Hey! If you’re using this method for gain staging stems for a mix (like at the end), why would you use peak rather than average loudness? I thought gain staging was more about averaging (Most videos say at -18 Dbfs), let me know!
Your right, in gain staging, maintaining a good LUFS level is key, but regions could still clip as well - so depends on the situation (I should have been more clear in the video). So in this situation you would set the Affect to "Individual Tracks," and then algorithm to Loudness and set the average loudness the level you want. Now that I think about it I may do a deeper dive on this topic and different use cases!
@@imamusicmogul I would love that as I’m new to gain staging and it all seems quite tedious. Some possible shortcuts/expanded knowledge would be really helpful!
Just dealing with the dreaded Merge function today... u may be a music mogul and that’s always cool but today my friend u were literally a music savior💯 #tooreal
So please I need to understand, after I have recorded from external gears, I use to normalise the audio recorded, doing File not on Track, and than Normalize! I think I am making something wrong now…
This works really well for vocals if - Select all the regions and apply Normalize Region Gain, with loudness algorithm and set desired target level. Make sure individual regions is selected on the affect dropdown to ensure average level is applied to each region. Or if you wish to maintain dynamic keep it on track to act as a collective.

Thanks.

You fricking GOAT!
Great tip didn't know i needed this 👏🏻
Good tips Adam. Thanks!
Thank you 💯🙏💯
how do you normalize one side of the stereo file.
For example that left channel on your third region is lower than the right channel.
very helpful tip thank you !!
Wow, awesome trick bro. Thanks heaps.
Any time!
Legendary thank you 🙏🏼

oh my god thank you so much for this!!!!
Should this be done before sending stems to a customer?

thank you for this tutorial.
Damn this whole time it was that easy 🤯 🤦🏽♂️ lol thanks man
One question, how do we know how many Dbs should we substract or add? Is there a universal rule on this?
depends on what you are trying to achieve. If go gain staging the average that is the go to number is -18 (average loudness)
thank u
Hi Adam have you got any videos on how to perfectly align an accapella with project bpm. Align downbeat doesn’t work for me. Cheers
U the best bro
appreciate the love, thank you!
I tried it before but it did not work on my 10 to 20 mixing stems.
Use loudness algorithm with set to apply to tracks. Set amount and you be good to go
@@imamusicmogul yes maybe I set to peak at that time. I will try again. Thanks for tips!
How would this work for vocals
This works really well for vocals if - Select all the regions and apply Normalize Region Gain, with loudness algorithm and set desired target level.
