Bengaluru’s Newest Biryani Craze, Mallika Biriyani, sells over 500 kilos of meat biryanis every weekend! Mutton biryani, chicken biryani, homestyle mutton curry, chicken fry, liver fry, boti fry, raagi mudde, kothanur, east bangalore
Mallika Biriyani is the fascinating story of a computer engineer who began a biryani shop six years ago with an investment of Rs. 10,000 after a string of failed ventures. In the early days, he would procure a kilo of mutton each day, today the shop has evolved to a bustling biryani destination which procures over 500 kilos of meat on weekends to cater to the thronging crowds here. I make a 20-km trek through town to the far flung suburb of Kothanur in East Bengaluru to catch up with Venkatesh for a close look at his enterprise, and also taste the five or six dishes on offer here including his unique wood-fired biryani creation which comes across as a delicious confluence of various styles. Hope you enjoy this episode. Stay safe and happy eating!
Mutton Curry
A pleasing homestyle mutton preparation that’s cooked slowly on a wood fire, the fat in the meat renders into the gravy giving the curry a lip-smacking unctuous richness. The meat slides off the bone, the curry is a great combination with the rice and raagi mudde. If you need one reason to make the trip to Mallika, this would be it!
Rs. 180 (usd 2.4)
10/10
Chicken Fry
Made in a flavour coriander-greenchilli-coriander masala, this is a zesty chicken dish. The meat is cooked perfectly down to the bone.
Rs. 80 (usd 1.1)
8/10
Boti Fry
The boti is soft, cooked well and spiked with loads of pepper. Its only fault however, its sandy griminess on the bite, which can be difficult to get past when you are eating offal.
Rs. 100 (usd 1.3)
6/10
Liver Fry
A preparation, identical to the pepper-laced boti fry, it’s a pity the flavourful warmth of the masala could not penetrate the ‘tough-on-the-bite liver.
Rs. 100 (usd 1.3)
7/10
Chicken Biryani
The biryanis are served in large portions, there’s plenty of rice, and 5 or 6 pieces of chicken, which makes it a great biryani to share. On the nose, there’s the smokey character from the wood-fire, you can taste the depth of flavour in the rice from the spices. The meat is moist, though mellow in its flavours and benefits from being eaten with the flavourful rice, that is a mixture of two varietals, the ‘starchy’ short-grained seeraga samba and the ‘low on starch’ medium-sized-grain, bullet variety.
Rs. 130 (usd 1.7)
8.5/10
Mutton Biryani
Seven or eight pieces of meat in a mutton biryani at Rs. 230 makes it great in terms of value, and perhaps also lends to its mass appeal. The spicing and masala is identical to the chicken version, but the character of the mutton, with a bit of fat, imbues the biryani with a mellow, warming flavour note that’s more rounded on the palate. The meat is juicy, and has a bit of a bite. If you like your flavours a bit punchy, taste it with the sherva, the gravy of the mutton curry.
Rs. 230 (usd 3.1)

Kripal just wanted to add my experience ..I went at an odd time around 3pm afternoon..by that time biryani was over and there was only rice(khuskha) and even the gravy that he serves along with biryani was over..to my utter shock when i asked for gravy he gave me the mutton curry with around 5 to 6 pieces free of cost..Thanks for filming the episode there..he very much deserves...
Wow! That speaks for the reason this establishment has become so popular in such a short time. Thank you for sharing your experience, Joseph.
Great ownership
Actually this spot is just close to my place ,sometimes when the biriyani gets over or the gravy ,he gives the kuskha worth 80rs for just 50rs..!

Time literally flies in bangalore
You need a lifetime to visit all the good places in bangalore
When I was in abroad, I heard alot about this place especially their Mutton Biryani. Last February when I landed in Bengaluru airport, I asked the cab driver to head to this outlet. Tasted their Mutton biryani. It was yummy, but by the time I reached there it was almost at the finishing stage and all I got was their Biryani as all other dishes are finished. Will visit once again to taste their Mutton curry and liver fry.
Broiler chicken bro. Better avoid. Eat only naatu kodi.
Yeah its gud
Kripal Sir, you have been one of the best Orators in recent times that I have come across....your indepth knowledge of the food industry and your very simple explanation adds all the required punch to all your contents... Kudos to you and your teams for the efforts taken to bring out the best in Nama Bengaluru...🙏
Thank you, Allan, happy you enjoy our show. Appreciate your kind words.

I still remember two years back me and friend crossing this hotel, the aromatic smell of there foods which made us to visit this hotel. But it was shocking for us of there Mutton Biriyani taste was beyond our expectations and other dishes too. Must try Biriyani in Bangalore.
This episode is so unique. No mention of family secret masalas or heritage. Just a tale of a young gentleman who endears to you with lack of any pretence ( And with his yummy food, of course). I live within 10km of this place, but had not heard of it at all. Visiting the place tomorrow yay!
Happy eating, Vishapat, visit early, we are told they run out and also get crowded.
Yes the food will be over before you say Wah wah!. I live just a stone’s throw away from this place
Every Sunday, I along with my football buddies will drive in to this place after our morning session around 9am and enjoy this delicious mutton biryani and mutton curry.
We knew about this place for more than 2years, it started with a 15x40sq ft area with no proper roofing and green nets as walls. Happy to see how it has grown. The great part is to see the owner, a genuine honest guy to grow his business.
Even after having heavy Lunch, If we watch your videos. We feel hungry. The way you feel and explain the dishes is fantastic sir😊👌

