Congrats on the successful recon trip. Hopefully it will pay off well for you this year. Being farther inland, I have been targeting crappie with good results. My nephew and I went out last week on Badin Lake (Yadkin River-Pee Dee River) and had pretty good luck. Kept a few of the larger ones and caught several other species while we were at it. Hopefully, I'm gonna get my tow rig put back together sometime this week or next and make a pilgrimage to your area. I figure the bite should be getting hot soon. saw where a local pier to you is hitting on the spanish mackeral. Thanks for the great video.
Looks like you need to get someone to do some dredging on that 1st spot 🤣. Good luck on your fishing this year. We are planning on explorimicating the Carabelle River to see what's there (besides gators). The area is close enough to the bay for the tides to affect the river and the structure. I absolutely love the sidescan on our unit. It gives us a much wider range than downscan only.
I really wish I could use sidescan. I used to have a Helix 7 with that feature... but never used it because of the shallows. I gave it to my brother for his bass boat.
@@KayakhacksFishing Bummer, though I hope your brother enjoys it. Ours is a Lowrance, though we may switch to a Garmin for the next one. The one we have has a very wide beam and is useful in pretty shallow water. I can usually spot structure and troughs with the side scan as the coloring on the display varies from flats and as we move I can see the general shape, but I generally move over the top to confirm with the down scan. It would be a really nice feature for the device you use to have some form of side scan. I'd get one just to use it for pond maintenance and shore fishing. It would need to not be round to maintain orientation as it's being pulled, but I believe it would be doable.
I'd be interested in seeing a video on the Deeper mount. I have a Lowrance Fish Hunter which is similar. A rigid mount of some sort for it is on my to do list....
I'm going to use my Sonarphone T box 300 which integrate with the Navionics app to map my local places and find all the holes and channels. I think that will help me a lot.
Great information! But I think I would stick to my fish finder.. I noticed that you are not using the mounting straps for your PAC motor.. Did you mount them to your tracks? Is that a video to come?
Maybe I missed something. Why do you not use waypoints to mark areas of structure? If the device allows you to create contour maps then it should allow you to set a waypoint on structure. My Garmin Striker 4CV does that. I use mine to locate structure as well. I actually run a Garmin Striker 4 at 77khz and the Striker 4CV set to 455 khz which are connected to share the waypoints.
Doing a recon is such a good idea. Yeah, these low water areas change quickly, keep up the good work and show us some nice reds in the months ahead.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and keeping it simple, your videos are easy to follow. God bless and tight lines!
I really appreciate that! I'll work even harder!

I have been so tied up with a few other things, I have not been able to get out. Mid-May, I finally free up! Glad you are having success!

@@2reelyakrz481 I am jealous you can use that sidescan!

Here is my video on the flex arm mount - ua-cam.com/video/uN1BhOKKZhs/v-deo.html
@@KayakhacksFishing Thanks for the video link. It looks like I may be able to modify the Deeper mount arm to work with my Lowrance unit.

Good point. I do not need waypoints since there are plenty of landmarks I can triangulate from.
What is the pack motor
It is a new type of kayak trolling motor
@@KayakhacksFishing I found your review on it- bout to watch. Thanks
I bought a deeper chirp and didn’t like it. Drains battery on my phone. Tried it with a kindle fire. Wasted money. Just buy a real depth finder.
Sorry to hear that
