You're right - there's no other videos that demonstrate this procedure! Thanks much for making this good quality "how to" video! Really answered a LOT of questions for me, especially as to whether it is permissible to cut down an over-long scupper cylinder. So grateful for this!!!
Great vid and thank you.
Mineral Spirits is my favorite go-to organic solvent for cleanup. Acetone and Mineral Spirits sit side by side on my shelf, and they both have great useful needs.
Clorox wipes clean up caulk really well too! Just be super careful to not use it where you want the caulk to stick as it won’t.
I used a scotch scrubby pad to remove the old caulk and a small pocket knife to remove the sealant inside the hole as good as possible.
Nice video, Thanks for sharing!
can you just remove the silver screw and change the flap without removing the housing?
Wich Scupper Drains you used?
TH marine push through scuppers
Who makes/Where did you get that step?
Armstrong
You really need to invest in some plastic razor blades! You can scrape all the sealer off without scratching the gelcoat!
So what is this hole for?
Cockpit drain.
Splash well drain to get water out of the boat that splashes in
Great video but I’m not clear on why you wanted to replace the scuppers to begin with
Thanks, they have a little rubber flap on the end that allows water out but stops it from coming back in. Eventually that flap wears out and water splashes back in while it’s trying to drain, now it just plugs the hole until the scupper rolls above the water line (in rough seas) and the splash well continues to drain.
When making how to videos, TURN THE MUSIC OFF!!!
