such original condition. Heck it still has its factory radiator hose clamps. It's magnificent. Oh and by the way you said that the Trans Am's had the gold bird in 1982 and the Firebird's had a silver one. I want to correct you on that one. The only cars with the gold bird were the black & gold cars such as the Trans Am, Recaro Trans Am and the Firebird S/E in gold color. The other cars all had a silver bird on the center of the tail light.
My dad had a T/A just like this one many years before I was born, except his had T-Tops. He traded the car in '89 on a Mustang (that I now own), but we still have the bowling ball hubcaps!
I dated a girl back in 1982 who received a red Trans Am for her 16th birthday. Hers had the carb instead of the fuel injection. The wheel covers were the silver ones which turns out are very rare. Otherwise, it looks the same as yours. Fun car back in the day.
Wow. This car was a big deal in high school. Quite a new aesthetic. Years before Back To The Future, DeLorean like styling at the same time. This was as futuristic as things got in the suburbs. Amazing. What a treat to see.
OMG dude that car is fkn perfect! How did you find it. Its amazing some people buy a car and never drive it. Great purchase, no matter what you paid for it, it was worth it.You gotta enjoy it though man. Take it out of the cocoon once in awhile, and pull it out on the driveway, then bring a few buddies over, sit back in the lawn chairs with some cold brews and admire your great buy, you'll be the talk of the town.
David Hasselhoff would be very proud but the fact is he couldn't afford this car being bankrupt now however, your car does bring back a lot of fond memories for when these cars were brand new and I remember those days
For me personally one of the most beautiful cars that were built. I remember it so well, at first when I was a kid I saw the movie (Smokey and the Bandit), with the 1977 Trans Am Firebird, I like that car as well. Some time later the series Knight Rider came on TV and when I saw this car I almost flipped out. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible for us in Germany to own such a car. The gasoline price is so high in our country and unfortunately everything has become so expensive. Also this model here in absolute original condition is really, very nice. A car is always as beautiful as its owner. This car was taken care of really well as you can see. I wish it was my car :-)
Wow what an amazing one of a kind finds. If Pontiac Motor Division was still in business I bet they'd buy this car back for their collection like Chevrolet have for their Corvettes. If I win the lottery I'll make you a rich man buying that from you and ship it to the UK ;)
Who was the dude who invented the time machine he used to go back to 1982 and buy this thing off the lot and brought it back with him to 2018? Cause I swear, that is what it looks like has happened here. I've never seen a car this old look so brand new original before. Amazing.
Jose DeJesus I've seen professionally restored. And the problem is original factory and professionally restored are two different types of perfection and for some reason you can tell apart and this car here is not Professionally restored.
I have an 82 firebird, I also have the original hub caps and all the other things that came with the car, it needs a bit of fixing though and my grandpa bought it brand new
first time ever seeing something so old in such absolutely amazing original condition...you have a Gem for sure...but would you mind doing a video on the car bubble and how it works etc..??...btw...you now have a new sub, originally came here for Kitt....
Nice find, I would keep like it like how you found it. Not a Trans Am but I have you beat on mileage with a 50 year old car, 811 original miles. Thanks for sharing, peace out.
I've owned the car since day one, I worked for Oldsmobile (retired now) and actually followed the car while it was being built....that was a long night. It's a 1969 Cutlass S ( bought it in September of 68), bucket seats, 350/310HP, 3:91 posi, GoodYear Redline Tires, 4 speed close ratio transmission with factory installed Hurst Shifter.....non air car. Oh, that's correct on the mileage.

Hi Chris, I'm 45 and knight rider was my favourite show back in the 80's, and I love it kitty, but now at my age I prefer that 7k trans-am no mods, I also liked the video dude.
Wow - I remember seeing this exact car in a post on Thirdgen.org and thinking "how can a guy get that lucky!?" I was one of the ones who stuck around for the whole story. :) I'm looking for an '82 right now, having decided to purchase a good one rather than try and restore a car. If you are ever interested in selling, I'd be a buyer!
