- When she was born nearly a month ago, the cute baby girl weighed in at 251 pounds and was 36 inches tall.
Since then, Hogle Zoo's new baby elephant has gained another 24 pounds and is an inch taller. "She's a bundle of energy," Doug Tomkinson, Hogle Zoo's lead elephant keeper, said.

I love baby elephants running around being silly, they make me smile every time. ❤
Nothing better for mother/daughter bonding than a spa day! 🥰
There's nothing happier than a baby elephant.
Ur wrong a baby goat
There's plenty Actually
Except 2 baby elephants! Oh my, goodness! I can't stop smiling! Thank you, sweetheart!
Wrong! Me on acid, blow and weed, surrounded by hookers is the height of happiness!
Yes, very happy, locked up in a zoo !!!
What a cutie...love watching her play with her mother. Elephants are the most incredible animals.
Aw look at that little thing having a blast
Awwwww
my goodness, all that energy! Wish I could be as happy as she is. Adorable baby!
Very cute. Some greenery and a much, much bigger space would be nice. Other female elephant relatives are essential, since they are such intensely social creatures, and young ones are looked after by their mother, older sisters and aunts. I hope the mother is allowed to socialize with others of her kind - otherwise a life of isolation is terrible.
Regretfully, greenery would be lost on an elephant. Nothing you might plant there could possibly last long enough to satisfy even ONE elephant. They eat as much as hundreds of pounds of greens every day. Elephants are one animal that possibly require more acreage than any zoo could provide in an attempt to match their natural habitat. Another person complained about the mud bath. It's necessary for elephants to protect their sensitive skin. An elephant can feel a fly sitting on it's skin, anywhere that fly decides to sit. The mud protects very sensitive skin.
Yes, that is my point - elephants are animals that do require more acreage than zoos can provide. So... why is this one in a zoo which has no resemblance whatsoever to her natural habitat? Also, yes, mud baths are needed as a sunscreen for them.
I have to agree with your original post. I love love love that she is ensured protection but I fear a bit of boredom for the two of them confined to that rather tiny space. And I also would like to see a few more elephants in there for them all to socialize and play with.
Alright as someone who works with Animals that's not their main enclosure, that's just an enclosure so mom and baby can have some alone time where they are not bothered by the other elephants in their herd and the public, it's also where keepers will do check-ups, and exams on the elephants. So they are not in that small enclosure for their entire lives, just for a little while! I appreciate your concern though.
Thankyou for what you said.
Go Baby Go 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
What a little treasure 🐘🍼
Lol! She sure has a lot of energy! Poor Mom can't keep up, lol! I love to see her so happy and full of life!
Look at the bright side. All mom has to do is stand up to get relief from all the bouncing... for now lol!
So much energy yet no where to go.
That little thing is almost twice my weight wow
Better than being chained up or eaten by a lion
@@eksine i dont think so..!!😐😑😣
THis isn't their main enclosure it's just there for mom and baby to have some time to themselves to not be bothered by the rest of the herd and public. It's also where the keepers will do Check-ups and exams on the elephants when needed, their main enclosure is much bigger!
It will have an entire elephant herd, like aunts and uncles and cousins which it will soon meet. They are always so happy to greet and sniff and smell each other. This is called bonding. They know each one by its scent. It’s amazing and wonderful! But just like baby humans, animal conservationists know not to overload the babies with too much information at a time. That blows a fuse, so to speak. Easy does it, and he has plenty to learn, but a long time to learn. We were born not knowing what to do about almost anything. What were our legs for? What to do with our arms? But this baby elephant had to learn as soon as it was born, how to walk, what that long trunk was doing on its face? Where was Mama? But just watch him as he learns and masters each step along the way! He seems so proud of himself, doesn’t he? They listen to each other and learn elephant language.
It’s awesome, isn’t it? 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
There's something about Elephants that I've always loved. Thanks for sharing
OK that baby is so stinkin' cute I can't even believe something like this actually exists.
awwweee
zz
I agree, and that is why they muxt be protected from man.
I love her, i hope she;s healthy and just as happy as here.
They are so adorable when they run :)
I love it when its running toward the camera so determined and energetic. It reminds of the first old home movies people took of their toddler when it first learns to run and play.
This baby here is so full of spunk and life---- my goodness she is so cute. Bless her and mom--- and take great care of this special baby here... What an adorable face and smile too!!
Oh my,, I am in love again. How precious is this baby. And its having so much fun.
omigosh she is adorable! just like a wee toddler running about the place. so cute
I hope that isn't their whole enclosure. If it is that's really disheartening...
@@SaltyPirate71 how?
@@crappyaccount its fucken tiny.
