Love to hear Patrik explain the shapes of his board and how fins, sails, mast and boards work together and how 'optimal' depends on how and where you want to sail. I could see myself sail on Patrik stuff exclusively, if the prices were a lot lower and the boards weren't made at Cobra.

Why does the Defi board go better upwind but acceleration is worse ? Which shape details are responsible for these characteristics ?

Very valuable series. The exhibitors on site didn't present anything to me in such detail😁. Patrik is likeable because he doesn't have the answer to everything, but overall he has the most broad experience and possibly the largest model range. I've never driven a Patrik and didn't know where to test it.

I have a question as someone who has absolutely no idea about foil-boards, and still thinks that lightwind fin-windsurfing should be a thing: would it be possible to use a foil board with any volume (yes, I am also an amateur, which is why I still use volume ;) ), put a long fin (i.e. 60cm+) in it and use a large sail to use it for the days with too little wind for planing on regular fin-equipment, or is the shape and aero/hydrodynamics of a foil board so different that it would not go properly? Because I think that the foil boards resemble the formula boards a lot, and when you look at some light wind boards of some brands, the rough shape of the boards are comparable (imo). Will this setup go planing at all, or is the underwater shape of a foil board just not designed for non-foiling/regular planing? Would be interesting to hear what a shaper thinks about that, from a physics/hydrodynamics point of view contra the selling point of view.

Im not an expert at all but if i remember it correctly the nose of a foil board points more up compared to other boards to avoid nosedives when landing. Im not sure how this Will affect the fin performance, but it is one of the differences between a fin board and a foil board.
The iqfoil board also came with a fin to start with (but i dont Think they do anymore), so i Think you should be able to do fin sailing om a foilboard. But as i Said i am not even close to being an expert in this stuff

Just coz you’re no good at foils and don’t enjoy it, doesn’t mean others are the same mate. Foils have revolutionised windsurfing so that people can sail almost 365 days a year coz when there’s wind you can fin and if there’s no wind you can foil.
