Boss Katana Tone Tips - DC-30

The Roland DC-30 was a chorus/ echo unit from the 80's that has a unique sound to it. In this video, Paul from The Studio Rats explains the controls on the Boss Katana. The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

The Original box had two outputs. One was called Direct and the other was Effect. If you only plugged into the Direct jack you got D+E (both outputs into the one). So D/E simulates plugging in stereo or both jacks simultaneously. I haven't tried it but I wonder on the Katana, if this comes through as a stereo effect? And a huge thank you for all the Studio Rats vids! Great stuff.

Looks light you are right. With D/E Direct comes out of one channel and Effect comes out of the other. With D+E the outputs are mixed.

DC-30 is one of the best effects in Katana for clean tones. Tremolo is also really nice.

Direct Direct plus Effect. Input volume controls the direct signal volume, not the delay.