Completely agree. They should be free
No it is just right for their immediate needs to bond safely. The veterinarians want to be sure the little sweetie is vaccinated properly and healthy before releasing it and it’s mother. They have a wonderful life ahead of them in the huge sanctuary, where they will be safe from poachers, which occurs when unscrupulous hunters and buyers want a trophy or animal for a zoo and heartlessly separates the mother and baby. You may not know how cruelly they can be trapped and sold. How inhumane one could be to convert a elephants foot into a trash can! There are fewer tragedies that break one’s heart.Mother elephants have grief down themselves to death losing a baby. The heard will be so happy to meet this darling new baby, and guard it as one of their own. It will learn to play and graze with other youngsters, but it won’t get far from it’s mother! Help save the elephants! 🐘🐘🐘🐘🐘
😍 What a precious cute baby!! I loveee her ears & tiny little trunk. Sooo cute!
250 IBS OF ADORABLENESS!!
Aww. I love elephants and this is just downright cute.
My only complaint is i want the videos to last longer. I love watching the elephant play , bath , interact with each other . Even eating they ate so fascinating. I just more of them . Thanks for all your good care and love towards them.
So much energy, less space, at least they r safe
This is adorable. I love elephants :)
So cute! I love to watch baby elephants play. I have to agree this baby elephant is a bundle of energy and so fun to watch!
+L Broderick : I love the way bebeh elephants scoot around... While the adults gracefully walk, or trot, if needed, in a more dignified way. :) Scootin' bebeh trunksters. LOVE them.
What do you think of China having babies like this kidnaped and ripped from their Mom! Do you think that China is a good place for these babies? Putting them in zoos and one baby was hit on her head many times because she couldn't understand what they wanted her to do and then she got kicks in the head! I just flew to the moon!
She is so adorable! 👌☺️
Such a small enclosure. It's like putting a human in the size of a living room, then say, hey, live there for the rest of your life, and make babies while you're at it.
Yes it may be and if it's true it would be very sad. But it can be that mother and child are seperated from the other elephants for their first excursions in the outdoor enclosure.
***** That's good to hear. I mean I don't want to sound like a tree hugging pussy, but god damn lol.
kashewz
There is no need to justify your concern. You are just a caring friend of animals! Like me. So let's hope the best...
K
Lets put it in a National Park so a dentist from America can shoot it
+kashewz : I think they keep the mom and baby in a smaller enclosure until the baby is big enough to introduce to the rest of the herd. (And when they do, I'm sure the baby's mom will be grateful for some mothering help from the aunties! Haha. That bebeh is a handful. :))
The exuberant happiness of baby elephants, one of the cutest things to behold.
"Mama, Mama, look what I can do! Wheeeee!"
"That's nice, dear."
"YOU'RE NOT LOOKING!"
mom and baby are so beautiful!!!
Elephants must be in sanctuaries not zoos
Happy baby ellie. Beautiful. 🐘💕
Please retire them to a sanctuary where they can lead a much better life.
B COE Why do you want them to live a better life? They'd kill you in an instant if you got too close. Morons like you love these horrid creations.
***** Mind yours.
Naum's right. Only a stupid person would waste time looking up videos knowing they aren't going to enjoy them and are only going to troll the comment section.
luckdragongirl Actually not trolling, and I didn't search anything up idiot, I was watching a story about a baby being abused on tomo news then got deeper into those kinds of vids, this vid popped up and I clicked on it.
Elephants will only attack if you get too close or if they feel threatened. They don't wish to "invade humankind and destroy all" like you are saying, idiot. They are elephants, not humans.
And yeah, i want them to have have a better life, because unlike you, i don't view myself as a god who have the right to take animals away from their natural habitats and lock them away for my own personal pleasure. I can't say the same for you.
Humans kill being for much less.
OMG! This sweet elephant baby is so cute! He's playing like a child and mother is watching!!
Elephants are incredibly intelligent, emotional animals with complex social structures. They require vast open spaces to live naturally and happily in large family groups; no zoo is equipped to provide what elephants need. The footage of the baby is cute, but that baby belongs in the wild or at a sanctuary.
It's a shame they can't be in wild these poachers shame cruel people

mama looks like she was doing some kind of trick there. wonder if she is a circus rescue. great vid cute lil elie
She's so cute running around I could watch them for hours.
That little one is full of energy. She is way too cute. Thank you for posting!
Счастлив тот кто заботится о слонах и их детенышей так как они все славные и сладкие!
it makes me cry to think of the countless little cute elefants that have to die because of the ivory...
It’s wonderful seeing this baby so happy and healthy! ❤️
I love elephants, they are sure emotional
Thank you! It’s beautiful.
For some reason I was expecting a bouncing elephant literally, I'm not sure how, but I was.
