  • Learn from Olympic Peninsula Skagit Tactics guide Trevor Covich how to tie a relatively simple yet highly effective steelhead fly. If you tie and fish a lot and want a fly that looks great, catches a lot of fish and doesn't take you forever to tie, you would be well served to learn the techniques presented in this video. With a single post of Arctic fox and ostrich and flash spun in a dubbing loop, this fly has tremendous motion in the water but can be cranked out quickly enough to till up your box. Check out opskagit.com for some of the materials and tools used in this video.

Great video! Do you have any recommendations for substitutes for the EP Anadromous Brush? Could you just use a mixture of dubbing and artic fox tail in a dubbing loop? Or will that be too stiff? Or would you use something like rabbit (without the hide)?

      Hi Travis,
Trevor tried to comment but couldn't for some reason. He said just to use rabbit. I'm glad you liked the video. We will definitely be posting more.
      Thanks,
      Ben Paull

Nice fly. Just curious why you didn't make a composite dubbing loop at the end instead of using the pre-made brush?

+jON C This was kind of before we (Trevor and Ben) had really gotten good at the composite loop.
