People don't understand what all this is about, our world and us. God created all of this to allow for the possibility for true love to happen. In order for that to happen, we have to have free will. Free will is meaningless unless it can be used, and has the opportunity and freedom to be used. We have to be able to make our own choices, even if they're something God wouldn't want. This is why things were created the way they were. There was a risk factor involved though. The risk in creating a situation like this, was that we would actually choose other than to love God, but that risk had to be taken in order for the possibility of people voluntarily choosing to love him to happen. When Adam and Eve made their choices, God didn't immediately destroy them just because it wasn't what he was looking for. He respected the fact that he had given them this ability, and let it play out. It wasn't until the entire human race had gone past the point of no return "every inclination of their heart was towards violence", that he chose to wipe everything except the small number of people and animals in the ark. It should be noted, that we didn't get into that condition on our own; we were greatly influenced by some of his created sons, the angels. After the reset of the great flood, these same angels were driving things right back to where they had been before, so God made another adjustment by severely restricting the access the angels are allowed to have to us, and scrambling our ability to communicate with one another until that generation that had been working on the Babel project died.
All of this; our universe, our world and everything on it including us, is a work in progress. God created it all this way to allow for love that he didn't directly create himself. This is why we were created in their image; Father, Son, Spirit. God created the possibility for it, but doesn't force us to love him. It's that 'possibility' aspect that confuses people. God knows what he's looking for. Jesus said the greatest command in the law was to love God with all your heart, soul and mind. That's the clue as to what he created all this for; that's what he's looking for. To get an idea of just how difficult and rare finding true love is, look at the parable of the Pearl of Great Price. In this parable, a man buys an entire field, just to acquire the pearl. A pearl is very small compared to the size of a field. If you see the field as the entire human race, then the pearls are those who choose to love God, despite having a massive number of other choices available to them. In fact everything in our lives is the 'other' way to go, which is why Jesus said the path that leads to God is straight and narrow, and few there be that find it. There's only one way to God the Father, and Jesus is that way.
After the dreadful crucifixion, when Jesus had risen from the grave and Peter saw him again for the first time, the only thing Jesus wanted to know from him was "Do you love me?" The only new commandment he gave us just before he left was to his disciples: "As I have loved you, so you must love one another. The world will know you're my disciples if you love one another." The overwhelming emphasis on the importance of love to God is unmistakeable. And for love to be genuine, it has to be voluntary without undue influence one way or the other.
Because we have finite minds and live finite lives, it's extremely difficult to grasp the ability of an infinite being like God. Our definition of 'knowing everything' isn't the same as his ability to see everything. He created our heavens and earth which didn't exist until he made them. He then created us; a new creature that didn't exist before he made us, and gave us the ability to love or not, and choose what we decided to love or not. This means our decisions didn't exist either until we made them, but once we did, he was able to see in the future what our decisions were. He created the possibility for this within a framework that would allow it, but not let it get out of overall control. What he made, what we have is sufficient for the purposes of true love forming. So if Jesus asks you "do you love me?" What would your answer be? Are you seeking the straight and narrow path outlined in 1st Corinthians 13:4-7? The steps and attributes of love?

But when you’re all about YOU it’s hard to rationalize even other humans. Then trying to understand why God does or doesn’t do something gets even hazier, it’s not about YOUR understanding. Free will not, but omnipresent.. is that hard to believe because you or i crave control? Yes.. God is not like us, we are not HIM, only made from his image. He’s simply giving you an opportunity to take the journey, you choose the path(s).

The one thing I have learned about God is that He Loves Life So Much He Won’t Take that Life Out of Existence. Many that do not believe in God believe that they will just die like they never existed. I believe that God would much rather Live in Separation from Him than to let people just not exist. When the Father turned His Head on Jesus That Life was still important to the Father. When I was part of a Healing Team the first thing that we would bring to the person being Healed was the Life and Light of Jesus to them and then the Resurrection Blood of Jesus through the Power of the Holy Spirit bringing the Life to the Person being Healed. These Acts of God that He would not destroy Life shows How Much He Loves Us.

If he decides to answer your question then great. Just know he isn't obligated to do so. I've gotten to the point in my own walk I have no problem telling him exactly what I'm thinking and feeling even if it isn't necessarily God honoring. @@JoeBytowner the examples you cited are descriptions of historical events in the Old Testament. Sacrificing our children is not a mandate from God for all of us to do; it was a call for Abraham to demonstrate his faith that God would provide for him through anything (he also didn’t actually sacrifice his son, Isaac, God stopped him before he did it). The verse from Leviticus was a mandate from God for a specific people during that time. I don’t know how devout Jewish people handle that nowadays, but Christians are not bound by that specific legal code because Christ has called us to a new covenant with God through his death and resurrection. Description of events that God is directly involved in is not necessarily a prescription as to how we are supposed to conduct ourselves. Context matters.

A most excellent question! (If God knows EVERYTHING, why is He portrayed in so many places and times, as NOT really knowing everything, and also not being in total control? (Trying to put the question in different words). Answer: I don't know. Who does? But the Bible is NOT a superficial Book. It is written and compiled with infinite preciseness. Maybe I would liken it to a white ant colony. If you could observe this colony, at first it would seem as if it is entirely random and chaotic. But if you persist, and observe with concentration, you will find that, far from being arbitrary, this colony is highly organised, to the nth degree. (And I would guess that, if a seemingly insignificant variable were to be changed, it could collapse the whole system).
When the Bible portrays God in these anthropomorphic ways, I think that there is a good reason for it. Paul says that we walk by faith, not by sight. When I don't understand something (and there's a LOT I don't understand), I put my hand in the Hand of my Heavenly Father, and trust that, in His time, He'll give me understanding.