I live near this zoo and they usually save animals from bad situations. I watched a show with this baby elephant and she is extremely happy and cared for :)
This breaks my heart. set them free, this is inhuman
I second that !!!! Turn em loooose !!!!
@Timothy O'Mara I don't huh ? You'd be surprised junior. Free the Elephants !!!!!
@Timothy O'Mara That's complete BS! Like they need a "bonding area" in the wild... This is a cruel injustice! Boycott zoos. They're pointless, and even worse, hypocritical!
UA-cam recommended this vid. It knows I love elephants, especially baby elephants!!
Awww, adorable! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
Congratulations on the new baby elephant. I miss going to The Hogle Zoo. I have not been in years. I went there as a young child with my late parents. We lived in American Fork Utah at that time . I was born there and I moved out to California in 1977 and I grew up here.
I would love to come back again for a visit. Both sides of my family live in Utah
And now she needs a baby pool to get some of that mud off. :)
BEST FILM EVER !!! GREAT !!! THANK YOU !!! GREAT BABY ELEFANT !!
1:30 am on a snowy Montana night in October 2021 and I'm watching a baby elephant that is much like a human toddler- going constantly!! What fun!! I'm reminded of a caption from a family circus comic strip- Gramma tells mom who's surrounded by children, enjoy them every minute dear, before you know it they'll be grown and gone!
This has got to be the cutest video I have ever seen. The little elephant is a crack up to watch.
"Child, take a nap, please! Mama's tired!"
😂😂😂 the baby is like I ain't listening to anyone. .gonna enjoy to my fullest
African elephants are amazing.
I'd disagree that zoos are better. I'd say they're necessary now thanks to other humans, but wild animals are always happiest in the wild.
It IS cruel making an elephant live in such a small enclosed space for their whole lives just so people can look at them for 10 minutes.
It may just be a temporary place for the mother and her calf so they don't have severe stress from being gawked at. It's already an increasing amount of stress that she just had her baby a month ago in this video.
bellabana
PETA freak
That's why I usually look at them for like 15 to 20 minutes.
I'm sure most of the animals in zoos and circuses taste good too.

sky blue sir,i admire yr concern about speechless🐩🐈🐏🐎,innocent, animals. may God bls u.i m from India,a diehard animal lover
These sentient beings are very precious. I dislike zoos intensely, they should rather be in a sanctuary!!
At the end the zoo left us their publicity, too bad... huge animals needs to live in freedom, not in a tiny circle like this one. I like the video but I dont like zoos!! nowadays exists Internet and there´s no need to the existance of zoos or cirques.
That is so sweet. Just one month old! Looks like he tuckered himself out good.
I could watch this for hours...
+akabaker98 Yeap
She is so tiny, cute and super active 😍😍😍
Why are these animals in that small area? Real question.
Because they are living a life in captivity, not really living at all, simply to entertain humans.
Didn't like the lack of stimuli in that tiny confinement area. Could really tell they were trying hard to find something to do.
To watch this youngster full of life and hope , is uplifting , all the best for them.
Beautiful baby elephant so sad to be born in captivity. I have never been to a zoo or taken my daughter to one . don't waste your breath to those who will say ohhhhh in the wild the baby elephant might die , they feed and taken care of them fuck that shit I would rather live for a moment than long in captivity.
Get those Elephants out of that tiny zoo, you're killing them !!!!
I hate zoos, an elephant should be in the wild and if someone wants to see them they can go there. Captivity is cruel elephants are very social and have very strong family ties which these elephants are missing out on. The mother and the baby have been separated from the rest of their family.
You realize that just by them being in the wild, the possibility of her baby being taken away or killed by poachers is extremely high? And has it ever occurred to you that there may be other elephants at that place and that they were taken out separately so that it won't cause stress on either of them since they have people gawking at them constantly?
Hikari Angel elephants in the wild are not stressed out by tourists. there's thousands of square miles for them to roam free. if youve ever been in an African national park you would see first hand how relaxed they are because theyre protected. and saying they should be taken into captivity to avoid poaching is as stupid as saying someone should be locked up in prison in case they get murdered someday!
