Oh hey, it's my team! Thanks for uploading these games, it was so much fun to play vs Malaysia - they stomped us so hard in the groups so it's nice to have this series where we actually felt a whole lot more confident. Star and aurora are amazing players and I am really hoping to learn from aurora mid, I've switched roles so it was a hard tournament but so proud of my team.
So great you uploaded this though, it gives us the exposure and stuff for promoting women in Esports more.

For anyone wondering, this is from the commonwealth games. Its a traditional sport event kinda like a small scale olympics between the commonwealth nations. This year they had Esports as a showcase event and opened up the possibility of it becoming a permanent sports. The games played where Dota 2, eFootball and Rocket League.
This is likley why we have both national teams and a male/female tournament. Basically they have set it up to be more similar to something you'd see in the olympics, or a litteral world cup.
They have the men's tournament and the mentally challenged tournament, gotcha.

The organizers went the extra mile for this, great setup at the venue and a pretty damn good caster. Looking forward for more women Dota 2 matches in the future.

Nothing stops women from competing in Dota other than themselves. Having women / men league is 100% stupid and it shouldn't be promoted. That gives the impression that men are better in Dota which I dont think is true. You can easily have a dota team with men and women competing against another team with men/women.

I have to say, even before watching the clip, i know that malaysia will win. these ladies are born and bred in the SEA server. They've fought with 5-core teams. If you want to prove you're good, try and play in the SEA server.

The WNBA is trash because women suck at basketball because of their physical limitations (and because they refused to play on lower baskets 🙄).
In e Sports, physical differences don’t matter.
The problem is more that the level of competition is rather low, because there aren’t as many female players.
Which will result in low viewer counts, which will result in not much money being made due to lower advertising income.
I think the problem is partly that the Dota playerbase is overwhelmingly male. Only a tiny portion of these players get anywhere close to playing on even low tier teams. It requires not just skill but stuff like contacts aswell.
I know Sheepsticked, one of the analysts at the Arlington Major, wanted to go pro. She managed to get up to over 7k mmr but it was hard to find the next step to take. In the end she decided to focus her effort on becoming a talent instead

A second problem arises from the pro team structures as of now. They all stay together and many are teenagers. It's a bit difficult to maintain professionalism once sex/relationships get into the scene (can happen with homosexuals as well, but the chances are lower). This is why almost no pro team will even prospect good women players right now.

Valve should make A Woman Division For DPC To Promote woman to play professionally but also don't lock them in, they can join the main division too if they are good enough. The woman division should be looked as a more accessible and safe space for female to join and experience competitive play. Then when they are competitive and ready to join the main division they will hence fostering a more healthy and welcoming scene for female players. And hey if they can grow woman scene big enough that it itself becomes a big thing in the scene then who's opposing it, would be an awesome thing ofc.
This is how chess does it at least. The female exclusive scene is seen as a development and welcoming league for females to grow and be comfortable with pro scene until they are ready to join the main division.

I didnt know there was a woman esport dota 2 tournament, but since today Im going to participe and try to found out the games on real time, I really like this kind of games.
I always thought that the beautiful thing about dota is that anyone regardless of gender or whatever could play together...if you split it into all male/female championships you're just going to damage the whole idea of it, that anyone can play hard and qualify and win TI
Any sports can be played by any gender, the skill "mostly" depends tho
You forgot that there is still the stereotype that male plays better than female out there. It's hard to make a mixed tournament because there will always be people that makes fun of it and it will be a neverending toxic environment. This is still a step towards it to prove that even female can participate in high level competitive play.
I am a supporter of focus and practice regardless of background...if you work hard enough and practice you will be able to achieve professional levels, especially in esports, where there is no body advantage

So it's not that surprising to see some women play almost as good as the best of men. It is all the more expected in top level tourneys (this didn't have the Russians, Chinese, or East Europeans, though).

"E-Sport" Does not have any Male and Female category tournaments!
You don't have to be a dude to participate in regular Dota 2 tournament like TI.
Yes, if you see a girl playing with Amar, and Ceb Or in general OG or in any other team, don't be surprised because there is no such rule that your team can't not have girls and boys!

women can definitely get as good as the guys in esports but they don't have the drive men have.
It’s pretty standard for sports where one gender is heavily overrepresented in the pro scene to have a seperate tournament for the underrepresented gender (usually women), even if the sport itself gives no inherent advantage based on secondary sexual characteristics. That’s why there are women’s tournaments in stuff like shooting and chess as well, even though they have no inherent biological disadvantage in the sport. In a lot of horse related sports both men and women are well represented and therefore they have no separate men’s or women’s tournaments, to my knowledge.
It’s to provide chances and exposures for females in the game, you’d be surprised not many girls would talk in your solo MMR (not herald games btw) cause of the prejudice they would face just because they are a girl. There a lot of barriers female players face in game, and even outside the game. I’m not saying that there should be a female/male tournament, but this is just a good start, a small step
