Trevor Covich is a guide on Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula. His standard steelhead pattern-what he simply calls a “Guide Fly”-offers a great profile, lots of movement, and a bright “eggish” looking ball that is readily visible to a fish holding downstream. That egg serves two purposes-it’s a beacon in a variety of water conditions and it acts as a base for the shoulder of the fly. He ties this fly in many color combinations and sizes. Big and gaudy for discolored and high water. Subtler and smaller for low and clear water. Play around with this pattern and you’re sure to get results. Oh nice fly Trevor 👌
    I'm from Sweden 🇸🇪
And we don't see those flys in our shop here. I did live in USA for time and my biggest steelhead 23lbs I got in full sunshine and on silver white/pink whit gold flash. Oh boy that fish did hit hard because of clear water big profile fly and at that time I'm did use a 12,6' 8# rod and a home made skagit 400gr and ledcore leader 10' nice memories. I will try out those back in Sweden for sea trout and salmon see how they works ! My home river is brown by natural colour so white orange red goes best. But purple and black goes well in mornings and evenings as sun start go low. And dark colours need to be fish higher so fish see fly from underside that's my experience and I'm fly fish for 40 year now. Did enjoy how simple you tie up your fly but as effective as more hard working flys. Thanks and best regards Bjorn from Sweden 🇸🇪👌

The camera is too far away from the fly to show any detail.
