I have these on my 66 Fairlane, 351W BEST SOUND EVER... sounds good under throttle, but quiet when your cruising so no annoying drone on the freeway like a Flowmaster... LOVE Aero Chamber~!
The undesirable drone is likely from the turndown and not having a tailpipe. The exhaust resonates under the vehicle. Dumped exhaust can allows for exhaust fumes to enter the passenger compartment which is also undersirable.
Nice!!!! I just swapped some work for two brand new of these mufflers. I repaired/replaced a broken garage door spring set. And owner said if I’d be interested in these same mufflers still in the box! I said yes! So he gave them to me plus $100!!!!
I’ve finished my year long WJ build with a lot of help from your videos. I have a totally rebuilt 2006 HO engine with 2009 intake, cams and the tri-Y headers. I’m running a rockauto special 2.5” dynomax catback with a cat setup like yours to pass smog, which it did. Literally, this month I’m shopping for exhaust parts to get rid of the restriction before I begin tuning with the HPTUNERS. I’m gunna go ahead and just steal your video ideas and carbon copy them to mine. Might cut the y-collector and run 3.5” out. Thank you as always!
I had those and hooker headers on my .40 over 350 with 305 H.O. heads of an IROC and it sounded great, purred similar to a mustang, was definitely different.
Thank you. I think i finally found the mufflers to replace the jones max flow 2.5 dual in dual out muff i have in my truck. I call it the clapper.. it's horrible sounding.
Good video! I like those pipe clamps also. They work great. I just mig weld using stainless wire. Your welds looked good. Right now I'm running Magnaflows on my 454 Chevelle. They sound insane at WOT but like you said, I have that very annoying drone at around 2000 rpm. I may try these Hooker mufflers. I did notice your modified Flowmaster sounded a little deeper than the Hooker.
I’ve been running a single 2.5” Spintech 6000 on my 4.7 Dakota for over a year. Side exit passenger side before the rear tire. ZERO drone at highway speed just some at low RPM more noticeable at lower speed cruising city limits at 35mph. Has all performance muffler pros with none of the cons. Full 304 stainless, mandrel bent. Original from the muffler forward. Everyone said get Flowmaster or Borla but I wasn’t going to spend the money to sound like everyone else.

I second the great welding you do. I've welded for decades, started off out of tech school in a Midas muffler shop, and I can't do any much better than yours are. That TIG would be nice for replacing body panels, laying down a nicer bead that is easier to come behind and smooth during the prep refinishing process. I like the Hooker sound and the down turn to the side. On my 2000 Durango 4X4 4.7, I have a Super Turbo muffler from Dynomax. I removed the resonator and the sound quality is great, as you said, similar to a Scat Pack Challenger at idle. Drone is minimal in my BIg D, and my downturn dump is like yours, just shy of the axle. Truck ran immediately better, then either with no muffler and resonator, as well as the previous Cat-Back Flowmaster system that rotted away in 2014 after a decade in the rust belt. I'm happy to report, the Super Turbo is either stainless or Aluminized, but non the less as ZERO corrosion after 6+ years here in the rust belt, and sounds F-ing A awesome, at idle and going down the road with great power increases over both the Flowmaster and stock restrictive systems, as well as running a straight dump off the cat pipe, which without sufficient backpressure made the truck run like a pig. On my new 02 WJ 4.7 Limited, I'm going to try your Hooker Aero Chamber out. I can make a full tailpipe work, as I said, I started off in a muffler shop, and can still take straight pipe, bend it by eye and fabricate an entire exhaust from manifolds back and have many times. What I'm looking at currently, and have yet to see is a WJ 4.7 with dual mufflers and pipes after the cat, or at least a dual dump muffler with twin exits on each side of the fuel tank with a slight downturn. I'm getting a new welder soon, after mine was stolen 8 years ago, finally, so I'm looking forward to some long overdue exhaust and body panel replacement. My Big D needs a hatch (bolt-on) and the drivers rocker panel replaced. I have it prepped, back to the pinch welds with the outer metal removed, I just need the welder so I can finish up and get it painted. You are lucky out in the Desert, here in Pa, it's hard to keep vehicles and exhaust systems from rusting and I am very anal about taking care of my vehicles.
Thank you, I still think my TIG welding needs some work. I learned that I have the post gas time to short and I need to keep the torch over the work piece until the gas stops flowing. Dual exhaust is hard to do on the JGC with the transfer case and on the later models the EVAP is mounted in the rear left where the tail pipe would go. I lived in Iowa and know about rust. Never owned a car that didn't have any until I move to southern Nevada.

Very nice work - the sound is really great. Speaking of sound - do you know where I can find the music that you played (Brian Riba)? I looked all over and can't find it, but it is just as cool as the Aero Chambers!
Man that sounds damn good. I've got the same engine and have a total flow chambered muffler installed on my truck plus with manual transmission it sounds awesome.
I can attest to the sound and performance of Aerochambers. I've installed them many times and wanted to put one on my truck, but they don't make that particular one anymore. Decided to give Borla ProXS a shot. Very deep and mellow sounding, even with LT's and no cats, no drone. And like all Borla stuff, T304 SS all the way. The Aerochamber is by far the best chambered muffler I've ever used before. It's a shame they're not as well known as the others. I have video of them installed on my old 1986 Cutlass with Olds 350, LT's, no cats, x-pipe and Aerochambers dumped.
I applaud your willingness to learn new things. Welds look pretty impressive for a novice. Lord knows, much better than I could have done. Great job. In your opinion, are Doug Thorleys a “seat of the pants feel” mod? I’d like to give em a chance
Love the sound of the Hooker AeroChamber, I’m looking to do a similar install on my WJ 4.7. A couple questions though. 1) If I want the exhaust to exit out the back using the existing tail pipe, should I just get a 2.5 inch Center inlet and Center outlet Hooker aerochamber? They don’t seem to make one with an offset outlet. 2) What is the interior noise like when cruising around at highway speeds and around town? Can you still have conversations and is there any drone? Appreciate you taking the time and making a video about the muffler.
I would go with the 2 1/2 center in and center out. If you do a full length exhaust all the way out the back the drone is very very minimal and you can easily have a conversation while cruising.
@@martinbuilt Thanks for the help Martin. I’m excited to try this muffler on the WJ, it will be nice to have it finally sound like a V8 but not be overwhelmingly loud and annoying like the flow master exhausts.
@@martinbuilt Well, I ended up getting it installed and there is a huge amount of drone from it.
