I think Elvis’ voice got richer in the ‘70s. I knew of David. Yes, I get protective over some comments about Elvis. Spa Guy, another great video!! Pilamaya
Looked liked he couldn't wait to get you out. He said ELVIS vocals were failing him in the last few years. That's rubbish Elvis voice got much richer and more powerful seems to me he was putting Elvis down a bit in the interview . Dont know him of course but what I've seen of him im not very keen on him. Spa Guy thanks for that. But it did seem like hard work with Mr Briggs. Elvis is always TCB
He did sound a little snorky & smiles were kinda off his list it seems, 😳 but,, well guess everyone is differant, tks for the efforts!... Elvis always 👍
Still standing my friend Spa Guy. It has been over 36 minutes now. Thanks to Mr. David Briggs for the interview and with no disrespect to him he should have appreciated you more for bringing him out of the woodwork and making him famous in these times. Walking away while talking. I didn’t like it. I hope I am not offending you but you know that I know you are the best. No smile and everything he said was about himself, saying Elvis was a micro fibre in his life. What? He might have been really good but I think that it is the other way around. We all know Elvis wasn’t perfect but who is? Elvis was kind, generous, caring, loving and handsome that gave and didn’t take back. Elvis’s voice was rich and strong till his last day. Inspite of everything a job well done. Thanks. It did seem hard work but you came out tops with your patience for us. Elvis and you are always TCB. I liked the gentleman in your interview in the end. He was nice. Thanks Spa Guy👏🏼🤗🙏🏼❤️🕺🏻
Amen to that I mean I basically watched a lot of the songs Elvis sang in the late 70s and he was almost to the point or he could sing Operatic the range in the deepness and the length of his voice was incredible
@@jeannaleemarie the opera singer, Placido Domingo, was asked if there was ever a singer whose voice he would want rather than his own, and he said, Elvis Presley!

Nada N I think Elvis’ voice was never better than at the end of his life. His gospel songs were like he knew his time was short, just my opinion though
Roy Orbison had a fine voice, especially falsetto, but their ranges and ability to sing different genres with mastery aren't comparable and I've worked as a voice coach.
Correct. And I'm a vocalist. Elvis' voice was more substantive that Roy's. Elvis' intonation was also better: Roy on occasion didn't quite hit the note spot on. Sinatra also used to sometimes sing 'in the cracks'.
I can see that I am not the only one who feels that there was something going on behind the scenes here that is meant to remain hidden, but which has led to David Briggs not choosing Elvis as the best singer and that in an interview about Elvis. His coverage of Elvis didn't strive me as friendly, but rather tense. Maybe jealousy played a part here? However, I had never heard of David Briggs before until I read about him I think it was in Alanna Nash's book Elvis. I always thought Glen Hardin was his longtime pianist. David Briggs seems to be a famous pianist too who has worked with many great artists in the music business. I am all the more amazed at his statement about Elvis' voice and about Roy Orbison beeing the better singer. Roy Orbison had a wonderful voice. With pretty woman he set a monument. But he never brought me to tears in any ballad, did he even sing gospel, rock'n roll and c&w? Did you ever listen to his version of Unchained melody and to Elvis' version which he sang in one of his last performances? He was so incredibly good that a comparison is completely out of question. As I don't want to doubt David Briggs musical expertise, I think there are other reasons, although I would almost call it embarrassing.
That's some incredible stories !! Thanks so much for sharing these stories David Briggs and Spa Guy . Thank you Bryan Dennis for helping Spa Guy be able to do this awesome interview . Love it !!

Elvis said more than once that Roy Orbison was his favorite singer (voice). That said, I would remind David that Roy didn't sing almost a thousand songs as Elvis did, arguably the greatest crossover singer -- ever. Very cool studio he's got! Thanks, B.
Absolutely. You've never tried to sway opinion, only document it. Briggs is obviously a man who isn't impressed with fame, or any famous person in particular. He's just your average everyday working man's music legend.