I think God knows everything the same way we know the possible outcomes of a fixed number of possibilities and our response depends on which one of those possibilities is actualized. If God truly offers us freedom to act then that elicits a free and creative response on His part too. "You choose A.? Then I will do X." "You choose B.? Then I will do Y." This freedom of response is a logical requirement and consequence of human free choices. Saying "God didn't know," or "God changed His mind" is like saying a teacher changed her mind to the answer of a math problem, when her student made the choice to change one of the numbers in an equation.

However, under Protestant theology, works isn't what gives you salvation, but rather, it comes from our obedience as we allow the Holy Spirit to reside within us. Because WE are the "Pintos."
That's why in the NEW Covenant, which is NOT LIKE the Old one, it does NOT rely on faulty "Pintos" (people)
In the new Covenant GOD does a work INSIDE the "Pinto," so that it NEVER "won't start" and ALWAYS "drives well."
See Jeremiah 32:40 for a synopsis of the NEW Covenant and what GOD DOES INSIDE of us so that:
    1. WE never turn away again (as in the Old Covenant)
    2. HE never turns from mankind again (as in the Old Covenant)

Flood and pre-flood world has tremendous value in history:
    - God allowed it so all the people who lived before the Flood and chose God (like Enoch) could exist.
    - Pre-flood humanity was a great experiment for us, humans, to show us the results of very healthy and long-living humans living in the world rich with resources and comfort - it showed how bad it would be when sin is present in humanity. Maximum health is not a panacea to human problems.
    - Flood as an event proves a very strong point - God can and will punish evil. He is very powerful and is not limited to only local interventions like the parting of the Red Sea.
    - The Flood handicapped human existence in a lot of ways - limiting our lifespans due to broken ecology, making us less strong - in order to contain sin. It would be horrible to live in a world where a tyrant can go on for hundreds of years without dying.
    - The the fossil-based energy sources that were created by the Flood proved to be very useful to humanity even to this day.

Sure God knows the end but He gives us Free Will. He knows both ways in which we choose, at once! God is at the point of "both points"; when i come to a point, where the road stops and splits into two directions, i have the decision to go either, left OR right. God is at each end equally and simultaneousely! He sees all sides of anything. He is waiting to see what we think, decide and do. It sounds nonsemsical & counterintuitive but only because, this is a dualistic world down here!🙄 He is still God, undivided, not split but wholly and Holy complete! It's- us in our thinking who are divided, limited, myopic, confused and incomplete. We, have potential in our choice, God doesn't need such because everything is contained, within Him! Remember, God resides in the highest realm of all, Spirit; outside of material space and temporal time. This world, down here doesn't contain all there is, just a meager portion of it; a thin slice of "the cosmic pie"(so to speak!) Don't be fooled into thinking that you are self- centered. You and this material world are NOT the center of everything. Your physical body doesn't make you more, solid and real, it only makes you less. Your Spirit-the real "You", is more, not less than you are now. Once you depart from earth, since you no longer will be incumbered by the bias of this body, you will not think in the same manner! Your body is a vehicle for learning and experience. You don't identify yourself as the car that you drive. If someone were to ask you, "who are you?", you wouldn't respond by saying, "I am a Toyota! (You are the driver of it!😉) Conversely, The Spirit which is you, is the operator of your body. Spirit plus body= Soul. You don't have a soul, like you have a name, ego, a house, a car, a S.S.# or a picket full of jingling coins. As long as you are alive, You ARE a living Soul! When yout body dies so does the soul but it's memories and life experiences are incorporated back into Spirit!🙏🙂‍↕️

Sin started in Heaven with Lucifer (now Satan aka the Adversary) wanted to be like the Most High God (that also created him), rebelling against God. God then created man in His own image and the Adversary deceived Eve who convinced Adam to partake in the sin of the forbidden fruit and by doing so turning against God their Creator and Father for they disobeyed Him and instead listened to the Serpent, thereby given their allegiance to him and forfeit their innocence stepping into sin that leads to death and needed a Saviour to redeem them back to Him. The flood wiped the wicked with only Noah found to be righteous to start over whereby the Saviour would eventually come through. This is enough for those that can see, will be able to fill all the gaps.

I think it's okay to pick people's brains but it's foolish to hear their opinion and then not do any follow-up work of your own. Re capital punishment: We live in the New Testament times, not in the OT times. We need to recognise we cannot create life, therefore it is not for us as Christians to take it, or be involved in taking it from anyone. God is the only one who has that right. When He decides it is time, He will either take one's life directly through medical issues (heart attacks, strokes, cancer, etc), through fatal accidents, or through evil people. We don't want to be counted with the evil people.

An intelligent answer on theological questions doesn't it make it the truth. The truth is that the answer has been well hidden by the nefarious ones who still run this wicked reality and leverage the real truth for themselves, to keep them in power above all else. A Benevolent God doesn't need capital punishment for a species he purposefully made to be imperfect, so they can grow spiritually from making mistakes before returning to him. The truth is a lot deeper and the answer is well hidden, in places most believers prefer not to look.

Real prove that you can be a doctor and a ignorant fool at the same time.
The book of Enoch aren't excepted as part of the bible, but now suddenly it's fine to use what's in it to justify the reason for the great flood.
If the flood was meant to kill all the giants, how did we get Goliath thousands of years later?
Whether it was to destroy evil or giants, god still failed in what he tried to do.
That's why what Jesus told John in the 'Apocryphon of John' makes much more sense.
Even in bible Jesus indicated that it's not possible for spirits to have children with humans when He said that there are no marriage in heaven and that we would be like the angels.
Open your eyes, the dragon in Revelation 12 who shoots a river out of his mouth are a reference to the great flood.
