At the end of season 2 Crowley's mail suddenly stuck up at the book shop's front door whereas it had been sent to his old flat for quite some time after he had been thrown out of it - doesn't that mean that the bookshop has in some ways become his new home the moment he was openly trying to protect Aziraphale from Hell's attack? I get so nostalgic with all the images from the record shop. In my days we had a "CD and record-shop". It was not only a shop, it was a place to meet like minded people. The shop owner was not only a merchant. She introduced me to a lot of great music. She knew her customers and their taste in music and her suggestions where better than any algorithm.
The record shop was created with such care, you can tell we are all supposed to feel that loss, that these sorts of shops are now almost entirely a thing of the past.
Granted we'll be older when this is possible, and likely you already have this in mind, but I'm looking forward to ... A direct concordance between fandom's many theories and what Neil writes for S3. I'm sure you've been jotting them down as they fly by - some will be a simple yes/no ("Maggie is supernatural!" "Suraqael is an ally!" "Gabriel and Beelzebub come back!" "There's poison in the coffee!") while others benefit from musing (1941 was a turning point, evolution of Crowley's PTSD [if that turns out to be a correct diagnosis] , role of the Metatron, reassessment of Aziraphale's expressions in the elevator, etc., etc.) That should keep you in business for quite a while! I know everyone would so value your synthesis, analysis, and shared bittersweet closing. And to expand on that last aspect - if Neil does NOT deliver what the fandom thinks he "should", I think your input could help diffuse fandom's frustration. Nothing angers people more than thwarted expectations and folks are just a teensy bit (🙄) invested in those expectations. Reading your work likely would help the fandom wind down. Of course if you want to chuck it all tomorrow, go for it! Thanks again for your work(s) to date.
Hi! I think you emailed me this and I failed to get back to you. It's been a busy week, lol. 100% on your last point. I've already been discussing that exact notion with my friends. I will not waste this soapbox you all have granted me. Respect to fans, but also all respect to the creators. Hopefully I will be able to, at least a little bit, give people perspective. Assuming I'm still doing this in 2-3 years, or course, but I hope to be!

"Shambles" are also a device used by witches (to kind of seize or interpret the magical moment) in Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching series in the Discworld books . And Amazing Maurice is the precursor to that series. (I may be clutching at connections, here.)
I mean it’s been mentioned before my either Michael sheen or David tenant that they usually go for the same roles. So I can see how Amazon could view them as too similar
Thank you!! SO much to think about! I love all the 'Easter Eggs'! Plus, I have an excuse to listen to new music/watch new movies.. can't wait for your next video! 🤩✌🏻🙂
I don't know if it needs to be pointed out because probably everybody already has seen it on social media, the chalkboard in the coffee shop also says C plus A, the way kids write the initials of their crush. It's kind of erased but it's still pretty clear.
Another connection with The Amazing Maurice: David Tennant voiced the character Dangerous Beans in the 2022 animated version of the story. 🙂 And now I'm watching Sonny and Cher's Good Times movie, with an eye out for potential Easter Eggs for season 3. Boy oh boy, if ever there was a movie made for creating Easter Eggs from, this would be it. I'm only 7 minutes in, and there's a plethora of potential things to include in season 3, wondering whether the Biblical story of Esther is going to play a part. So much fun!
Well, my patrons are my Gods, they grant my existence :) And it's so fun to find these little hidden clues and hints and easter eggs! (Though my PnP watchlist is at 6 movies now, yikes!)
I find it unbelievable that there was any issue with casting David Tennant. Not having read the book, my whole reason for checking out the first episode of Good Omens was because he was in it. Then I fell in love with the story and eventually bought and read the book. I have trouble believing that I am the only person that discovered Good Omens simply because Tennant was in it. I'm glad Amazon stayed true to the story line, too, or they might have ended up with the same mess as with Tolkien's work. I don't think those executives really understand the importance and power of fans. I'm so glad they picked up a final season - I really wondered if they would.
