Changing orientation is definitely the right move here. There are also ways to make supports easier to remove. I don't know if you can do this in Prusa Slicer, but in Cura you can adjust the extrusion rate for supports. I set mine to 40%. It makes the supports super thin and brittle. They're strong enough to support, but super easy to remove. I used to do this only on prints that were fragile and may break during support removal, but now I use it in all my prints as it saves material, and has yet to cause a failure.
The tweaks toward the end to the support settings in slicer help quite a bit in their removal. Saving material where you can is always a huge benefit!