One of my favorite cars of all time. Its phenomenal to see one in such pristine condition.

Take it out of the cocoon once in awhile, and pull it out on the driveway, then bring a few buddies over, sit back in the lawn chairs with some cold brews and admire your great buy, you'll be the talk of the town.
HAHA Sounds like a great idea!!! KItt sorta steals the show though lol
Unreal how original this Trans Am is Chris showroom fresh looking
David Hasselhoff would be very proud but the fact is he couldn't afford this car being bankrupt now however, your car does bring back a lot of fond memories for when these cars were brand new and I remember those days
Good Woman made securing this jewel possible. Congrats.
She's pretty great!
Simply AWESOME! You're 1 lucky guy!
Thanks for watching!!! Blessed big time!
I’ve been drooling over these cars since I was 10. Still don’t have one at 47
For me personally one of the most beautiful cars that were built.
I agree! Still my favorite body style for car to date
I’m glad you’re going to drive it, instead of leaving in in the garage.
This is a museum piece!
Wow. I had a 82 black and gold that was like yours but $650 like yours, haha. Sweet find.
beautiful
This is incredible
Very Pretty. I understand the fear to mess it up. I guess it will remain a show car. Will probably be worth a mint in ten years.
That’s my hope haha... thanks for watching!
Amazing.
Haha thanks for watching... I said the same thing when I found it 😂
Profesionally restored dude
Jose DeJesus haha professionally restored at 7k miles lol
Jose DeJesus
I've seen professionally restored. And the problem is original factory and professionally restored are two different types of perfection and for some reason you can tell apart and this car here is not Professionally restored.
Great find love it especially black and gold good luck so sweet I have a 73 TA with 32k original miles
Wow I would love this car it's so beautiful
I have an 82 firebird, I also have the original hub caps and all the other things that came with the car, it needs a bit of fixing though and my grandpa bought it brand new
verry cool, do you still have it ?
Fantastic! It looks like new!
first time ever seeing something so old in such absolutely amazing original condition...you have a Gem for sure...but would you mind doing a video on the car bubble and how it works etc..??...btw...you now have a new sub, originally came here for Kitt....
Love the car
Nice find, I would keep like it like how you found it. Not a Trans Am but I have you beat on mileage with a 50 year old car, 811 original miles. Thanks for sharing, peace out.
Wow 811??? That’s awesome! I love low mile cars!
Omg that’s amazing to also be the original owner ... wow
@@nolaw4740 it's a shame you are just letting it sit...it's ment too be driving around having fun with it...I don't get just looking at it...take it out rip some tyers before your shit head grand kids get it and sell straight away after you die..lol...
@@twincammike8329 donate it to the museum or get the guy who reviews '70 Chevelles to make a video of your car.
Hi Chris, I'm 45 and knight rider was my favourite show back in the 80's, and I love it kitty, but now at my age I prefer that 7k trans-am no mods, I also liked the video dude.
BEAUTIFUL!!! Just curious about something you said, though. Why did you state you wished the vehicle did *not* have "Rusty Jones" applied?
Wow, beautiful car. Perfect condition
It's in better shape then the original KITT lol congratulations man
What's with the orange RTV under the front of the intake??
So, no chance of selling it? Anyway, how much would it be worth if sold, approx. ,?
Wow - I remember seeing this exact car in a post on Thirdgen.org and thinking "how can a guy get that lucky!?" I was one of the ones who stuck around for the whole story. :) I'm looking for an '82 right now, having decided to purchase a good one rather than try and restore a car. If you are ever interested in selling, I'd be a buyer!
Hahaha Thanks for listening to me 😂😂😂
Do weather tech or other types of floor mats exist for it? Or are wash cloths the only option?
Love your Pontiac Trans am Chris, its absolutely beautiful, do you still have it?
It's exactly like Michael Long's from the Knight Rider pilot.
