To be fair, Kiko had a really good skill tree. 90% of the common blades I pull have stuff like more damage to machines, decreased damage from earth, and increases gold drop rate. And then when I do pull one with decent skills it ends up being a shield hammer or it only has one aux core slot.
One of the better ones I pulled was late ch2. A two crown, female katana with an Agility mod of 11%, got evasion aura (up to level 3 if I remember correctly, boosting evasion rate to 15% at max affinity), and two aux core slots. With a Pentagon chip, she got 50 on Agility. She had great crit rate sitting around 36-40% that early on with the chip. I went all in on evasion and accuracy on the aux cores. The blade arts go off at random but I had arts recharge and accuracy up too. What killed her use was Tora eventually outdoing me on damage and the gross node on her chart that needed _16_ merc missions. If they just cut the minimum number of merc missions required on a node in half, I wouldn't despise the node existing quite as much.
Well, if she’s still a common, she’s not going to be one for too much longer. I wouldn’t be surprised if she becomes a rare in a few more pulls. Fantastic time, too, since by the time she becomes one, Amalthus (and Indol) would be long gone.

Now that I think about it, it would be really cool if you made a guide on efficiently grinding in X. It would be really helpful for people like me who still haven't beaten bosses like Telethia, Gradivus or Pharsis
2 is definitely the least grindy of all the games, you can get all the exp you nee with chain attack overkills just from story (usually, maybe not if you do this like I did haha)

I actually never even unlocked the Skells in X because I got stuck at a part where I literally just had to grind XP to level up to accept the quest. I put the game down and haven't touched it since.
Element Bomb is actually a standard art for all enemies in that family. While it does do a lot of self-damage, IIRC it isn't guaranteed to kill the user if they have enough HP, and will cause the user to lose their attribute (reminder, this family of enemy has no natural attribute and uses Copy Element to acquire one).
I started watching you're videos just some days ago, and I think that you're one of the best content creator that I now, you're game play si amazing, you're comentatin is just perfect and overall you're videos are a 10/10. I wish xenoblade had a bigger reputation so that you could get more viewers, cus it's a shame that someone like you isn't that big in the UA-cam community. ❤️
I am aware of the benefits of common blades but I just find it more interesting to use rare blades that actually have some sort of character to them. I like seeing all of the different interactions.
Recently, I came up with the idea of a randomized custom difficulty settings run: randomly choose numbers from 1-10 for each difficulty setting to determine what the settings would be (last two settings that are unlocked later you choose 1-4). At the start of each chapter, you reroll for new settings. It’s a ton of fun because each chapter plays differently, you can get really easy settings, really hard ones, or a crazy combination. In my run, I had a really hard chapter 7 because enemy hp was almost max, high attack frequency, and really low health regen. Jin and Malos were a nightmare. For Aion I had a harder time than I anticipated too because both attack power and frequency were high, while hp was average and both party gauge gains and chain attacks were severely nerfed. I would definitely recommend others to try out this idea. I’m hoping DE has custom settings too so this can been done there, but so far it doesn’t seem like it’s in the game so oh well
This video was eye-opening in terms of just how important equipment is for this game...hell, any Xenoblade game, really. Having boosts to agility and access to crit heal really does make things easier. Also never realized the final Jin fight gives him an evasion spike. No wonder he's such a wall for most players if you don't focus on having better accuracy at that point.
Wait, you didn't know about Elemental Bomb? I would have thought that that was the strategy for the Infernal Guldo fight: wait for him to start using it, then chain attack. But hey, that's just something I found interesting. I guess that means you just kill him fast, because that's just who you are.
This was fascinating! I love seeing ideas about what's necessary and not refuted like this. Since you had to grind a touch at the end there you could almost say the zombie hovers are unnecessary too - maybe getting more levels earlier when they were more exp-efficient would have ended you up at about the same place? Still, even with an ideal blade, soloing the final boss at level 61 is impressive. Great video!
25:08 plus, since you deliberately use them as little as possible, their phantasms are weaker. That’s right: the phantasms are always at the same level as their corresponding party member at the time. I wonder if they also have the same cores/accessories.