It seems someone over at Amazon was smart enough to let Neil, as showrunner, make some choices and not stick their noses in TOO much (although I know they do a bit, but it's mostly for budget reasons). Showrunners make a huge difference. They hired very inexperienced people for their Tolkien stuff which is just baffling!
I thought the name of the record shop was a reference to the fact that Maggie’s great-grandmother used to run it out of a small back room in Aziraphale’s book shop.
It is that, as well! Like many things in Good Omens, in means two things. One surface meaning, one hidden. Neil has even confirmed that the record shop name is a reference to this film. :)
Coincidentally I watched "A Matter of Life and Death" the night before cameout news about Good omens renewal for 3 season. I LOVE Good omens, and I LOVED that movie. I hesitate to watch it precisely because I new I will need it later, when I hit another bump in my life. And it happen, soo I watched it, and l was enchanted and happy again for a moment, and than news dropt the next day, and I was on the way to Heaven because of that. But, if you'll allow me, I'll start from the beginning... Last year, while I was waiting for second season to drop I worked on Aziraphale and Crowley costumes for my bratzillaz dolls for more than two months (imagine Barbie if you don't know bratzillaz - blond and redhead obviously). For each doll, I made a shirt, a vest, a skirt for Azi and pants and belt for Crowley, a coat and jacket, and shoes. I sewed all the clothes according to real human patterns, and modified them myself, although I had limited experience in this area before. I sewed everything like for real people, without cutting corners. I also made doll shoes for the first time. And I made a miniature book of prophesis for Azi , glasses and a picnic basket for Crowley , and a tartan picnic blanket for both of them. I think it turned out very similar to the costumes from the first season. I say this to explain my relationship with this series. Even for me, this level of connection is a bit unusual. So, I saw the renewal news when I was sitting in the bank, where I finally dared to go, precisely because I was inspired by "A Matter of Life and Death", and my mood and self-confidence were not in the ditch for now. I almost squealed with joy in the consultant's face. Most of my favorite things were filmed long ago, and this series was my first experience of feeling the excitement of news updates, the joy of belonging to a fandom, and the anxious anticipation of premiere day like a second communion. So I decided to celebrate the announcement of season 3 in some way, because honestly, times are not too easy for me right now, and this news made me extremely happy, and I remember events through the prism of things, and I like to buy important little things. For example, after watching the movie Barbie, I bought a pink nail polish with sparkles, because I will have it for many years, and every time I use it, I will remember a The Great Barbie day. I was thinking of doing the same thing this time, but I went into the store and saw Christmas tree ornaments in the shape of angel wings in the most prominent place. The white plastic wings are covered with an iridescent coating that shimmers between blue and gold. And they were absolutely the perfect size for the bratzillaz I was making costumes for. I grabbed the last two ornaments as if my life depended on them. I wanted to make wings for the dolls when I was making the costumes, but I couldn't think of a good way to implement the idea, and I know it's corny, but the season 3 announcement gave my dolls wings. I'm planning on painting the demon wings black, but for now I'm just very happy to have them. If I had not seen the news at that moment, I would never have entered this particular store, and I would have been left without wings. And I had no reason to watch "A Matter of Life and Death" except my bad mood and the belief that Neil Gaiman would not give bad advice. I don't believe in fate or God, but I am incredibly fond of happy coincidences. When the world works out in such a way that unrelated things become forever connected, even if only for me, and that day is one of my favorite concentrations of coincidences.
Wow, that's an amazing story, thank you for sharing all of that! I'm so sorry that things are rough for you right now, But I'm very happy that this show and this fandom is helping you through it. Your dolls sound AMAZING! Sewing is such a useful skill. I would love to see the dolls when you are finished, if you feel like sharing. But if they are just for you, that's also wonderful. :)
Ha! I saw that Val Doonican record in the shop, and wondered why it might’ve been given such prominence. He was a staple of my childhood as his music was on the radio a bit, and his TV program aired here (Australia) too. Apart from the two novelty songs being about goats (!) and a car (!) nothing really jumped out at me either.
