Nice work! Thanks for the how to video. Interesting concept on the 2000-2001 VQ engine with dual thermostats. I’ve read on forums and it was dropped later on by Nissan.
I changed the knock sensor on a 97 Maxima and it was little easier since the earlier VQ engines only had one thermostat near the alternator. My GF at the time was able to get her small hand in there and place the knock sensor on its mounting point.

Hi Jules serious question, wouldn't it have been easier just to drain all the radiator fluid? I work on a lot of cars myself all the time sometimes it just seems easier to drain everything. Just a thought...
