I have this and made it the same way but the problem I ran into is that if someone is still in the bed you can't easily slide it or access anything from below without disturbing them ie; having them get off the bed. I later changed the design from the cabinet style front panel to an open frame design that can be covered with a cloth material with easier access.
Jason, absolute genius build! Great job, not only does it pull out to be bigger, but then it lifts up to store lot's of things. You have a thought process for this kind of thing that most people could only dream of having.
Vary Awsome couch. Love the storage under the lift out portion. Never would of thought you could lift that up until you did. Never seen that. It's unique. Thank for sharing
The bench design is just brilliant. We finally figured out exactly how to make one and installed a bench/pull out bed/storage bin in my travel trailer. So cool.
I've watched several videos on how to build these pull out couches but this is the first on I've watched that explains it enough to where i can actually do it now.
Such a great idea. I was searching for a way to convert a window seat into a twin bed for guests. I'm building in the country and when friends visit I'm sure some won't want to drive all the way back to the city. So this is an extra bed without bunking. This gives me a lovely window seat in the guest bedroom with storage and a twin bed in addition to the queen in the guest room. The added benefit is that the only thing I need to put in the closet is the remaining cushion to fill the gap once pulled out. Thank you so much!!! I've sketched out the plan and will start once the home is built. Breaking ground in 2 weeks!!!
Jason, Your video is the most complete ‘start-to-finish video on how to build a project. You might not know this, but for people like me, it is a real treasure to watch. Nothing frustrates me more than for a video to begin a demonstration and then just leap over critical steps! Grrrrr! Anyway, you did great and thanks so much for sharing your skill. If you have time, could you think over a design for building a trundle bed for a bus?
Great video! You always do quality work. My parents had an Airstream for years. My dad said that is the easiest pulling trailer out there because it is so aerodynamic. I’ve pulled it before & it was a breeze. We borrowed it & took it on a camping trip & our friends kept calling it the Silver Twinkie. Hugs from Fort Worth, Texas.
Wow! Pretty amazing! I love that curved ruler for rounded cuts. I've always had to use cardboard patterns which are not quite as accurate, but yours was a precision cut. Great design.
Awesome build, love the whole couch and pullout, but especially your demonstration on how conversations will happen, as you talk with imaginary friends, very cute.
I've been thinking about buying and renovating an old airstream as my first house while in college for my dogs and me so I can moe out on my own. This gives me some good ideas thanks!
That's well built, well attached, and super custom. I only think about worst case scenario's though. It's only a matter of time before a knuckle head doesn't keep the windows caulked, and leaks rot the floor. All that hard work will have to be torn out to replace the floor. I would have built it to be removable. Either way it would be years before that happens. Really good job.
I wasn't sure where you was going with the extra 2x's but after seeing it finished you're a genius want to build me a couple of them 😆 I love the idea the extra storage is what I've been looking for and not knowing how to do but with your concept I'm loving it I'm going to have to build me a couple for my living room . Thank you so much exactly what I was looking for
WOW WHAT A CRAFTSMAN, I can watch all these vid over and over. Just dont have the ability. And big bonus ur not bragging, no raunchy irritating music OVERPOWERING in background. You should be proud of yourself.
Well done! Enjoyed the simplicity of construction of the bed, and the way you left it open (and hinged) inside for storage, which is so important in campers. The handhold holes I thought were simply an elegant way of enabling gripping it for pullout.
Your family is awesome ! And i was subscribed but haven't been on till Crocker family reminded me so im back and so glad you all had a good time together and they could learn new ways to cook and do other things thanks to your warm inviting personality ! Your wife is the best !! Geez mad skills !!! So talented !!!
Amazing!! You are so talented. Not only are you skilled at building 🔨, but also at filming 🎥 I enjoyed this video very much, thanks for sharing with us!!
Thanks for sharing this. I saw this in someone's cargo trailer-turned camper and wanted to build it but couldn't find a 'how to' video so this is great and I also saw it in the bus conversation you worked on. I wondered why they didn't make the pull out wider. The storage is important too in tiny spaces.
Great video - thank you! I've been intimidated about building one of these sofa to beds with the slats. Until watching your video. Now, I'm feeling pretty confident. LOL I would have LOVED to have seen the very final result - after it had been painted and with cushions, linens, etc. on it......
Jason! I just built a pull out couch/bed based on your design here. Super helpful! I’ll be sure to give you a shout-out when I post that episode. Thanks for all you do!
This is soo nice! With my kids grown and on their own I want to downsize to a studio… I wanna make a twin daybed trundle that converts into a single platform king size bed… I think I can do that with how you did the slide out couch 🤔
I am renovating our 2002 keystone and I love the bed idea. Storage is at a premium and I need a modified version of that pull out bed. Wish there were more detailed instructions on how it was made.
Oh wow Jason, your carpentry is so awesome!!! That sofa frame is absolutely wonderful. Keep doing great things. You are a wood working genius. Kudos to you.
I recently ordered a day bed/trundle bed built in a similar way. Instead of the trundle part sliding out from under the day bed, half of the slats pull out like yours forming the other half of the bed. You simply add a twin mattress to each half forming a king size bed. It doesn’t lift up for storage like your creative piece, but it does have 2 drawers that can slide open even when the extra bed is pulled out. I am absolutely sure the quality is not even close to yours, but hopefully it will work for a guest room. Thanks for sharing another of your many talents.
Appliances and Electronics@@1jmass Thanks so much! The video amazes me, he's so talented. I'm a little nervous to try my skillset out on this! Thanks for the information.
First time watching your channel. I've been researching a pull out for my van. Wow, nicely done & finished too. A lil more beefy than I want for my van, but excellent inspiration & the best pull out video I've seen. I love that curvy tool. It works similar to a bendy tool I have for sewing. You have mad Carpenter skills. Ty for posting!
Jason that is way so cool. Gotta have one of those flexible rulers. I love the way you give every job your best ideas and quality best too! When my ship comes in... I'm hiring you!!!😊
I went to Harbor Freight to day for the first time. I want a nail gun and a table saw and a compressor. This funny thought crossed my mind. " This must be what most girls feel when they walk into some expensive shoe store." Said I Me replies with " If we had all those expensive shoe's I'd be selling them!!! " Watching you make this was so awesome! !!!! THANK YOU
Just a quick question, why have you left four of the lats smaller than the rest for the bed? Excellent job by the way, 👌💕 exactly what I need to make myself!! Thank you from uk 🇬🇧 🙏
You can find the bendy Flexible Ruler HERE: bit.ly/30TNPv1
Thanks for the infor. That is something I need for my carpenter. I enjoyed your work bro. 🤙🏼
Never ever build a box without storage underneath, every inch has been utilized on this superb build. Top job.
Of all the pull-out couch/beds, this one is far superior to the rest. Thank you for sharing and for the inspo!
thank you!
@@SowtheLand ,

