I thought I should mention that it takes more than 9 minutes to get the chest circle right. If you practice, practice, practice the 2 movements shown you will eventually get the chest circle. Unless you are already familiar with belly dance movements, this is not a movement we do in every day lives so don't be hard on yourselves and put in the practice.

I have a broken back and I'm doing this to help strengthen my back and ab muscles. This is day 1. Or night 1 as the case is. I figured I've lost so much time, so here's to me doing my best.
I'm so glad I pulled this up. I danced until my then-husband (very abusive) flipped out and didn't want me "dancing sexy." I danced for myself, but he twisted my arms (sometimes literally). I miss dancing. I may only start again with UA-cam, but I'll be dancing again. ETA: before anyone asks, yes, it's been years, and I briefly remarried, but my ex-wife was just as bad. She stopped me from studying because "cultural appropriation." I have terrible taste in spouses.

I was looking some creative way to stay fit, because I could not motivate myself using my treadmill 😂 I am sure learning belly dance with some Arabic beats will get me excited as well as help me to lose some calories. Excellent class, this is also the basis for Afro-Cuban body isolations 4:54. We do this thousands of times to loosen the rib cage. Circle 5:44. w/Music 6:40 You are lovely.

C Bee I’ve completed lessons 1-7 so far, but I’ve also been watching other videos for practice. I have chest lifts and drops down, as well as chest slides but I struggle a bit with chest circles. I’ve noticed that if I’m looking at myself in the mirror it’s harder to get any of these moves right, so I either practice with my eyes closed for a brief moment or I don’t use a mirror the entire practice. I try to belly dance for at least an hour a day. I will admit that I have not practiced in about four or five days though. My biggest issue is that I don’t know how to relax and have fun, but there are days when I really do try to just have fun with it. My belly dancing moves look so much better when I’m not trying too hard. I don’t like to go on to a new move until I feel confident in the others. I most likely will not learn the choreography in these lessons until after I’ve gotten every move down. I will say that I see improvement compared to last month! It really helps if you watch other tutorials, because you may find that other people’s techniques are easier than the ones shown in this series. I hope this helps. :)

Isolation, I found that doing just the up/down chest isolation enough to get used to even doing that movement was challenging, then the side to side made me ach and I only did this video, no chest circles at all, Im really respecting the control it takes to belly dance, Im doing this every morning, and going to work my way up! I'm not very good either, but I have found that imaging myself drawing a circle with my chest around myself is helpful. Keep practicing and you'll get there!

Omg. Ahhhh i have tried to belly dance on and off for years and i can never get it quite right. I was an athlete, cheerleader, cheer dance coach, & boxer. Ive always had such respect for the art of belly dancing, its such a beautiful difficult seduction. I just cant lift my chest up and down or side to side without moving my shoulders or hips. Your teaching style is top notch tho i must say. You broke it down so well that i might actually be able to pick it up if i keep repeating the moves daily til i get it! I cant wait for lesson 2. Lets hope it doesn't take me that long