David Briggs is a mere micro fibre in Elvis history and he knows it. Which could explain his behaviour. Problem with most of the people around Elvis was they suffered from an inflated sense of their own importance for the very fact that Elvis befriended them/dated/married them. Elvis was always humble and generous in thought, deed and spirit. If you look at the MM or PP or anybody from then to now.....they are only known for that link with Elvis even if they were a talented musician like Briggs. Scotty Moore was a great musician and no matter where he went or what he did.....it was always his part in Elvis history that played the biggest role and what the fans and media focused on.Briggs is not in Scotty's league. Shame Spa Guy missed Scotty but Scotty totally loved Elvis. These people are only known because Elvis was who he was...not they are whoever they are. Here is just a micro fibre of people who praised Elvis' musical ability....: Etched into the grooves of all those records was the sound of an extraordinary singer with a range of more than two octaves, wonderful control, tone and vibrato and the ability to cross genres effortlessly. Record producer John Owen Williams says of Elvis: People talk of his range and power, his ability and ease in hitting the high notes. But the real difference between Elvis and other singers was that he could sing majestically in any style, be it rock, country, or R&B - because he had soul. He sang from the heart. And that is what made him the greatest singer in the history of popular music. Opera star Kiri Te Kanawa told Michael Parkinson that the young Elvis had the greatest voice she had ever heard. The tenor Placido Domingo similarly enthused in an interview in Spanish magazine Hola in 1994: “His was the one voice I wish to have had.” Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel told The New York Times in 2007 that Presley was: “… very classically orientated with his voice and diction and very sincere and wanting to get everything perfect.”: Elvis was technically fearless and instinctive in his use of technique. In his early material in particular it is as if his voice is finding and creating the lyrics as he is singing them. To really understand Elvis’ sound we have to go back to the recordings. One of the hallmarks of Elvis’ vocal approach is a combination of his large range with the unusual ability to move seamlessly between his tenor and baritone voices. Combined with his range, he has great control over the placement of the voice in the different resonant centres such as the chest, head and the pharynx at the back of the mouth which affects the vocal tone. Elvis had a brilliant ability to control the attack and ending of each note. "
Great work again Billy... David didn't want to play at the 6:05 mark in video because of finger not working properly, then at the 7:33 mark in video his fingers are moving fine.🤔 and him saying the Elvis did not sound as good in the 70"s as he did in the 60's??? He's full of it.....🤣🤣🤣

This is one of your best videos ever. I knew who David Briggs was pertaining to Elvis but did not know how much of an impact he made in the music industry. Thanks!
Uncle Dudley Hackworth was friends with Colonel Parker and spent the night will him many times. He told The Colonel about Elvis and was the one who turned him to later sign Elvis up as his agent. Hackworth being a long time Radio Announcer saw the talent of Elvis and told The Colonel about him. Also Hackworth’s Son Mike is still alive and said the Colonel tried to sale a percent of Elvis to his dad for $5000 but his dad couldn’t get that kind of money in those days without collateral. Hi Spa Guy great job David telling the white limo story made me laugh Elvis love to make people happy when he gave away things keep up the great work Joseph from NJ.....
Well he was seeing linda thompson towards the end of her and Elvis's relationship, so he kinda did take from him and probably why he was awkward in this interview, waiting on that question about Linda. Also Elvis did find out and at the end of the 76 tour, he went over and unplugged David's keyboard during a live performance.
I don't agree with the statement made about Elvis's voice not being so good in the later years. His voice got more powerful, had more depth and much richer in his later years. Like a fine wine, he got better with age!!! All you have to do is listen to his last concert to hear what he was made of. Even on a bad day, he was amazing.
We all owe Bryan Dennis a big thanks for intruding David Briggs to you so we could hear another part of the elvis story. I was blown away by this guy I could listen to him all day. I can only imagine the story’s he has to tell. Thanks again spa guy. And a big thanks to Bryan Dennis and David Briggs. Great great story’s not just about elvis.
