So clever, don't take this the wrong way but you are the "Delia Smith" of tie dye, you explain things meticulously & also point out what to do to a avoid mistakes 😊
Thank you ... I received most of my training to create these videos from the 17 years I spent doing School Tie-Dye Events ... I had 20-25 kids standing in front of my table asking questions as I explained how to do tie-dye ✌🏻💚🙏
Love your videos. Sooo inspriational. I swear you can get the world to turn to art! I am just waiting for my stuff to come. You keep it up. Spread the tie dye love
Thank you so much and yes I think the World needs more art and with these videos, more people can have success with tie-dye... my plan is to keep on creating more videos and making tapestries :) and you will have some fun once your supplies arrive :-)

do you mean a resist?? if so, then someone just Brough my awareness to this from dharma.... I got some in, but have not tried it yet :www.dharmatrading.com/chemicals/jacquard-white-waterbased-resist.html the other thing that comes to mind for just a clear thick liquid is Super Clear , also from dharma : www.dharmatrading.com/chemicals/superclear.html ..... I use this sometimes to make thick dyes as it is already thickened, but it is not as thick as what you get from using sodium alginate
@@MrTieDye I saw this done on a tutorial with a thick clear liquid and they chopped the whole celery in half and dipped it into the clear liquid to make the rose print I don't know if they thickened the bleach or what they dipped it in
Can you re do a tye dye shirt? I tye dyed several shirts at one time. Rinsed. The colors looked great. I put them in the dryer and they came out looking awful. Brightness gone. What did I do wrong?
Thank you so much for showing these. I'm going to try both today. The best one will be for my granddaughter's birthday. You mentioned that you made the gray with water. Do you not use urea when you mix your dyes?
I use Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes. I buy most of mine from Dharma Trading Co. www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-fiber-reactive-procion-dyes.html I have also purchased the same kind of dyes from Custom Colours in NC and Grateful Dye in CO. Here is a video on how to mix the dyes: ua-cam.com/video/3Fj289T6BVg/v-deo.html
my regular dyes have just a bit of thickener in them, but not too much as it would inhibit the flow of the dye and mess with saturation ..... but the black dye that I use to outline my 'image' tie dyes, that I thicken a lot, but I also use a cuticle pusher to 'press' the dye further into the tees and I do have a couple videos on how I thicken my dye if needed
Thanks for the video. Have been watching a lot of your videos and they are pretty good to learn with. But please I have a question. Do you mix your die with cold water? Or how do you mix your die? I will expect you reply soon. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. Now I see how you mix the dye. Have been into tie and dye since 2005 but there only one method of dye mixing i know. We boil the the water til is extremely very boiled, we add the quantity of dye, sulphate and soda ash together then pour the very boiled water into mixed dye before we dye the cloth. But, i noticed you didn't make mention of sulphate. Don't you use sulphate and at what time do you use soda ash? Thank you as I await your reply.
Thank you, I love what I do. As for turning the tees inside out to dye... there are a few reasons .... first of all, I can grab the seams easily to straighten the tee out, ...... But the main reason is Tiny spots from dye that does not dissolve all the way.... happens with reds, browns and purples.... but most times the tiny spots are just on one side of the tee, so in this case, they will be on the inside of the tee also, I do a lot of designs where i am marking on the tee with a pencil and this leaves little markers sometimes that do not wash out, so they will be on the inside
for tips. visit your local joann's or quilting store. they make something called "wonder clips" which you might enjoy using. Also check out ebay and amazon for these. from a quilter fan of yours
I started leaving mine for 48 hours when I was trying to get my blacks to be darker as they take longer to set up.... and I noticed that all of my colors looked a little better .... plus it makes the wash out easier as most of the dye is pretty much spent by the time I start rinsing, so it also lessens the chance of back staining in the washer
Yes I would have.... this is a fun design to explore with .... here is a rainbow spiral I did with the time Warp a couple years ago mrtiedye.myshopify.com/products/adult-medium-tie-dye-rainbow-spiral-time-warp-tee?_pos=2&_sid=22d9e8a05&_ss=r and i did some Eye of Sauron tees back in the day ,,,,, facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10216834560716637&set=a.10216834405192749&type=3&theater
