IIRC the story of this DLC is before the events of DL2 and just more than a decade after DL1, There's no way Aidan is going to be here.

Aiden being "The Beast" instead of Kyle Crane would be the biggest UNO reverse ever.
I dont think so, as far as I know, Dying Light: The Beast is a prequal to Dying Light 2 Stay Human. So Aiden probably hasnt even been bitten durin then. But am not really sure.

I have the strong feeling they've just flipped the roles for the sake of fanservice.

When Dying Light came out it was, and still is, my favourite zombie game. It does suck but having youtubers like aussiegg keeping alive for people like me is probs the best of the outcome

the beast sounds in the trailer even sound a bit like aiden's when he transforms into dl2 and with that waltz vibe. Besides, the trailer shows the beast and its posture resembles a human. so who knows, maybe it's actually aiden.
I just want it to feel more like DL1 than DL2, which is definitely wishful thinking, but I am really hoping that the map is more believable, and actually handcrafted, like Harran. Obviously it's just an asset flip, but I'm expecting that Techland has learned from their failures in Dying Light 2, and will readjust certain aspects of The Beast accordingly.
My main wish for this game, above all else, is for it to be good lol. I'm expecting a roughly 8 hour story with a focus on horror and bringing in good elements from both games. I hope the map is a good size too, if the game does all that I'll be happy. Fingers crossed 🤞

Aussie's theory is pretty much right. If you pause the trailer at 1:02 and use the dot "." And comma "," keys to go frame by frame, you can see the beast jumping over the soldiers, and the look of the clothes seems the same of the standard pilgrim outfit that Aiden uses in the beginning of DL2.
I have mix feelings about Being standalone but Kyle Crane coming back is selling point

Dying Light 2 feels more like a DL 2 1/2
And The Beast feels like Dying Light 3

Of course everyone is thinking at something similar to Following, but the only thing linked is Kyle, that doesn't mean it's gonna be bad, all I'm saying is don't have any high expectations and you won't be disappointed....

Dying Light: The Beast is the game we all deserve in whatever form it takes. We were all left wondering what really happened to Kyle Crane? At the very end of The Following game, we saw that Crane became Volatile and that is it and I never believed deep down that it would stay that way. And that was also a silent sign that we had to find out his fate after that. This new game is actually a result of that. Through the game, we will learn from Crane what he has been through all the years up to the time of the Dying Light 2 story.
That is exactly what I was thinking about Aiden being the Beast and antagonist. Would be a nice send off to his character. I think we're on the right path about that.

In light of this, I started replaying Dying Light Night Runner

Techland could essentially make a list of the stuff that made Dying Light 1 and Dying light 2 enjoyable, mix them together, and leave out the stuff that made those two games un-enjoyable, to make a decent game

I can’t help but feel like they failed with Dying Light 2 and are now wiping their hands with the whole game, they’ll still make events, bundles and update the cutscenes but I think they’re done.
I strongly agree with the feeling Aiden is the beast and his infection has gotten the best of him, they’ll probably write off Lawan and Hakon by saying Aiden isolated himself to protect them. Even though he was kinda underbaked I still liked Aiden and his dynamic parkour lines and personality, I hope he gets a happy ending.
So looking forward to this.

If techland brought back the mechanics from dl1 to dl2 then dl2 would work better.
For instance:
Grenades blow up and does blast the zombies in dl1 which in dl2 they just take small damage and no dismemberment

I'm thinking either Aiden is the beast, or the beast is someone entirely different and both Kyle and Aiden fight alongside each other to beat him. I lean more towards the latter. I like to think with how experienced Crane is with being infected after how much time has passed, he could show Aiden how to deal with the guilt behind it. Because as you already know, Aiden has killed Veronika when he turned for a bit, Crane likely has done something similar after the end of The Following. It could be sort of a redemption story for Aiden. Beating the very evil that the antagonist would allow to consume him when he turns. About committing to what is right, staying selfless even after they've done something awful. It was out of their control and their intentions are pure. They either need to find a way to control themselves (could be an opportunity to be able to use beast mode whenever the player wants) or accept that they need to distance themselves from society to keep people safe. I think storywise, it would really add more to Aiden's character. If Crane is regarded as a hero, then so should Aiden if he chose to save Villedor before leaving (which I mostly believe to be the canon ending).
Also... some of my thoughts totally may not have been based on some leaks I saw like a month or so ago back when the story was supposed to be DLC. lol But it's definitely different now, and imo, it's pretty cool. I'm very hyped for this game.

Roger's and Jonah's voices can sound so close that I didn't even notice lol. It took seeing his face for me to realise.
also thank goodness aiden is presumably an antagonist. My biggest wish for dlc 2 initially was that crane would have been a mysterious mr x type beat hunting aiden randomly or just being a villain but now that cranes the protagonist i can see aiden turning into a sort of sentient volatile himself and the roles reversing

I still feel betrayed i was promised a follow-up for Aidens story and the leaks for dying light the new frontier looked great but instead we get this, hopefully the beast game is good
Techland have confirmed that Aiden's story will continue. They also said that this will link the two games. They're not really doing a good job of hiding what's going to happen.