Yay! Thank you for this! Always enjoy what you put together. Just love watching the clips from the readings. Since my chosen art is acting, I just love watching these types of things. 🙂(P.S. I also sent you an email 🙂)
I noticed that the Record Shop is heavily infused with pink. Pink is symbolically used to convey concepts like inner peace, friendship and compassion, and thus represents both Maggie and Aziraphale. But, we don't see pink prominently in Aziraphale's bookstore. So, hmmm.
The 1st Assistant Director coordinates between the Director and other department heads - lighting, electric, camera, sets, props, etc on shoot days. Basically carrying out things the Director planned with the departments for each shot, so that the Director can (ideally) focus on the actors during the shoot. It’s a lot of responsibility and the 1st AD has to be an excellent manager, give clear instructions, and know when to teach and when to just kick someone out. Most projects have no two days alike, so it’s a really skilled job.

You mentioned something NG said we were still missing. Well, here's a guess that's way out there! lol! In "Give me coffee or Give me death" I pulled out two words: give MECO ffee or give MEDEA th. Meco is a word noted as literary, archaic, latin meaning "with me". What got me was that the first example used in a sentence was from Divine Comedy. Then MEDEA is the greek story of the woman who resorted to murdered for a means to her ends with the gods on her side. So, "with me" or "murder"?? I don't know. It's pretty far fetched but fun to look into.
Wow, you went ALL the way into the weeds. Respect!! It's totally possible. I'm not quite sure how the murder fits in, unless that was the hidden threat?
@@Sendarya I kinda thought Medea represents the heaven and hell fighting against humans, with murder as a means to their ends of victory vs "with me" being AZ and Crowley. What can I say? I'm not sure if this is me overthinking it, but something I noticed with the behind the scenes stuff for The Small Back Room is that she put quotation marks around Maggie's name - "This is 'Maggie' in front of her shop" or something like that.
@@broccoli2572 Yeah, I think that's also possible. I almost added something like that to my original comment but couldn't figure out how to phrase it haha

Chef's Kiss is both a gesture, with an exaggerated kiss to the tips of the fingers, that usually means everything coming together in harmony and perfection, similar to making food.
It is apparently a running joke that David and Michael were never cast together (except bright young things where they don’t share a scene together) because they were always up for the same roles, so maybe that has something to do with that.
@@Sendarya no problem! I also remembered that during one of the interviews during season 1 they were reading comments and one person thought that David was playing both Crowley and Aziraphale bc of the poster
I figured that the voice in the background was Lindsay actually. It is a gender neutral name and having a bi-sexual character makes sense. Nina never explicitly stated that Lindsay was a female
In the German translation Lindsey is a female character. The name is originally Scottish and used for men, but in most English spoken country’s it’s a female name 🤔
@@BirgitPa I think Lindsey's name was intentionally vague. Neil was asked about the translation differences and said that it's all up to the translators, he has nothing to do with it. And other languages (at least none of those I know anything about) are not gender neutral like English, you simply have to pick a gender. It can be tricky to translate sometimes.

I remember hearing that "A matter of life and death; Stairway to heaven" is one of Michael Sheen's favourite films. So cool that you're doing a TIC 5 panel! Can't wait to see what you'll do for it!! I have a virtual ticket too and am so looking forward to it, another panel will apparently be Peter Anderson 😊 Wahoo 😈😎💖
I've got my virtual ticket as well, and I'm so excited!!! I'm sure I'll have much more news about the con in the coming week/months. Peter Anderson was one of the most entertaining guests last year. He's just so enthusiastic about his work!!
@@Sendarya that's why we love you! A voice of reason to keep this fandom ship afloat and not sink into the marina's trench of depression or drift off into the angry twitter storms (or anywhere else really)
“For the love of Jimbriel” 😂👏🏻
This is the only appropriate claim now and I will hear no other.
Ooh-- I loved A Matter Of Life And Death, watched it after seeing the poster in the shop, it was beautifully written and I couldn't help myself NOT to compare some other-worldly moments to Good Omens 😂
Neil has succeeded in getting a lot of fans to watch that movie, and rightly so, it is an excellent film!
