Yeah. Nice review, running same screen satnav mount. BMW must have been on dope to run with the bar mount! Also 6' 5'' here and hate the standard screen, absolute CR1P! Tall Givi with MRA flip top and it's absolute magic. No buffeting, and all the recent heavy rain hasn't been an issue and my visor stays clear. I run the R1250RS Exclusive and also a R1200R, I've rode a few R1200RS and other with the 1200 engine. Sorry, but the 1250 is light n day. It's far nicer to run, when I ride the 1200 I notice a lot of negative differences, plus the 1250 uses less fuel! Why the hell didn't someone invent the hill brake years ago? I love it. On the 1250 the cruise control is a great feature.(RT adaptive cruise gizmo was just to OTT for me. NOT keen)
I'm so glad I found your channel. I am considering upgrading from my '07 R1200S to a RS and I was interested in the difference between the R1200RS and the R1250RS. I hope to find a 2018 in the states soon.
Hi there lofty biker really enjoying watching your video, just a wee question to you, i have been away from bikes for a couple of years, and im in the progress of buying another bike and i really like the BMW 1200RS, what i would like to know is in your opinion, is there enough room on the pack for a pillion passenger for doing a wee bit of touring, your help would be appreciated Thanks
It certainly is.........fingers crossed me and her indoors will be on the Pont Aven for a tour of the Picos......videos to follow.....theloftybiker tour of northern Spain 2021
Great review. Just what we need to know about the bike. I note the bike is so good there's no need for many add-ons. Amazed it fits you at 6'5" though. I am 5'9" and it's perfect. It's a really overlooked bike. Maybe just missing the pizzazz of higher HP sports tourers but all the torque is in the right place for road riding. Had an RT and downsized. The RS works just as well for long tours. I like the RS better although I think the semi-active suspension works a tiny bit better on the RT. Might be the change in front suspension though. Commuter, sports, and sports tourer wrapped into one bike. What more could we ask for. Thanks for the review. Keep them coming.
That’s what I always do… I had a Kawasaki Versys 650 and I took the screen off and made a custom one that just covered the speedometer plastics. Just so I didn’t look weird. Provided little/no wind protection, and it was soooo much better.
Great video and a great part of the U.K. I'm impatiently waiting 🤨for my own 2018 R1200 RS to be registered here in the Australian Capital Territory (we stupidly register them depending upon which State or Territory you live in). The dealer under-estimated the time taken to do that, so instead of riding it, I'm watching videos instead. My bike is in exactly the same colour scheme as yours.
@@theloftybiker3090 Thanks mate. Canberra is at an elevation of 2500 ft and gets mostly dry cold, so most Aussies would not live here in winter, however I have no such problem!
Thanks for the vid TLB, nice roads! Own the same bike, same colour, sport seat, and love it. Thinking of changing the screen, to be rid of the noise around the helmet - I´m 6´3" - but there are so many options, I don´t really know what to go for. Found a good 2nd hand Vario topcase (off of a F850), it fits the oem rack perfectly and is a lot more versatile than the 28 litre one. Question, any issues with the LeoVince? Remap? Special air filter? Does it do anything other than sound? I happen to like the oem exhaust note... Thanks again for sharing your experience. Cheers!
Ebay ......the seat mesh was very good....stopped the wife sliding forwards ubder braking....can't remember where I got the rack from, but Givi do one now. Sorry not much help.....thanks for watching

I nearly bought an RS in 2015 when they had the lovely lupin blue colour scheme but opted for the GS in the end as I was going to use it for 2 up touring and the wife didn't like the pilion riding position. Nearly 8 years on and having had 3 GS' with the wife no longer wanting to come on the back I quite like the look of the latest sport colour scheme. Now that yiu can get the 1250 with the tubular bars it might just tip me over the edge as at 5'7" the reach with the standard bars is a bit too far as it restricts the view over my shoulders. It is a very over looked bike and the boxer twin really does suit it as a sports tourer, especially if you want to keep a clean licence.
ps. I forgot :-) What's with that Aussie mudguard effort? It looks like a cheap plastic throw back from a 70's bike designer. It's because of the direct drive from the shaft. Go faster before you use it. When I'm feeling sporty I can quick shift foe every change.
