We don't have pets, my children love animals, so we visit the human society and local pet stores and play with the kittens and doggies, we bring them treats.. it is free and it is good for the animals and my children and I. Lots of free fun available.. we are all so blessed!!!
I’ve colored my hair at home for over 30 years. My family tend to turn grey early. I got tired of having to retouch every 2 weeks so in August I quit dying it. It has been so liberating I love it! I just turned 60 and my family says it makes me look older but I don’t care. As for wearing white I prefer colored clothing over white. Plus I’m am a retired nurse and for years we had to wear white uniforms so I prefer colors!
I let my hair grow out grey, it took 2 years but I so so love it now!! You look beautiful grey.. stick with it.. you look lovely... thank you for your great information. God bless you! :) :)
The best thing I ever did was let my grey grow through. I got very frustrated while it was growing out and did in the end cut it shorter. 3 years later it is now down past my shoulder and I just have it trimmed about once a year. It’s amazing how many people compliment me on the colour, I just say it the colour god me t me to have. I really wish I had gone grey gracefully years ago and saved the thousand of pounds I have spent over the years trying to cover my grey.
Since my husband and I each were young children we have always loved to be around people that are older than us and glean that knowledge. That is something that is just invaluable. People that don't take the time to do that in the younger generation don't know what they're missing.
Our library has a clothing swap twice a year, early Spring and late Summer for back to school "shopping". It's so much fun & I always find a few nice things.
I recently decluttered the hair coloring supplies etc! 🎉 I'm happy not to have all the chemicals on my head 👍 I'm not very gray yet as I'm 53 now but I'm a grandma now so I'm ready. I wear whatever color clothes I feel confident. I cut my own hair too...free. Love my Roku! ❤
Wild persimmon pudding is really delicious. The Native Americans called persimmons "custard fruit" due to the bright yellow custard like texture when the fruit is dead ripe. It was one of the first fruit trees found in America. When the fruit is ripe, the outside skin turns black and the persimmons fall from the tree. It is full of large black seeds. Yes, by all means, wait until after the first frost to use persimmons; otherwise your mouth will pucker at its bitterness. I am blessed here in the foothills of North Carolina to have several native persimmon trees. Diane
I think 🤔 the last time I colored my hair was in high school. I cut my hair once a year, and I never do my nails or my eye brows I do that myself. It’s too expensive. I love men with salt and pepper hair so I make sure my husband knows that so he is good aging. Women now a days are coloring their hail white. lol. I think 🧐 your hair is a beautiful color! ❤Love what god gives us. Happy 🐣 Easter! May the lord protect you in your new journey!
My husband is starting to have a little bit of salt and pepper. He is the same age as me but still has really dark hair. I already know he’s going to look really good with gray hair as well. When I used up the last of my hair dye almost a year ago, I just decided I was not buying any more.
I grew up in an Italian family. And my grandmother when I was a young girl would take me with her dandelion green picking. And then she would bring those dandelions home wash them really well and make them into a salad with olive oil and I'm sure vinegar and salt and I love them still to this day I love a salad with dandelion greens there's something about that bitter taste of those that just brings back great memories.
I wear more white now with my grey. I like white florals (they hide stains and spills). I like lots of colors cool solids, such as red, solid blues pastels and royal... have fun with it!
When a friend of mine who used to work for a major women's catalog company knew that I had gone salt and pepper. She said you know you have a whole bunch of new colors that will look really nice on you. Cuz I always had Brown hair. And she said you can wear lavender now, you can wear lime green, you can wear yellow, I can't remember all of the colors that she told me but that was kind of a few of them. So yeah it does kind of open up a new world of things to wear. Because I always preferred Jewel tones, or brown.
I went natural in 2019 right before the pandemic came. And all these years later I would never go back my hair is healthier, looks so much better . I have more good hair days. I have curly wavy hair so it's just been a plus all the way around. Yes the beginning is a difficult transition but if you can get through that and hang on it just looks so nice.
@@PenniestoDollars it does , but Bonita you will love it at the end. Don't give up! You look beautiful that way. My husband loves mine better than he ever loved my hair colored
I've let my hair go grey and noticed that I like colors on me that I didn't used to think looked good at all too. Including white. I was also a very dark brunette.
I just found out that Maple tree seed keys (samaras) are edible. Even raw they are edible but bitter, but you can roast or boiled them for sweeter taste. They have carbs, proteins & minerals. Best in the spring. I haven't had them yet. The rose of Sharon is also edible.
This book had so many things that are edible, but there are also so many plants that are similar looking, which make it hard to identify. I was surprised how many flowers are edible, but only in the bud stage, etc.
Why do men never (or rarely) worry about dying their hair, about wrinkles, etc? 😃 Your hair looks great and how much fun to be able to redo your wardrobe and wear new colors. Jealous about the wild persimmons. We have lots of persimmon trees here, but not growing wild. They are expensive in the store but really good
Men look distinguished and women look old is how society has been marketed to think. I am excited about trying some colors that I had written off long ago. That persimmon pudding was delicious!
Dyed my hair for years and grew it out a couple years ago; best decision! Hair is much healthier and I'm free of that dreaded routine. The browns that were so flattering with reddish brown hair no longer looked good at all so donated them. Now I can wear blacks (and grays) that previously made me look dead.
@@PenniestoDollars Before going gray, many beautiful colors looked great on me and still do (teal, emerald green, burgundy red, purple, certain oranges etc.) Only the browns/blacks changed for me. Also, before I looked best in off whites; not sure if that changed. I bought a whole set of makeup brushes after going gray to explore eye shadows with my short stylish gray hair (now past shoulders); never used them.
Thank you for sharing these fascinating statistics about women coloring their hair and time spent on their appearance! I saw this play out in my own family. My grandmother, born around 1900, never dyed her hair. But she looked lovely all the time and she always wore a little makeup and she only wore skirts and dresses, no slacks and heaven forbid jeans! My mom and her three sisters born in the 1920's and 1930's did color their hair, I think to look younger, since they worked outside the home unlike my grandmother. It's interesting to think that men for the most part at that time didn't feel the same pressures to look younger at work and they were allowed to go gray. I also remember when the Clairol home coloring kits were first available and one of my aunts used one and it turned her hair GREEN! In a panic she called Clairol and they told her how to fix this. Having heard about her misfortune I resolved not to color my hair and I still haven't at age 72.
We have a persimmon tree in our yard. And the fruit of it is very sweet but it also has a strange taste on your tongue so I've not been able to really forage that for us to eat personally but we will pick them and give them to our chickens.
How cool! My mother-in-law said pic after the first frost when they are orange for them to be at their peak sweetness. That’s the extent of my knowledge lol.
@@PenniestoDollars yeah I might try that next time. Because we can't reach them where they are they're up too high so the only time we have access to them is when they're laying on the ground. I know this can be an unpopular opinion, and i certainly believe people should do what they feel comfortable with, but many women dye their hair very dark, and it looks way too stark and truly they do not look younger with dye.
