This is brilliant and the easiest Bed-in-a-box build I have seen so far! My friend and I are reenactors and have slept on the floor on foldable mattresses at Ren-fairs for like 15 years! But we are approaching our mid-thirties and start falling apart so my friend suggested that we maybe build some beds so that we might save our backs in the long run😅. So I researched a bit and found your video❤. I am very exited to show her this
I'm building one of these for some renaissance fair/SCA events. This is perfect for what I need. I look forward to picking up the plans through your etsy page and building this.
Great work, although I hesitate to take on this project because the thing that takes the most space is the mattress not the bed. To me it won't save that much.
Sure, but you would need to put some sort of blocking underneath the middle of the slats for support, I would imagine. Along with making the slats longer too
Love this! I want my husband to build three. I want them as dormer window seats that covert to beds! We have a bedroom, suite above garage! I would like it to be a bunk room!
Can I use 18mm ply for this or do I need to stick to the 1” thick timber? Also do the ends and sides need the rounded legs cut in or can plain rectangular design work? Ps I have bought the plans
The 1x material is actually 3/4", or 19mm so I'm sure 18mm would work. The rounded corners are'nt really necessary, just a cosmetic look so keeping them square should be fine. Happy building!
Couldn’t tell you about weight limit. I built 4 for family (adults) who came from out of State and they worked fine. I don’t intend to do a different size.

That sounds great!
Sir, you are a genius,
Really impressive Ronnie. Well done!!!
Thanks a lot!
I just purchased this plan- I like to sleep on the ground while camping, but my husband, not so much.
Genius. I just need to order two from you!
Just found your channel, really great projects 👍
Thanks for stopping by!
Great idea.
Thanks!
Makes a nice temporary bench.
That’s what my 2 yr old grandson calls it!
Great idea, nice and compact! Thinking outside the box, right!
Thanks!

I use an air mattress. Rolls up nice and tight when not in use. Thanks for stopping by!
impressive
I’m buying a foldable mattress. Have you done one of these with a cabinet like storage above for a folding mattress?
I have not.
Would it be possible to simply make the top and bottom sides longer to make a two person bed?
Sure, but you would need to put some sort of blocking underneath the middle of the slats for support, I would imagine. Along with making the slats longer too
Thank you for the awesome video. I'm interested in building one. What are your thoughts on making it taller. Thank you again.
I made two that were taller so old folks like me can get up and out easier! It's been awhile but if I recall I just made the corner pieces taller.
You have the plans in queen size, by chance?
No, I don't
This is amazing. I'm definitely going to build one. Just one question, once built, what's the approximate weight?
Thanks for watching. It takes 6, 8ft 1x8 boards. I haven't weighed mine but I'd guesss around 65-70 lbs?
How do i get the paper plans for twin. You are very creative. Awesome work.
The link is in the description and my pinned comment. Plans are PDF. You could print them out.

Cool! Sounds like a good plan. Thanks for the feedback.

Do you do commissions? I can’t find anyone who will take on this project.
I do not, sorry.
Do you have plans for a full size?
No, just this one.
What was your total cost of materials?
I don't recall, it's been a while.
Fantastic! What is the weight limit on these? And any future plans to make a queen size? 😊
