      Do you have a recorded trail of your hike on an app like All trails? Would be super helpful for navigating some of these hidden hikes!

    I just hiked there 8/23/2021 thanks to your help! I am 65 and was by myself and I did not make it up as far as you did. I did several hikes in the area and my favorite is Hell Roaring Lake. Kudos to Jon Conti, author Scott Marchant, and the Alltrails app.

    Your videos are so inspiring! I love to get out to explore and I like to find UA-cam videos of people who have been there to provide some current info about the areas before I go. I have not found another channel that compares to the quality of production of your videos! The color, the sound, the drone footage..... it's a feast for thirsty senses! Thank you for sharing!

      The main trail is ya. That trail takes you all the way to Sawtooth Lake so it’s a busy one.

    I did this hike a couple weeks ago but I went all the up Bridal Veil Falls on the North side (opposite to where you went) to Lower Hanson Lake. Probably the hardest bit of hiking I've done because it's incredibly easy to lose the trail and it's all loose rock and dirt. Worth it for the fish, views, and wild fruits though.

    • @JonConti
      @JonConti  4 роки тому

      Isaac F. Is Lower Hanson the lakes above Bridalveil you see in the video? I wouldn’t have seen them without the drone. It was late in the day and I didn’t have any info on them but I want to go back and get to them.

    • @iflanzy
      @iflanzy 4 роки тому +2

      @@JonConti That's the one! Lower Hanson is, of course, the lowest and first one you get to. Above that is about a 200 foot climb to get to get to Middle Hanson. Both are loaded with Cutthroat and native rainbow and you'll get one on nearly every cast if you're planning on fishing. Didn't make it to the 3rd Hanson lake above those, though.
      This is where I crossed - goo.gl/maps/CcHZcEnjtECEYEzY8- and once you get to the other side, there's a fairly obvious trail to follow to get to the base of the falls. Then it's just luck to follow it the entire way.

      That's awesome thanks for the info! One more question, do you have a good recommend on a fishing pole? This is what I was looking at, but it still seems like a lot to carry backpacking.

      @@JonConti I'm not too versed in collapsible rods but the few minutes of google searching shows that should work if you go for the one just under 6ft. You don't need much for those alpine trout. For my trips, I just use my ultra lite 2-piece rod that is the Bass Pro (Cabela's) brand and a Pflueger President reel to go with it. Lightweight but it's only 2 pieces so it's not the best option to put in a backpack.
      Another option you could look into is Tenkara. It's a fun, ultralight weight traditional form of fly fishing. I do both but I still prefer the collapsible rod option and toss some spinners at the trout.

      @@JonConti My friend just bought this one today. I think they've sponsored other UA-camrs so you might even be able to snag a free one and show it off ;) www.amazon.com/High-Altitude-Lightweight-Backpacking-Collapsible/dp/B07J16DZLK

    Did you need to get a permit for the drone shots?

    • @JonConti
      @JonConti  4 роки тому +1

      Cozette Koenig nope, this area is part of the Sawtooth National Forest and you can fly drones in it, ride dirt bikes, etc.. There was a drone race going on back there while we were there.