Forgive me but I never played this game before but have watched the speedruns. All I wanna say is, this game has some really nice waifus. Looking forward to playing this but just want to wait until the first one comes out so I can play that one first for continuity sake.
not knowing how much of XC2's story you know, the games don't need to be played in a certain order to make sense, the game has some references late into the story that relate to the first game, but it can be easily understood without playing the first, however playing both games does link many moments together.
@@AdfasSSBM I know this much at least. People often compare it to Final Fantasy where each game is separate. But what I mean by continuity's sake is to play the games in order that they were released. I want that experience many others had playing the first Xenoblade back then on the Wii.
I wonder how hard it would be to only use the blades that you are forced to open (like the Wind Knuckles from Gramps, and Roc), and not using the blade pulling system outside of that? (even if you get a core that you know what's inside, like Wulfric, Aegeon, etc.) So, Rex would only have access to his Aegis, Wind Knuckles, Roc, and Catalyst Scimitar blades, Tora with his 3 Poppies, and everyone else having their single Partner.
Wow, I'm just left speechless. I must suck playing this game..... Close to 100h of playtime exploring and I'm stuck at defeating infernal guldo yet so close to the ending. I probably will change to easy mode and finish of this masterpiece game, rage quit because I couldn't do it.
Is that the "zombie king" at the Bottom of the World Tree? Yeah he can 1 hit your whole team. Best try to get an orb on him and start an chain attack if he is about 25% and / or start his deadly move.
Notice that not once in this run has Enel used Dromarch. The reason for this is that since its not a speedrun, Enel isnt worried about going as fast as possible enelSpeed ((I still need to change my youtube to be Sergeant Slowpoke oml) edit: it has been done)
I used to watch a Twitch streamer ages back (can't remember his name) but he used to do loads of challenges centred around Tora. This is a nice reminder of how many different ways there are to play this masterpiece.
The issue with commons is that rares take much longer to develop so I'm usually unwilling to waste a slot (i.e the trust gains) on a common who has no quests or heart-to-hearts to work toward. It's the same issue I have with blades like Dahlia, Agate or Wulfric where I never used them after I maxed out all I could. Many rare blades I got early on in chapter 3 sat on the sidelines 99% of the time until after I beat the game. Unless of course I have no alternative for either weapon or element reasons. By the time I got Zeke I was in the place where getting new rares was not happening so until I got quest/story rares he was using a two star spear and three star axe type. Three crowns and above typically are good blades. Sometimes a two crown is as good as a three+.
I ended up bringing a few common Blades with me all the way up to the fight with Aion at the end, not because I thought they had useful skills or anything (I rarely checked what skills even my rare Blades had throughout my first playthrough of the game), but because I felt like it, so my first thought was that obviously you could use common Blades to beat the game. Then I realized that the title was singular, not plural :v
Also your videos have gotten so much better! The thumbnails and overall editing has improved so much man. Love to see it. Looking forward to all of your Xenoblade 1 content when it comes out
This is a really good video! I myself am still using rare blades and getting my butt kicked lol, speaking of which will you ever do a video with updated builds of the rare blades in this game? Most of of the rare blade build videos on youtube are 1-2 years old and some of their builds don't compare to the crazy stuff you do in those dlc challenge runs.
I love these mitten squad esc videos, also for videos like this and your speed runs the post commentary really seems to me to be the way to go especially with the new mic quality
When Xenoblade DE comes out, could you try to beat it at Level 1 (Expert mode allows to change your level). I'd also like to see if you would beat Xenoblade 2 at Level 1 if that's possible.
in the video you say you dont know what compelled you to make this video, but you enjoyed it anyway. I dont know what compelled you either, but i bet i enjoyed it as much as you did! great content, this was really cool to watch through. now try and beat some superbosses!
So, I tried this challenge a while ago after seeing your video. And funnily enough, I ended up having not as much trouble with Lila at all, instead struggling with all the three Jin fights. Most other fights were not too hard. I did another challenge recently, where I was only allowed to use Tora and Poppi. And it ended up being pretty interesting because I had to rely on completely different strategies than you'd expect. But god was Amalthus a pain in the neck
This is really cool. I don't think I would want to play this way, because I really enjoyed using all the different rare blades, leveling them up, doing their quests, etc. but it's neat that this was possible.