Real people, Real stories make your videos shine Billy! His voice got more powerful, had more depth and much richer in his later years
Billy, another great interview! You continue to top yourself with your Elvis work. The only suggestion I have is that the next time you interview someone who is wearing a nylon jacket, ask him to take it off. I do realize that you probably were unaware of the noise until you played it back.
WoW SG, this guy was tough, just wouldn't give anything, It made Elvis feel good to give you something, nothing wrong with that, his guy's were not takers, because they said Yes when Elvis would give them a car, what is fame and future, if you can't share it, SG great work 😉
thank you spa guy! this was by far one of your best investigative videos I've seen. you've become a big part of the elvis puzzle because of your hard work. God bless you.
Thank you for the interview with David Briggs the guy is awesome it's unbelievable the people he's played with and I'm a huge Steve Winwood fan I think that's when your best videos
These two videos are fantastic Billy, thanks to you, your friend that hooked you up with David, and to David for granting the interview...Great stuff my friend
I've always wanted to know the layout for the jungle room sessions. Where was the piano positioned in the room? Did they bring in a baby grand or did they use E's piano in the music room and run a cable down the hall? Where was Grandma Dodger during the recording? These are great interviews. Love hearing their stories.
Another great interview , interesting to watch . I just want to make a remark here , at 12:55 mark it looks like you didn't know who the other person was on the picture with B.B. King and David and the answer is Reggie Young the guitarist from the famous American sound studio session from 1969 and that was him who played the lead on "Suspicious mind " and " In the Ghetto" among other but unfortunatly he past away this year in january at 82 , here is a link about it : www.rollingstone.com/music/music-country/reggie-young-guitar-elvis-waylon-dead-obituary-781082/
this was a great interview, people who are Elvis fans are simply not being objective, because what he says sometimes does not fit their fantasies, or self believe views of who Elvis may have or may have not been, but he met Elvis, tour with him, hung around the people who made up the so called Memphis Mafia, and if his perception of them is not flattering, maybe its because he saw them live in person and not from some created image from TV or some 2 minute news reel. This guy has been in the studio with every type singer imaginable, and if in his opinion ELVIS was an average singer, who am I to debate his experience. And as far as J.D. Summer is concern, even Priscilla has stated in interviews how his friends sometimes took advantage of him and his kindness. So get over yourselves, this man has been around every star in Hollywood, while most of you are only living off pictures of Elvis. I believe more in what he has to say, rather than what you want to believe
This one was another great one. Please correct me if I'm wrong but isn't this a repeat of part 1? It seems I've seen all this before and I know I haven't watched part 2 until now. If I'm wrong, I DO apologize. I could sit and listen to Mr. Briggs forever! The stories he could tell.....just incredible. Thank you so much, Billy, for sharing this with us. I'm grateful for everything you want to share. The puzzle is getting nearer to completion but still has a ways to go. And thanks to Mr. Briggs for taking the time to speak with you! :-)
@@SpaGuy - You are correct! I DID see part one and must have watched part 2 twice but didn't remember. I'm so sorry! Thanks for pointing that out to me. :-)
Thanks for taking us along for the ride SG. David Briggs is one of those 'behind the scenes' guys,,that has lead a very interesting life in the music industry for sure. Enjoy all the videos here. Thanks again.
Thank you again for this series. Like I said before, I had no idea who David Briggs was. Now that I do, I'll have to tighten up and investigate his career further. Take care.
This segment of videos have been fantastic.. totally enjoy the stories and hearing about David Briggs legendary background in music.. and a big thanks to the gentleman who made this interview all possible..