I'm regular to this place for past two years. I stay on the other side of bangalore but still drive to this place for the mutton biriyani. I have taken many of my friends and everyone loved the items here.
Proof that early comments get a reply from Kripal Sir! Hope this channel hits 1M soon.
Thank you 🙏
1M by this christmas!!
You have introduced a restaurant with good ambience & local taste wow tq
I wish I had this job.. 😜
Being a foodie Ican imagine how good the food is , Apart from that, I am happy to read the positive comments about the owner which is very very rare..
Owner is more concerned about customer satisfaction rather than making business..
Both are same customer satisfaction = business good business
I am happy to listen to owners words on empowering others.
Script given by Mr.kripal
Yummy taste.....am regular customer for mallika biryani.... Must try and owner is also humble & polite person.
I tired this biryani today with my friends, it just awesome and delicious 😋 I really recommend this to all.
Hi What are the timings? Open on all days?

The owner should be on TedX, for his success Journey
Indded great owner ..he needs to do a TedEx 👏
There are food and restaurant review channels, and then there is Food Lovers TV. Starting from the professional camera work and crisp editing of the videos, to the way Kripal comprehensively reviews a restaurant and its offerings, Food Lovers TV simply stands apart. In a league of its own. No surprises the popularity of this channel is growing on a daily basis.
At some point, if Kripal decides to review eateries all over India and also internationally, this channel might become the most watched/subscribed food and restaurant review channel on UA-cam. 🙏🏽
Thank you, Aditya! 🙏🙏
Mr. Kripal Amanna, this is the first time I am making a comment despite watching many food videos. What I like in your videos is the way you capture the taste of respective ingredients (tiny spices at times) apart from the smoothest way of explaining. Your face expression indicate the taste of food, which is very unique. Also like your choice of hotels mostly small to medium size, who require mouth publicity to survive or sustain. Please do come to Hyderabad again to taste at many other hotels (Post Covid19). Good Luck.
As usual, just loved the whole video.. particularly the mutton curry
Awesome food.. Great Ambient.. And above all this.. Venkatesh the young owner took the initiative to start this restaurant and gave employment to to so many people.. We realy appreciate. Thanks Kripal bhai.. The way you eat and express our mouth too goes watery. That's the beauty of love and concern of your passion towards food.. Love u
Thank you so much, Inderpal ji! 🙂
Now this is good content. Finding new restaurants keeps viewers interested and also helps us to go there and try to it ourselves as per your suggestion. Keep doing new restaurants. Thanks and stay safe!
You are the first bangalore food youtuber..... I've started going to restaurants after your review.... Half of the restaurants I never knew before... Please continue doing the same....
I really appreciate the effort of Mr Venkatesh, god bless u sir.
Try Banashankari Donne biriyani (Srinagar, Bangalore)...... awesome taste..... Pakka Karnataka style biriyani u get there.....
What a wonderful person. wish him all the best and much success!
Kripal Ammna is the "Shashi Tharoor" of Food Lovers. Language is just too good to handle and on top of that some bengaluru kannada which gives a punch to it
This again proofs that engineers can do anything to the best except engineering...😂😝
Says who??? Speak for yourself buddy, I am an Electrical Engineer and I am good at "Engineering" too...👍
@auto seeker Better not generalize.
A huge round of applause for everyone behind Food Lovers TV. The UA-cam video content keeps me glued to the screen till the very end of it.
Kripal anna Your specialty is You taste every food from your heart and allow your taste buds to give the testimony. Keep rocking !!!!
Only mutton biriyani and chicken kabab are good here. Enormous amount of rice served in the plate of biriyani with generous number of pieces. Very nominal price. The owner has given good job opportunity to many ladies here who are hard working and respectful people. The same plate of biriyani sold in urban Bangalore will be atleast 350/- compared to their price of 260/- God bless this owner 👍👌👋💯😋
Sir your way of explaining 🙌🙌
Mouth watering for my whole family despite of Friday...
You are the professional food reviewer I have ever seen so far & your way of presentation too good..
I too enjoyed this episode, Thanks 🙏
Was waiting for this video from your channel. Nice video as usual

Good work sir , keep going , your videos makes happy as always. But makes much more happier during this pandemic situation
I just love the way you narrate, your voice & a big fan of you
My goodness what a risk you're taking to help this restaurants in this pandemic... No social distancing, no gloves, no masks of other people...great
Was happy to meet Kripal at Mallika during his shoot. Great Biriyani especially if you are starving to death.
I like how enthusiastic the owner is when explaining the items
Forget about taste or review etc but when it comes to explaining the food, Kripal sir does the best among all as a result sometimes simplest of the dishes looks yum.

You have opened my eyes about Southern Cuisine. Previously i thought that South Indian Cuisine only consisted of Dosa and Idli but because of you I was able to get rid of my misconception.
Happy we were able to showcase the richness and diversity of South Indian cuisine for your benefit, Biswaroop. Lots more to explore, stay tuned.
That owner is the example of courage n success. From business failure and with only rs 10000 he made a fortune, gave employment to women .
