Quick note about the Jitte. It's a Japanese word. Written 十手 and meaning "ten hand" It's short truncheon with a hook made of metal or wood (used by policemen and private thief-takers in Edo Japan). The name is a reference for the cross shape. Yes, I don't really see it either. The pronunciation is a short "ji" (like in *ge*nie) followed by a short pause and then "te" (like in *te*n). Hope this helps and good luck with the game.
"Icy pufferfish is the worst one!" The wild thing is that the dev actually said in the Q&A that he thought freeze was fine in the game. Dont get me wrong, he was very insightful and said so many things I agreed with, but the man completely undersold how much impact freeze has IMO. Any mechanic without a counter is going to tarnish what otherwise feels like a very fair game most of the time and freeze is the only uncounterable mechanic in the game currently (other than maybe that new corrosive poison skill). Also, Basilisk Fangs did quite a bit IMO. The extra life bought you time for your DOT's, lowered shields for your fire to tick, lowered shields for those builds that attack you with shields, opened the opportunity to pick up skills based off of using one weapon or crits. I think it was a great one off for this build.
There's several ways to deal with freeze in fact, dooley has I think at least 3 items that defrost your items, there's one of those that is junk as well I think? There's also rapid thaw from joyful jack, but yes it does feel quite problematic in some instances-- really only on a few distinct scenarios though and a lot of them were actually reigned back on with the most recent patch. Icy pufferfish is super strong, but how often are you going to get it? I think I've only gotten the icy enchantment once since I started the game, and then you also need to have a decent puffer build already as well.
@_korbo_ Wait, bud, yes there are some items that help with freeze, but those are very few and do nearly nothing but reduce the effectiveness of freeze on you and are pure chance if you are even given the option to run them. Joyful jack skill is by far the strongest and is why I nearly always choose to fight him, but that does little against freezes with long durations like the couple freeze skills that are very popular at the moment. Then there is a medium-sized Dooley scarf, a medium-sized very slow monster weapon, and a medium-sized junk item that just gives you a little shield when your items get frozen. There is also the radiant enchant, but that is a pure slot machine if you get that. I appreciate the thinking boss, but I could have all those things on board and still lose to freeze lol. Currently, the time to kill in fights is quite quick and since those items don't really fit into any build, they are likely going to cause you to lose even if you can find a way to make them work a little vs running something far better and faster. If there was an item for each character than was even average and helped with freeze, then that would be the counter play pick like you suggested, but there isn't, and the few that exist are bad and mostly random drops. According to the peeps in Discord I talked to about this who thought freeze was great, their thinking is that freeze is a jackpot. A random reward for playing the game, and if that is the only upside, then that is odd that it exists. The dev has said he specifically doesn't want slot machine gameplay many times.
Yay, I'm so happy that came together. Very cool run and it felt like it legitimately could have gone all the way. More importantly it was a fun build with a bit of spice to it.
44:40 actually one more thing about this choice, joyful jack not only has a lot of poison related synergy, he has the skill "rapid thaw" which makes your board SO SO much more resilient against freeze. Definitely something to keep in mind, even though it's a rare drop-- the way I think about it is "With this, I basically autowin against freeze boards". The more single focused counters you can have on your skills the more you can tunnel vision on what to upgrade on your board. There's some other skill that gives you regen when burned which also basically means autowin against burn, those kind of things to me are invaluable assuming your current board state is stable.
Really cool run, and neat to see the way you're able to come up with a concept and build around it. It's super interesting how these little numbers actually add together and are amplified by each other, and how you can SEE that whereas I still can't, that's really cool.
Shouldnt you play the item that says any crit you have is bonus damage? Shouldnt you use that on basilisk fang in a poison build? So it got lifesteal 100% crit and trillions of dmg. Would be got if you poison often for low numbers

Cant wait til he's back and sees how the patches completely upended the game...
Knowing this man, it'll be a blast
Yeah the lich is like the boarior, a monster that feels like it should come on a later day

My trusty giant mosquito proboscis. It's always brought me good luck, and look how cute it is!

This was a great run. An awesome comeback after the last few

Liking this series. Thanks.

That scrap gave me a migraine 😂
Captions say you introduced yourself as “Raman”

I did specifically mention multiple times that I was looking for that item, but never found it.