This just in: Top Tier Common blade with 5 layers of trust somehow just as powerful as Rare Blades. Up next: Where is KOSMOS? What you can do to waste time instead of grinding for the 2nd best top waifu. (Pyrha/Mythra/Pneuma all tie for top tier) Wonderful video! I have no idea why this showed up in my recommended videos years after I beat this game, but an interesting watch all the same.
i love challenge videos like this, they're always so entertaining to watch. if you're taking suggestions on future challenges then i think an underwear only run of xenoblade de would be pretty great
This kinda brings back memory of me solo-ing the superbosses in XC1. I only managed to do it with Sharla and Seven (w/ Chain Attack) though, but that was really challenging (it took me an entire in-game day to wear down the last boss using Sharla orz). Say, are you going to do solo runs in the XC1 remake as well?
"Common Blades are trash" Slap a most or a lot and that becomes true, but get something like commons with quick swap and healing wind (Ursula's main draw) and boom, you can just blade swap to only have to fear one shots as an example.
I'd love to see you do xenoblade nuzlocke. You have to use a singular party member and awaken a blade. If that member loses in battle they and the blade considered dead and you must swap to someone else. You are only allowed to have one common/rare blade active per character. You Only awaken one core crystal when you reach a new titan and or town/city (possibly secret areas) other areas/landmarks like the wastes in mor ardain or the vast field in gormot do not count. Cap your level just enough to make it a challenge on the hardest difficulty, you can cap yourself based around the general leveling around a certain area, you cannot use the stored exp. You can change equipment for drivers for blades you are only allowed to change chips. You are allowed to get mods for poppy but once you use up a slot for a mod you cannot change it. When it comes to tora Qt pi is off limits. The challenge ends with a gold metal when you beat the game, silver metal for atleast getting half way bronze if you gave up pretty early on but put in effort. Idk what to change or add but I think its a pretty neat challenge. Love your vids, keep up the great work! EDIT: you can have self imposed rules if you want. Or revise these rules as you see fit.
13 hours to beat Xenoblade Chronicles 2!? It took me over 100! ...Then again, I barely had a clue how the combat system works. Nice work! ...It seems that the Xenoblade series has a tendency to punish those who don't know how to set up a build.
@@EnelXC Wow, you weren't joking; I looked it up. I typically play games for their story, and XC2 is no exception to that...but to know its mechanics so intimately that you can beat it that fast requires a different level of dedication. How long did it take you to piece that strategy together?
Damn dude.. kinda have a new respect for the common blades now. THANK YOU! FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GETS IT. Rare blades are fine and all but the common blades carried my team. You want elemental mastery?? Common blades got your back. They give it to you easier than the rare blades. Commons just need simple task to unlock their skills but rare blades usually need chapter progression
my issue with most common blades i would pull is one of 2 things, the RNG what even gives for skills and such which is always a pain, and the fact some stuff is gated in a way to where unless you got your level of knowlage its hard to use. beyond that solid challange
Honestly, If it weren't for the common blades, I would've missed like 40% of the stuff behind field skills and made battles a little hard before getting some rare blades. Man, Kiko is after my own heart, best waifu hands down!
I have a 4 star Dark Megalance blade, he has some damn good abilities that revolve around healing himself. He has 3 Aux. slots, and the driver (Zeke) has accessories that all compliment a Vampiric build. Zeke uses one art and he literally regains like 75% of his health
When I was playing the game I also got a blade called Kiko early game. She was a wind type attacker with a lance (idk if that is the real name for the weapon but it's the same weapon as Wulfric's), I used her quite a lot throughout the beginning of the game, despite my friend constantly telling me common blades are useless. But she kinda fell off once I unlocked Roc on Rex, who also was a wind blade but he also had a smash art wich I didn't have in the party yet.
Kiko is gonna be a rare blade when they remaster this game in 10 years

but In 2, only the Cliffs of Morytha bosses required me to grind.
I actually never even unlocked the Skells in X because I got stuck at a part where I literally just had to grind XP to level up to accept the quest. I put the game down and haven't touched it since.
