This is the best tutorial for belly flutter I've seen. You've incredibly explained the technique. I was practicing belly flutter since long time but couldn't achieve but now i think i can reach my goal in no time because now i know how to execute it . you're an amazing instructor. Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you...ugh I'm so lame I can't do it fast but I can TAHITIAN faarapu 253 rotations per minute..a crowd counted my rotations of my hips. But flutters ugh. I think my abs still need a workout I've had 6 kids..pretty old and worn out abs..everything is looking pretty great for 55..no one believes I am..I am proud of my age because I take really good care of my skin my body and my health is excellent no health issues whatsoever ive been bellydancing since i learned at 12 with zhorina..i dont remember anything else a small very curly long hair tiny lady she was awesome to me. I loved her patience and instruction i bet she never woulkd have guessed her influence kept me bellydancing for 43years..at paramount park a class held in a community hall auditorium. Pretty great. You are a great teacher you should always teach..wish u were local. Namaste sweet lady thank you so kuch.
Tamara Kennedy wow!! Thank you for your kind words! What an inspiring story!! I bet Shirin’s would be so proud. Congrats on having 6 kids and being healthy too! I hope you keep dancing 😍
This was one of the best explanation of doing a belly flutter!! I have been trying to learn this the right way and I can't thank you enough! Absolutely loved it!!! Thank you for sharing to the belly dancing community!
I was just about to comment that your explanation and demonstration is the best one I've seen, but I see I've been beat to it lol. I really appreciate that you actually showed yourself doing a belly flutter. Other videos I've seen, they just slowly demonstrate sucking in and poking out and that's the end of the tutorial. Thank you so much!
I could never quite get this right until I watched this video. None of my teachers really explained it very well, or online teachers. Thank you so much for this amazing, very helpful video! I just subscribed❤
Thank you for this amazing explanation! I am learning belly dancing from an online belly dance class and I did not understand the belly flutter at all! But now I do and I will be doing your recommended excersises. Thank you so much :D
Whoa... As a Belly dancer I've been trying to learn the Belly flutter for a long while I've done Belly rolling but I need some extra help with the Belly flutter. It kinda hurts my stomach when I did the belly flutter😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for the question! Its tricky to explain but another way to think of the "push" is to kind of bounce the belly/abdominal wall. So if you are drawing your abdominal up and in, then you want to push/bounce your belly down and out while retaining the suction/holding your breath in your diaphragm.but dont push too hard because your abdominal wall needs to remain totally slack and relaxed. i hope this clarifies it a bit.
I’m not breathing in and out fast. It’s the diaphragm lifting and dropping and that creates the in and our effect on the belly. I’m isolating the diaphragm From my breath
Thank you so much 😍 do you mean warm up for flutter or warm up for dance practice in general? In my full class videos you will get a warm up prior to learning the steps ❤️🙏🏼
This was the best tutorial so far! However, what am I pushing? How do I know what it feels like? I think I'm missing something and would like help if someone can tell me
Hi! Thanks for your tutorial. I’ve been trying to do this for some time. As of now, I noticed my chest is also going up and down (or simply my chest is moving) when I’m pushing my diaphragm out out out...any advice?
Corina Harmon yes. I just noticed myself doing the wrong thing. I saw my jugular notch was released when I’m trying to push my diaphragm out out out. So, that’s the cause of my chest moving. Wow!! What a great discovery…thanks again for your tutorial. It’s very helpful 🥰🥰🥰😘😘😘
Chrystal Hsu aww yay! I’m so glad you figured it out! Yes, that is usually the most common issue with flutters is not holding the breath properly and keeping that “lock” at the jugular both. And my pleasure, let me know if you have any other questions!
On the first drill you don't breathe right? I am not sure if I can do the belly flutters safely because I had a hiatal hernia and doing the "stomach vacuum" exercise seemed to irritate it. Maybe I can try this in the future and maybe it can help strengthen my diaphragm, but any abdominal movement that involves apnea scares me a little bit
Hi great questions! Your lungs should neither be at max fullness or completely out of air. Somewhere in the middle but more on the emptier side. The speed of the flutter depends on how well you can isolate your diaphragm and how relaxed you can keep your belly. Practice will get you there ❤️
Yes it can for sure be learned! I didn’t know how to do it in the beginning either! I would say the most common problem for most people who struggle with it is not doing the vacuum correctly and engaging the abs. The stomach has to be totally slack and relaxed. Also it’s important to keep the vacuum engaged even when release the Belly out. So when you suck in to create the vacuum, don’t release all the way out. Just do a quick release and pull back in right away. Hope that makes sense

This was the best tutorial so far! However, what am I pushing? How do I know what it feels like? I think I'm missing something and would like help if someone can tell me
What I meant by pushing is releasing the diaphragm downwards because that creates the “out” effect on the belly flutter
Thank you for this breakdown! I'm going to share this video with my students.
thanks!
When u do the drill n exercise, do u also hold your breath?

Two questions how do you get faster? Are your lungs supposed to be full or empty when you do this?
Hi great questions! Your lungs should neither be at max fullness or completely out of air. Somewhere in the middle but more on the emptier side. The speed of the flutter depends on how well you can isolate your diaphragm and how relaxed you can keep your belly. Practice will get you there ❤️