I’m so happy that…it says MARTIN Sheen!😮
😂
Excuse me, smut war??? SIGN ME UP
Thank you for taking the time to keep us up to date on all the tidbits as well as doing these interesting analyses! Working on my own fan fiction and art and these keep me in the know.💖💖💖
Thanks for keeping people well fed on fun fanfic, too!
I just loved this News Bites so much! There are a lot of new details I wanna explore now 🤩 And I'm sooo excited about the up coming video analysis. Thank you very much for all you work, dear Sendarya! I can't wait. 💜💜💜
Thank you very much for this informations. I haven't had a Twitter or Tumblr account for years, and it's great to hear from GO through your channel. Have a nice day ! ☀️
"Shambles" are also a device used by witches (to kind of seize or interpret the magical moment) in Terry Pratchett's Tiffany Aching series in the Discworld books . And Amazing Maurice is the precursor to that series. (I may be clutching at connections, here.)
oooh, well spotted!! It might indeed be that!
I mean it’s been mentioned before my either Michael sheen or David tenant that they usually go for the same roles. So I can see how Amazon could view them as too similar
They went up for similar roles when they were really young; but have evolved differently (fortunately!)
Your videos are like my therapy, thank you so much for them ! Now that I broke my foot I'll watch all of them again hahaha
Oh no, I'm sorry about your foot! I hope you heal quickly 💙
Yep. I know I didn't say anything in the video, but if you watch, I did point it out on screen with a little text blurb. :)
Great work digging up all of those record album potential clues! Also love the patron acknowledgement by Job.
I listen to the cast reading of Good omens on Spotify and it was so good!
Your breakdowns are so informative and enjoyable! 😃 I look forward to them every week!
I’m now picturing a fan fiction of Crowley somehow being cast as The Doctor which could be hilarious.
Lol. The "can I watch" inset made me 😂
That article confirming the casting for s3 says Aziraphale is played by Martin Sheen...lmao
Michael is probably laughing himself to tears, somewhere
I noticed that the Record Shop is heavily infused with pink. Pink is symbolically used to convey concepts like inner peace, friendship and compassion, and thus represents both Maggie and Aziraphale. But, we don't see pink prominently in Aziraphale's bookstore. So, hmmm.
Nope, the bookshop is yellow....like Crowley's eyes
The 1st Assistant Director coordinates between the Director and other department heads - lighting, electric, camera, sets, props, etc on shoot days. Basically carrying out things the Director planned with the departments for each shot, so that the Director can (ideally) focus on the actors during the shoot. It’s a lot of responsibility and the 1st AD has to be an excellent manager, give clear instructions, and know when to teach and when to just kick someone out. Most projects have no two days alike, so it’s a really skilled job.
Thanks you for that inside information! :)
You know that I am always delighted to watch (and re-watch) your videos. But can I just say that the "Martin Sheen" at 1:40 had me *CACKLING*
Oh, those Easter eggs were FANTASTIC! Now that you mentioned it, there are a lot of references to sand...will they be fighting in the desert? Hmm. We saw sand in Eden...
Well done on finding these smiley faces! I did not catch those. (I did catch the C+A heart though hehehe), and yes, AD = assistant director. (I did that myself for a while!)
As always, can't wait to hear more from you. PS: I don't think this is being highlighted enough so let me spell it out again: YOUR VOICE IS SO NICE TO LISTEN TO.
Thank you so much!
Sand! I don't like sand. It's course, and it gets everywhere.....
Honestly, maybe it is a Clue, but for the life of me, I don't see how. Maybe someone will figure it out eventually!
@@Sendarya it gets into every nook and cranny, just like Good Omens does with our brains, so there's definitely a connection LOL
azriaphale and crowley passing wolfstar on ao3 is actually crazy, how my worlds collide...
I am defo Crowley, enjoying the Smut War off to the side. 👀 (I was surprised to see it mentioned here actually).
What, don't I seem like the smut reading sort? 😅 I kid. I love to help promote all areas of the fandom. There is nothing wrong with a healthy dose of loving the thing you love in the way you most enjoy it. :)

We need a Powell and pressburger breakdown !! Maybe some more theories / Easter eggs will come up :) love your vids !
