    Nothing like the feeling when all the dots connect, isn't it! Sometimes it happens to me and then the session stays in my mind for months or even years. Great video.

    Quite an interesting video Nils. It would be interested to see if the 107 feels as good with a 37cm fin and a 7.8.

    Excellent footage, really interesting to watch and listen your feedbacks of those two boards! Should be interesting to do the same between 97 and 107, no?

    board is of course important but the main performance and feeling aspect is always and ever the fin (length and stiffness), the fin makes the job , try these boards with this same fin ..

    Excellent comparison and another great video, Nils. I think the Starboard Isonic in a similar size progresses from a V shape near the front, to a double concave in the middle, to a single concave near the back. Or at least it used to. I wonder how the 107L Dark Horse would compare on the water!

    I think the Carpenter fin that was on the 107L may have also made a difference

    Nice gear! and what a session.
    I have a 107 and 116 - 8 cm narrower - and an Ezzy 7 m, I cannot wait for the ice to go.
    Mario's board expert said flat bottom is fastest?.. iIthink so in the old Kinetic board vids.

    What is the reason the board shape is different between slalom boards in the same line up ?

    Naja mit 115 Patrik V2 und 7,0 Warp the Daily Business die 36kn in sehr ruhiger entspannter Postion zu fahren. Die Dinger die Ihr gerade Promotet sehen sehr unruhig aus, selbst bei Glattwasser egal ob Doppel oder Monokonkave eben auch bei Taty im Rennen oder in Bonaire im Training zu sehen wie Ihm das Material Schwierigkeiten bereitet. Das wird noch ein langer Weg um an die Highwind Performance von Starboard, FMX oder Patrik heranzukommen!

    • @WindsurfingNils
      @WindsurfingNils  8 місяців тому

      Also in den ersten Testberichten von unabhängigen magazinen sieht es so aus als würden wir ganz vorne mitspielen ;) ich weiß nicht was da unruhig sein soll, die bretter fahren sehr frei, mir persönlich liegen sie mehr als patrik boards, aber das ist geschmackssache... duotone segel taugen zum speeden leider gar nix mehr...

    • @reiry429
      @reiry429 8 місяців тому

      Ja neue Duotone bin ich bei dir daher bin ich auf 2019 Warp zurück😂 Aber sorry Tady hat in der letzten PEA so viel Abflüge im Chop gehabt obwohl er manchmal vorne mit gekämpft hat, es liegt an den Boards! Das ist Fakt, dann die Bonaire Jungs wie Storm etc. werden von den Mädels Dejoungs mit Isonic im Training sowas vom abgezockt das die überlegen wieder zu Starboard zurückzugehen. Ich mag die Boards das Design ist schön, was aber echte Entwicklungsarbeit angeht ist Starboard und FMX aber ehr zu vertrauen! Ich bin mal auf die Labs Serie gespannt die kann ich aber erst im Juni mal testen!

    Aaaaahhh, the "famous" theory about flat, single, double, or even triple concave ! You guys have the answer on your drone footage. Just watch and analyze : 95% of your planing time is spent on the… last 30cm (1") of your board. And this, whatever board you have. There's no concave there, at least a small vee. I'm afraid you've only compared fins and …what else ?

    • @henricwiegenbroeker8225
      @henricwiegenbroeker8225 8 місяців тому

      I see your point regarding the fin. High-end carbon fins can make a big difference in how the board flies over the water at full plane. I do think however, that bottom shape does have an influence on how the board feels in chop and how easily or “willingly” it jybes.

    • @tetrakite
      @tetrakite 8 місяців тому

      @@henricwiegenbroeker8225Agreed ! I'm with you about fins and their differences, and how important they are as the rider is, more or less depending on his skills, "foiling"on. But even if I think you're right about the different hulls and their own properties, I'm more and more sure they don't change the top end speed, or in a very marginal proportion.

    • @VintageSoloHarmony
      @VintageSoloHarmony 7 місяців тому

      The concaves get you up on the plane earlier in light to moderate breeze, by channeling air under the board, lifting the stern. They make a big difference.

    • @tetrakite
      @tetrakite 7 місяців тому

      @@VintageSoloHarmony the concaves "get you up" ?? Of course, they CAN'T. It's a myth. To do that, you should have an air blower under your board, or run over 100knt (at least !) And there are other reasons why they don't work like this, if they work. We could talk about all day, and night maybe. But it doesn't matter, these guys have shown the rule : only the 30 last centimeters of the board matters, and THE FIN of course, if you want to be fast.

    • @VintageSoloHarmony
      @VintageSoloHarmony 7 місяців тому

      In 2005 I had an ahd 77 the very wide version with a single full width concave, it planed amazingly early. I moved from nz and left it behind, regret that as I can’t find another one.
