  • Edward Taylor plays Fanfare: Shine, Jesus, Shine by Christopher Tambling. the original hymn is a Christian praise song written in 1987 by Graham Kendrick and appears in hymn books such as Mission Praise.
This clever arrangement uses elements of the tune but put into a very different guise. The opening phrase is the opening of the verse in a fanfare-like style. The chorus is treated in a more dance like way with the tune hidden in a pattern played on the flutes accompanied by the swell. A minor version of the opening leads to a dramatic dominant chord and into the chorus again but in a more majestic way. The tuba has the last say, stating the original fanfare in the closing bars.
When looking for something a little lighter, this piece is an ideal choice.
    Performed here at Carlisle Cathedral

well played and sounds great, like the allargando. Much more tricky that it looks and the layout on the page does anything but help. Nice to see some of us still use (have to!) manual pistons rather than a toe sequencer:)

Many thanks. Rather liking Tamblings music. The organ does have a sequencer but try and avoid it if I can!

I enjoyed that - very effective. Do you prefer to use the Gt. thumb pistons, or are there no Gt. foot pistons (or spare feet)?
