This is peak drone. This is what I look for in drone music - a steady, clear, continuous, unadulterated current of deep, smooth soundwaves. There is no wandering from chord to chord to create variety, there are no insertions of things like birdsongs or waves to make it more "atmospheric", no occasional piercing highs, nothing that would disturb the harmony. In many artists there's a desire to make the sound more rich, to add more things to fill the empty space, a desire that's very hard to escape. And Klaus Wiese here has totally triumphed over that desire, letting the empty space do its job. It is a very rare accomplishment. I've been a fan of drone music for about a decade, and I only know a few releases (just tracks, even) with more or less same degree of sonic integrity (e.g., Cigarette Burn by Lawrence English, LINELEH by Eleh and Richard Chartier, works of JLIAT). I first heard Neptun by Klaus Wiese in 2015, and I've been regularly coming back to it ever since, it just doesn't get old. Strangely, I hadn't been aware of Space and Uranus by Wiese, and I'm extremely grateful to your channel for posting them and giving me a few more gems to add to my collection of timeless drone.
So well put, I feel exactly the same. The serenity of the uninterrupted tones is just so unbelievably comforting, I could listen for millennia. Thank you Klaus 🖤➰️
Mathias Grassow - who is Wiese's pupil, might be a good source of long-form deep listening spiritual drone if you're looking for more. his discography is huge, so i'd recommend start with albums like Himalaya, Tara, Harmonia Mundi, Elixir, Morpheus... also i highly recommend checking out Oophoi - Bardo (1999) which is based on Klaus' bowls and their other collaborations made in the 90s. another great example of deep droning can be found in the discography of Klaus' best friend Al Gromer Khan - he's usually decorating them with some sitar melodies but got some pure droning and singing bowls albums as well. that is so-called "Munich school" of New Age music which thrived in 80s-90s.
I really appreciate the effort that you put into adding the background stock video loops into each video, it adds a very special depth to the audio visual experience
Perhaps the purest and most distilled essence of Klaus' soul. Phenomenal record. As always, thanks so much for sharing. Best music channel on UA-cam! ❤
