As a non bricklayer it’s great to see that people like yourself and the owners of the property going to the time and expense of leaving something beautiful for generations to come.. So used to seeing standard walls built on sites.
when I was younger i used to make bricks and tiles and we used to get next to nothing for them 60 years on and I could be making a fortune but that is life for you ,nice wall and nice top on it ,thanks for the video
Wood pigeon cooing away, the scrape of the trowel on hand made English bricks, lime mortar, laid by one of Englands best bricklayers, English summer sunshine, majestic viewing, just ready to get out the Pimms no.1, then Charlie put’s on “that” music. How to kill a classic video. Re-edit it without the music & you’ll have a classic. 😉👍
nice work no slashing ,how bricklaying should be a gentle plod and everything looks good ,do you think those beautiful victorian buildings were built by 1000 brick a day slashers ? no
#jackrussell9811 Beautifully and eloquently put...🧱👍 A lot of those "profile-slashers" just would not know where to begin with a job like this. It is such a shame how much the trade has been de-skilled over the last 50 years....!
Yes they were people weren’t lazy bums when they were built they worked all day like sun up to sun down no hour for lunch no smoke breaks no slacking off crap they were laying 1000+ bricks a day and doing it perfect because if they didn’t do it perfect they didn’t get paid
I was on a job in Basingstoke in April 1988, and some Single Cant Staff Blues were discarded in a skip, and the Agent said they were £4.85 per brick with a then 8 week wait for more. We emptied a huge roll on skip to successfully retrieve them.
Thank you for removing that music from your previous videos Charlie, I'm sure a lot of people hete agree that listening to sound of the birds chirping and you laying bricks is a true delight to watch.
You're doing us lime boys a favour with this video. Too many customers quote youtube Videos. I can realistically lay 200 a day. My money reflects this abuse I am 60 and earn roughly £80 per day. Thank you.
I was on a cruise last week in the Mediterranean onboard MSC Divina. I met a couple of lads from Essex. One said he was a bricklayer. I said I watch this guy on UA-cam and before I could say anymore, he said “Do you mean Charlie” he also watches you. Small world. Hello if you read this. Robert from Manchester now living in Qatar Middle East.
Mr Collison, My goodness you are morphing into Rob Songer... Now that is a real garden wall, built correctly and very nice to see. A proper job. 🧱🧱👍👍👍👍

Are there any downsides, other than more cuts, to keeping the headers and stretchers in the same place on both sides of the wall please
Lovely Charlie, bet you enjoyed that rather than grinding out the plots. Be good to see more arty stuff if you get the chance.
Natural sound, perfect