Mr. Spa Guy I usually look forward to your videos but this second one with Mr. David Briggs rubbed me the wrong way as a Elvis fan. To say, let alone think, that Elvis' voice was not as good as when he first started out. Elvis' voice ONLY got better as he got older. Why work with Elvis if you felt that way ?!!!!! Maybe a little jealous of Elvis ?!!!!!!!!!!! Also maybe working with many famous people went to his head just a little ?!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not saying Elvis was a saint but he was better than this guy, Mr. David Briggs, gives him credit for ! Thankful he didn't take advantage of Elvis though...nice ! Sorry, but just rubbed me the wrong way. Seams like he was not a big Elvis fan and was trying to get rid of you. You are the best at the Elvis' trivia. Thank you anyway Mr. Spa Guy for trying with Mr. David Briggs. Keep tightening up. Lord bless.
Ps.loved the bike story about Elvis first vehicle his bike 🚲 up at Graceland.we found the lamp post i to have my picture here also thank you so much my friend xx

Hi Spa Guy great job David telling the white limo story made me laugh Elvis love to make people happy when he gave away things keep up the great work Joseph from NJ.....
And after he told the story he probably could kick himself in the ass from not taking those limo
keys 🤬
You gotta respect a guy who wouldn't take from elvis. Thank you for this good interview.
He took Linda though!
I agree with you!!
David Briggs is a professional musician, no doubt about that , he is a living legend in music historie. who`s not afraid to speak his personal opinion, but I don't agree with the statement made about Elvis's voice not being so good in the later years. His voice got more powerful, had more depth and much richer in his later years
David has a very interesting musical life. Thank you for this informative video.
Thanks Brian and Billy, great stuff🍻
Billy, another great interview! You continue to top yourself with your Elvis work. The only suggestion I have is that the next time you interview someone who is wearing a nylon jacket, ask him to take it off. I do realize that you probably were unaware of the noise until you played it back.
Johnathan we are lucky to get an interview he had no intentions of doing one.. I asked him about the trap door rolled camera and kept it going..
Love hearing about Muscle Shoals - that place is on my bucket list! Very interesting interview!
There's a good docu about Muscle Shoals. Another good one was about Tom Dowd.
@@msr1116 Yes, I love the Muscle Shoals documentary. I will look up TD...thanks.
WoW SG, this guy was tough, just wouldn't give anything, It made Elvis feel good to give you something, nothing wrong with that, his guy's were not takers, because they said Yes when Elvis would give them a car, what is fame and future, if you can't share it, SG great work 😉
My last name is Lewellyn! Cool
@@wlewellyn i guess you live in Delaware to??
No in Knoxville Tennessee
@@wlewellyn any brother's or sisters
Great vid...love David' s honesty vis a vis Elvis.
He is very complimentary...but guardedly so.
Awesome interview Billy
Falou de Elvis Presley, falou do Mito.
I love you forever Elvis Presley.
Forever.... é para sempre ♡.
Obrigada SP GUY.
Great vlog! This was a major piece of the Elvis puzzle..!
thank you spa guy! this was by far one of your best investigative videos I've seen. you've become a big part of the elvis puzzle because of your hard work. God bless you.
Thank you for the interview with David Briggs the guy is awesome it's unbelievable the people he's played with and I'm a huge Steve Winwood fan I think that's when your best videos
Hi THANKS AGAIN FOR THIS VERY IMPORTANT AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO LOVED IT 👍👍💕
Great videos ,i read in a book he had an affaire with Linda Thompson in the period when she leave Elvis can you comfirm?
I don't do that kind of stories..
Doesn’t mind i read it but i luv these stories of those guys maybe James Burton someday bet he got something to tell
These two videos are fantastic Billy, thanks to you, your friend that hooked you up with David, and to David for granting the interview...Great stuff my friend
I had heard Whitney’s mother was a backup singer for Elvis, is that true?
Yes she sang with the sweet inspirations for a while
Yes ìt is true.
Yes she was a member of the Sweet inspirations her name was Cissy Houston
Yes, she was a guest speaker at Elvis week one time.
I highly recommend watching the documentary Muscle Shoals.
Great video!!
I have seen it and it is excellent..
He's experienced a lot, very cool
Briggs is an undercover Elvis hater. It’s obvious.
Hey did you know that Elvis had a house here in the Las Vegas Country Club? It’s address was 2981 Bel Air. It was recently for sale here.