Ph33rTheDens lol
me too, but now I wanna play it again
Element Bomb is actually a standard art for all enemies in that family. While it does do a lot of self-damage, IIRC it isn't guaranteed to kill the user if they have enough HP, and will cause the user to lose their attribute (reminder, this family of enemy has no natural attribute and uses Copy Element to acquire one).
My favorite Xenoblade speedrunner and content creator, indeed
I started watching you're videos just some days ago, and I think that you're one of the best content creator that I now, you're game play si amazing, you're comentatin is just perfect and overall you're videos are a 10/10.
I wish xenoblade had a bigger reputation so that you could get more viewers, cus it's a shame that someone like you isn't that big in the UA-cam community. ❤️
Which fossil did you pick? Oh wait wrong channel.
Well we should comment anyway. Comments help the UA-cam algorithm
I think he pick the V-raptor skull, idk smh
Comman blades suck because they aren't hot waifus. This is fact and can't be disputed
"Damn Wulfric you be looking thicc!" Also dont call Ursula hot or the fbi will be moving in
Did you watch the video? Kiko is the hottest waifu!
*cough* kiko *cough*
What are you talking about bitball brute with helmet is one hot piece of ass
Kiko
Enel is my favorite speedrunning and Xenoblade content creator. Broggers
Wait, you didn't know about Elemental Bomb? I would have thought that that was the strategy for the Infernal Guldo fight: wait for him to start using it, then chain attack.
But hey, that's just something I found interesting. I guess that means you just kill him fast, because that's just who you are.
i had never seen it before this fight lol
Looking forward to playing this but just want to wait until the first one comes out so I can play that one first for continuity sake.
understandable, I hope you enjoy!
not knowing how much of XC2's story you know, the games don't need to be played in a certain order to make sense, the game has some references late into the story that relate to the first game, but it can be easily understood without playing the first, however playing both games does link many moments together.
@@AdfasSSBM I know this much at least. People often compare it to Final Fantasy where each game is separate. But what I mean by continuity's sake is to play the games in order that they were released.
I want that experience many others had playing the first Xenoblade back then on the Wii.
Put kiko on the tier list
Imagine being a blade that's basically a god but your driver only uses that one basic bitch.
I was really entertained throughout the whole video. Keep up the good work man!
I wonder how hard it would be to only use the blades that you are forced to open (like the Wind Knuckles from Gramps, and Roc), and not using the blade pulling system outside of that? (even if you get a core that you know what's inside, like Wulfric, Aegeon, etc.)
So, Rex would only have access to his Aegis, Wind Knuckles, Roc, and Catalyst Scimitar blades, Tora with his 3 Poppies, and everyone else having their single Partner.
Still skipped the Hot-spring cutscene smh
Great video! The concept is really cool and I love what you do with this game in general but this different type of content was very fun to watch.
Wow, I'm just left speechless. I must suck playing this game..... Close to 100h of playtime exploring and I'm stuck at defeating infernal guldo yet so close to the ending. I probably will change to easy mode and finish of this masterpiece game, rage quit because I couldn't do it.
Fyi easy mode is still hard
Is that the "zombie king" at the Bottom of the World Tree? Yeah he can 1 hit your whole team. Best try to get an orb on him and start an chain attack if he is about 25% and / or start his deadly move.
Notice that not once in this run has Enel used Dromarch. The reason for this is that since its not a speedrun, Enel isnt worried about going as fast as possible enelSpeed
((I still need to change my youtube to be Sergeant Slowpoke oml) edit: it has been done)
At this point I expect the next video from Enel to just be him discovering IRL time travel via Xenoblade and beating the game before it starts.
I really like your Content man. It's informative, it never slogs, you pace everything so well. Take care man.

*Glares at Godfrey (more like Godawful lmao)*
I ended up bringing a few common Blades with me all the way up to the fight with Aion at the end, not because I thought they had useful skills or anything (I rarely checked what skills even my rare Blades had throughout my first playthrough of the game), but because I felt like it, so my first thought was that obviously you could use common Blades to beat the game. Then I realized that the title was singular, not plural :v
Enel: min-maxes everything to solo the game with a common blade
Me: beats the game without knowing what agility is
Also your videos have gotten so much better! The thumbnails and overall editing has improved so much man. Love to see it. Looking forward to all of your Xenoblade 1 content when it comes out
did this man really pull three rare blades in a row
This is a really good video! I myself am still using rare blades and getting my butt kicked lol, speaking of which will you ever do a video with updated builds of the rare blades in this game? Most of of the rare blade build videos on youtube are 1-2 years old and some of their builds don't compare to the crazy stuff you do in those dlc challenge runs.