It's coming soon! It's a bit of work because there's, ha, quite a few movies to watch, and digest. I'm still trying to decide if it can be one video or if it needs to be a series....And thank you so much :)
Ahhh!so excited , and you’re welcome :))@@Sendarya
Wheeeez! This was fun. I might be aging myself here, but when I first saw the smiley fac3s 8n the record shop, I instantly thought of the Walmart Smiley face from the really old commercials, lol. I look forward to your next video. ❤
I might be aging MYself here, but I always think of Bob Marley and Forest Gump, so....lol
@@Sendarya "Seems legit to me." lol
I love these vídeos, it's amazing the amount of detail put on this show
I believe Gaiman has previously said he told Amazon he wouldn't do the show if he couldn't cast Tennant.
I've got that tumblr post in this video. Perhaps he did say so, but when a fan asked him, his response was simply that he didn't have anyone else. Semantics, I suppose, but in either case, I'm glad they listened to Neil!
@@Sendarya I wasn't disagreeing, just adding info. I'm sorry if it sounded that way. Very informative video!
I cant get past the thought that anyone would think Tennant and sheen were similar. that really cant be real. and if it were me and that the two were similar I woulda dumped sheen and gotten tennant. and judging by the edits, im not alone. sorry sheen fans but yeah- tennant>sheen.
this was fun as usual! thanks
Noooo am a Sheeny fan first & foremost....but they are my favorite 'group of two' ever. :-)
What I‘m learning from that spreadsheet is that the Harry Potter fandom seems to be… an intense and consistent one, I guess?
They are consistent, that's for sure!
I'm an overthinker with too much time on my hands lol! Thank you for these videos that keep my imagination from turning to mush.
I'm not sure if this is me overthinking it, but something I noticed with the behind the scenes stuff for The Small Back Room is that she put quotation marks around Maggie's name - "This is 'Maggie' in front of her shop" or something like that.
This is just a guess but, it’s probably because both the actress and the character are named Maggie so she did that to avoid confusion. 🤷
@@broccoli2572 Yeah, I think that's also possible. I almost added something like that to my original comment but couldn't figure out how to phrase it haha
1:37 who tf is Martin Sheen?
Martin Sheen is Charlie Sheen and Emilio Esteves's father. Also an actor, not as good as Michael, imo.
Haha, clever you, from 'Staged' when Samuel L Jackson roars ' Who TF is Michael Sheen??' Bwahahaha!
@@rachelwoodard4371 But why is he mentioned as the actor portrayin Aziraphale in the text at 1:37?
Pardon my ignorance what is AO3… I don’t know half the things referred to, I think. I’m so out of touch! Also, I think I missed where you refer to Maggie as the “hand of providence”. What was your idea there? And I also don’t know what “chef’s kiss” means. I looked it up but I’m not sure I understand how it fits. And finally, I don’t know how to access the Patreon page. I’m embarrassed to admit my ignorance! But there it is… 😏

@@clarestubbs9303 as you can see, I know nothing!
Chef's Kiss is both a gesture, with an exaggerated kiss to the tips of the fingers, that usually means everything coming together in harmony and perfection, similar to making food.
@@tonaholcomb8602 gotcha. Where does this occur or matter in the series?
It is apparently a running joke that David and Michael were never cast together (except bright young things where they don’t share a scene together) because they were always up for the same roles, so maybe that has something to do with that.
That does seem likely what they meant, thank you for bringing that up!
@@Sendarya no problem! I also remembered that during one of the interviews during season 1 they were reading comments and one person thought that David was playing both Crowley and Aziraphale bc of the poster
GOAD AD, GOAD AD
is this spam?
Let's go

1920s Good Times (record company)... Don't know what the label looks like, but found this one...maybe AZ uses it as a table cos he doesn't care if it's damaged since it's "bebop"! ua-cam.com/video/utEgqi9fn1c/v-deo.htmlsi=B4h6O8WJOjltAojz
Oh, that's lovely, thank you for sharing! It is still kind of bebop, but it's much closer to Az's tastes than the others!