This dude lost his ever loving mind saying Roy Orbison had a better voice than Elvis Presley. Smh Briggs take a nap.
This is the best pic of E I have seen in 45 years
You knocked it out of the park once again!
Took me a bit to warm up to this fella.... he seemed very guarded. You did a great job of keeping the interview going on that one Billy.
I am well aware of who Reggie Young is.. He lived just south of Nashville and I spoke with him but he was too old to do an interview..
A very enjoyable interview, great work as always.
good job!
thanks billy for your video and thanks to david i would like to meet him one day take care billy yours paul martin
♥️
A big key piece of the puzzle. I learned alot of cool things. Awesome vlog👍🏻😎
Great one mano !!! wish there was more in depth on David. What a great guy!
this was a great interview, people who are Elvis fans are simply not being objective, because what he says sometimes does not fit their fantasies, or self believe views of who Elvis may have or may have not been, but he met Elvis, tour with him, hung around the people who made up the so called Memphis Mafia, and if his perception of them is not flattering, maybe its because he saw them live in person and not from some created image from TV or some 2 minute news reel.
No they are different for sure..
Take care.
What town are you from in North Carolina?..I grew up in Lumberton..now live in Seven Lakes near Pinehurst NC.
Born in Raleigh and grew up in Ayden, Winterville and Kinston..
@@SpaGuy ..Great..Eastern BBQ!
You did an awesome job. Thank you for the vid
Didn’t bring up Linda? 😉
Nope Not appropriate..
I know brother, just teasing.
Great 👍 I like the way David tells it as it was, no spin just the facts as it came to pass
This segment of videos have been fantastic.. totally enjoy the stories and hearing about David Briggs legendary background in music.. and a big thanks to the gentleman who made this interview all possible..
I used to work here it was awesome
Top of the drawer Spa guy, well done 👍👌
thanks for another great show
David is a beast! Thanks!
Bryan Dennis is the true hero to put you in touch with this guy. I was well aware of Glen Harden and Tony Brown playing on the road with Elvis but this guy's stories were really cool. As always great work, but how cool would it have been if Elvis would have spent time in that studio? Gone Too Soon...
There is also Bobby Ogden which I have a video on and Shane Keister I don't have a video on yet..
Should be a movie or documentary on David Briggs. Just amazing man of incredible accomplishment - starting his career at 12 years of age! This is one if the greatest musical artist’s story that has never been widely heard. Deserves telling.
Very interesting, Thanks for sharing.
Hope. You. Do. One. Soon. Of. Norbert Putnam
Why no questions or mention of his relationship with Linda Thompson?
Because I don't do sensationalized videos.. I do historical videos.. I spoke with him about that off camera.. If you are looking for those kinds of things you won't find them here..
Thanks Billy and David.. Great Info from David. I had no idea! Thanks!!!
Wow what a video. You really get the people to open up.Great job billy
Actually it belonged to a doctor here that supposedly had Elvis there for treatment. It went up for sale here.
These just get better and better, how do we ever thank you for the great interviews geez...... fantastic
thank you again my friend spa guy for all hard work u put in to this for ever one to see and get to know about .best wist to you may god bless you t.c.b lovey work just wish was there with u 2 .thank u
Great interview !
Billy you did great with this video, you are classy tcb

💪✌🌟
Just when I think, what more can you come up with? Here you go... Another great video! You're the best! Thank you very much!!
Stay tuned plenty more on the way..
Thanks again!
Watching in 2020
You're a good interviewer: The way he stood with his arms folded, I thought he was going to ask you to leave. 😂 Btw, did he have a little cheap shot at JD in regards to scabbing off Elvis? It was hard to hear because he turned away and it was muffled.
I appreciate it as you could tell he had no intentions of doing and interview.. I asked about the trap door and rolled the camera and kept him going.. He took several shots and yes at JD too..
Awesome Billy spa Guy great piece of musical history 👏👍👌 👍