I updated Poppi and pseudo updated mythra but otherwise I didn't really bother. Didn't know how useful it might be these days
@@EnelXC Yeah i figured since Xenoblade DE on it's way, videos like that would be great for people trying to complete XC2 before XCDE comes out xD
I love these mitten squad esc videos, also for videos like this and your speed runs the post commentary really seems to me to be the way to go especially with the new mic quality
Well glad youre back now i can continue playing and by playing i mean doing vales fetch quest
When Xenoblade DE comes out, could you try to beat it at Level 1 (Expert mode allows to change your level).
I'd also like to see if you would beat Xenoblade 2 at Level 1 if that's possible.
not sure that's realistic. Xenoblade 1 has some severe level penalties, you also can't delevel in 2 except in NG+ and it's easily possible there
@@EnelXC Casual Mode basically annuls the level penalties so maybe it's possible if you're outright insane
in the video you say you dont know what compelled you to make this video, but you enjoyed it anyway. I dont know what compelled you either, but i bet i enjoyed it as much as you did! great content, this was really cool to watch through. now try and beat some superbosses!
yes. get beast slayer weapons and power level.
edit: oh drat heard your final restriction.
(Pyrha/Mythra/Pneuma all tie for top tier)
Wonderful video! I have no idea why this showed up in my recommended videos years after I beat this game, but an interesting watch all the same.
the first time I fought the phantasms it took me 45 MINUTES I just couldn’t kill them fast enough lmao
Man gotta rewatch like 30 times so many facts going so fast
This is mad, amazing run!!
You won a subscriber!
i love challenge videos like this, they're always so entertaining to watch. if you're taking suggestions on future challenges then i think an underwear only run of xenoblade de would be pretty great
This kinda brings back memory of me solo-ing the superbosses in XC1.
Nice work!
...It seems that the Xenoblade series has a tendency to punish those who don't know how to set up a build.
haha I actually have the speedrun record where I do it in under 4 hours, this was just a specific challenge.
@@EnelXC Wow, you weren't joking; I looked it up. I typically play games for their story, and XC2 is no exception to that...but to know its mechanics so intimately that you can beat it that fast requires a different level of dedication. How long did it take you to piece that strategy together?
10:31 F's in the chat for Poppy
This looks really interesting and shows the amount of knowledge of the game you have.
I still wait for the day when someone mods Kiko over Pneuma in the final cutscene.
To show the true master blade.
Can we talk about how he pulled 3 rare blades IN A ROW. Yeah I know pity system but STILL
This would be a very cool speedrun category, if inconsistent due to the random nature of blade pulls.
awesome video dude been playing alot of xeno 2 lately
Damn dude.. kinda have a new respect for the common blades now. Still gonna use my rare blade collection but damn i might look through all the common blades on Zeke(he likes to collect them..) and see if i have a gem like Kiko. Side note i really love this game, the first game was ehh and didn't like X much but this game was fun for me. My favorite blade/blades has been The Sisters(Theory and Praxis), i just enjoyed their quest and they were the first 2 blades i S-ranked. Still missing Kos-Mos and spoiler blonde man.... but thats more on be not really going crazy on farming cores..
I hear the Xenosaga music :). Good video
I haven’t played Xenosaga. Which track is it?
@@shadestrider1033 I think its U.M.N Mode from Xenosaga 1. Basically the pause menu theme.
It is! I was just playing it before watching this video and I thought I was crazy!
10:31 Mythra just shoved Poppi off that cliff.
Awesome... still not using commons during my next playthrough unless I absolutely have to.
I really need to look into common blades, this video has opened my eyes to the possibilities of commons
Enel: Does not use best girl Mythra. Me: “ HOW DARE YOU!”
