Nothing like the feeling when all the dots connect, isn't it! Sometimes it happens to me and then the session stays in my mind for months or even years. Great video.
Excellent footage, really interesting to watch and listen your feedbacks of those two boards! Should be interesting to do the same between 97 and 107, no?
board is of course important but the main performance and feeling aspect is always and ever the fin (length and stiffness), the fin makes the job , try these boards with this same fin ..
Excellent comparison and another great video, Nils. I think the Starboard Isonic in a similar size progresses from a V shape near the front, to a double concave in the middle, to a single concave near the back. Or at least it used to. I wonder how the 107L Dark Horse would compare on the water!
Nice gear! and what a session. I have a 107 and 116 - 8 cm narrower - and an Ezzy 7 m, I cannot wait for the ice to go. Mario's board expert said flat bottom is fastest?.. iIthink so in the old Kinetic board vids.
Aaaaahhh, the "famous" theory about flat, single, double, or even triple concave ! You guys have the answer on your drone footage. Just watch and analyze : 95% of your planing time is spent on the… last 30cm (1") of your board. And this, whatever board you have. There's no concave there, at least a small vee. I'm afraid you've only compared fins and …what else ?
I see your point regarding the fin. High-end carbon fins can make a big difference in how the board flies over the water at full plane. I do think however, that bottom shape does have an influence on how the board feels in chop and how easily or “willingly” it jybes.
@@henricwiegenbroeker8225Agreed ! I'm with you about fins and their differences, and how important they are as the rider is, more or less depending on his skills, "foiling"on. But even if I think you're right about the different hulls and their own properties, I'm more and more sure they don't change the top end speed, or in a very marginal proportion.
The concaves get you up on the plane earlier in light to moderate breeze, by channeling air under the board, lifting the stern. They make a big difference.
@@VintageSoloHarmony the concaves "get you up" ?? Of course, they CAN'T. It's a myth. To do that, you should have an air blower under your board, or run over 100knt (at least !) And there are other reasons why they don't work like this, if they work. We could talk about all day, and night maybe. But it doesn't matter, these guys have shown the rule : only the 30 last centimeters of the board matters, and THE FIN of course, if you want to be fast.
In 2005 I had an ahd 77 the very wide version with a single full width concave, it planed amazingly early. I moved from nz and left it behind, regret that as I can’t find another one.

Quite an interesting video Nils. It would be interested to see if the 107 feels as good with a 37cm fin and a 7.8.

Great windsurfing and really good accompanying music to match the footage!
Nice one! Great work!! Keep it up!! Greetings from sunny & warm Paros island, Greece!!
I think the Carpenter fin that was on the 107L may have also made a difference
im on the Fin this year as my £40 Isonic is FFS a tuttle box but hey a fins ok.. be like the old days
Nice fortage - nice info about the boards 🤙
Nice lay downs!
Is a Sardinia guide coming from you or Mario ?
Would be very nice
War mega!!

What is the reason the board shape is different between slalom boards in the same line up ?
Great video
very interesting comparison; you make me discover theses boards. maybe an expensive comparison forme too....:)
Nice spots in northen Sardegna😮
I’d love to try that gear. Is there a list of places that rent FF?
The spot man, is where? And the better Music to it is : ua-cam.com/video/WuM25U42tiQ/v-deo.html
Lieber Nils!
