The Sinking Of The Gaul - Sea Disaster or Spy Drama?

The Gaul was a British trawler that sank under mysterious circumstances on the 8th-9th February 1974. Persistent rumours have suggested that something more sinister than a simple maritime tragedy occurred.

I had never heard of the Gaul before (not surprising), but regardless of the real reason for sinking, the mystery of what happened in that storm, the events of the ship and the crew, remain.

I usually go for rational explanations in most things, but we now know that espionage was going on in the area at the time. So it's possible that it was something other than a sea disaster.

@@HistoryRemembered ---- Yes. I may have mis-phrased saying that even if it were only an "unassisted" disaster, it is still a mystery. You video highlights that. P.S. Don't go overboard on rational explanations, there are too many completely irrational things going on these days.

The Gaul has been found and dived on. It was discovered that the Gaul sank due to flooding due to watertight doors not being closed.

a family friend was lost on the boat,before that he was a diplomat based at the british embassy to aden,what was a diplomat doing on it,if not a spy?.