@sowtheland any chance you have plans for that slide out storage bed.
I'd love to modify this for a couch
For a guy who worked in a cubicle for all those years, you sure are a very good craftsman.

That part when you're faking to speak to someone deserve a thumbs up because you made me smile.
This is one of the best DIY carpentry videos I’ve seen in a while. Thank you!
I've watched several videos on how to build these pull out couches but this is the first on I've watched that explains it enough to where i can actually do it now.
Renovating a 1984 camper and I’m going to attempt to make this couch! Thank you for sharing!
This is an awesome design. One of the most thorough and easy to understand how-to's for this type of thing that I've come across so far.
Glad it was helpful!
Agreed! I kept expecting to see the video jump over some critical step, but he didn’t do that to us. Thank you Jason!
TYSM!! You make it so much simpler, quicker, and nicer than any other video about building these platforms!

long live the silver Twinkie! thanks for saying hi!
Wow that's really impressive and super creative, without being overly complex
You're a gifted carpenter! Beautiful job- can't wait to see the finished project😊
Oh BTW that curved profile tool was an eye opener...
Superb! This is exactly what I'm seeking for my little campervan build. I'd overlooked using the bed as storage, so thanks for this. So helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
Impressive design, best version I've seen of a pullout bed/couch!
Wow, thanks! I appreciate you saying. Thank you so much.
You're a genius! I was wondering about the hinges on the pull out bed. Blew my mind when you lifted it. Excellent!
I’m building one of these right now. Glad I came across your channel you know your shit. Thanks for the help
Everything you build is a piece of art thank you for today
I appreciate it Vickie!

Cool .., when the pull up couch lift up is like a magic. Maybe I'll try to make it using hollow steel.
Wonderful! I believe you really put your brain in it. I want it done in our home. Thanks!

Love watching you work your gift. This would be great in a child's bedroom.

Bravo . . . perfect and you are quite a craftsman!!
Thank you very much!