There are many animals that are endangered that are being saved now because of captivity. Zoos aren't the best, I can agree with that, but reserves or sanctuaries shouldn't let go of animals in danger of being killed. Majority of the last rhinoceros in the world were recently sent to be kept in captivity on a reserve in Australia because of it. Elephants should be out in the wild, but those that can't maybe because of some illnesses or injuries, leave them be where they have a good chance of getting better. And just some news for you, national parks don't stop tourists either. A friend of mine recently went to one as a graduation trip. Several trucks drive by there all the time from tourists according to her. I also can't even count the amount of videos people have taken in those national parks as well
Also, Elephants and other animals are only protected in the parks in Africa; where there are tourists; if they don't roam outside of the area. And the same as if they are in the parks then there are poachers that are still getting into the parks to kill the elephants. Most zoos now have so many strict regulations on them. Also the elephants are changed through out the day by replacement elephants, so they do have others on the property, at least, at our zoos. They've got plenty of food and water and plenty of room or roam. Another thing is that it is documented that most animals in captivity live years and years longer then they live in the wild. I'm not saying that they should all be taken out of captivity and if I ever see a zoo that isn't running by best strict standards, I will be the first to turn them into the the City, Department of Zoology and every other department that is supposed to be looking out for our animals. Trust me that if the Elephant wanted out then they would be busting out all the time. Sure the ones we get are the sick ones brought back from near death, they get nursed back to health and then they have babies. Not long ago the there were no strict regulations but that God for animal activist who have helped to look out and speak for these animals. I personally know of one Zoo that was shut down and the first to get out of there was the elephants. God Love them because I know all of us here do except for a few crack head that don't know their asses from a hole in the ground.
That's SOOO sad but true. They all stick togather in the wild..:D. They r so compassionate
SET HER FREE SET HER FREE SET HER FREE.
A beautiful creature, and by the look of them both they seem very happy in the zoo.
I hope her debut is as good as the video
ELEPHANTS ARE INCREDIBLE 🐘🐘🐘🐘
due to the fact that the ban on elephant hunting has been partially lifted and there is a tremendous amount of poaching, elephants are bound to become extinct in the wild by 2025. there is one elephant being shot every 15 minutes, mostly for ivory which is being consumed on asian markets. when they kill an elephant cow they often leave the calf alive. rescue missions such as the sheldrick trust in kenya look for these orphans and try and nurse them back to health. the problem is that elephants are extremely sensitive and these calves often die from the mental pain of witnessing their mother's slaughter.
WOW, so full of energy and a ball of JOY!! :)
I was very happy until the word "zoo" came out...i am sad😢
Oh la la Muah They will also never have to face the business end of a poachers rifle... So there's that. But I agree. I wish they could be free...
Elephants are calming creatures. Especially the babies.
Feeling 'blue'? Simple remedy~ watch some baby animal video's! Feel better now don't you? HEEEE
I've never watched another vlog and seen this ENERGY with baby elephant before. :) CUTE!
close all horrible zoos and let all animals move to reservations where they have a lot of natural space. The people clicking like on videos like this should be ashamed of themselves. There is nothing to like about animals living like this.
Sweet, and so much energy. What a delightful little baby.
even animals can suffer from ADHD
Ah I remember the time when having joy and bountiful energy was positive and not called 'suffering from ADHD'
Yes yes the great times before the brain wash of the masses by the pharma industry
What is ADHD? Sorry,i talk in French, so sometimes i don't understand somes words etc.
Caevyr Thanks

The big pharmaceutical companies discovered the profit to be made if the psychological community could diagnose childhood as a mental disorder. So the American Psychological Association set out to give it a name and they came up with "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder". Now big Pharma, in conjunction with the psychological community, are reaping whirlwind profits at the expense of children who wish nothing more than to have a childhood which is unfettered by daily drugging.

Well, that all depends on whether one lives in the United States or France.

LOTS of money to be made in over medicating kids.
Wow,absolutely precious and priceless little elephant
Too bad she'll likely never see the outside of her prison cell, er I mean zoo pen.
Omg. The cuteness of that little thing is ridiculous ❤❤ Be nice, humans. Those creatures are amazing and have just as much right to be here as we do. If not, more. It costs nothing to be kind.
not a good area for them. zoos that dont have the space and enrichment should n o t have elephants!!No wonder this is the first time after 90 years...and what kind of a "bath" was that?
I agree. The worst zoo I have seen where they kept elephants was in Seoul, South Korea -- the entire enclosure was full of hard concrete surface! And the people who were taking pictures seemed to have no clue about the natural environment suitable for elephants. I felt so disturbed. I was never a big fan of zoos before that, and I have never been to a zoo anywhere since that visit, more than 10 years ago.
Ramkumar Perumal yes,those poor animals
Zoos are updating their enclosures for elephants that has much more room and allows for them to have all of their needs met.
But there are bad zoos as well as good ones
Naomi Ander true, but the only fitting place is an Elephant- Sanctuary
Ramkumar Perumal best zoos I've ever been to was in Arizona, USA, closest thing I've seen to a zoo... safari. They laid it out great so the animals had optimal space to roam and have fun and the guest had minimal walking times. Sadly no elephants, but it would have been the perfect place for them.
Congratulations! What a cutie pie!
Sad them being captive you guys don't even give them access to a lake or any form of water they can enjoy? They have to resort to laying in the mud?
Whats sadder still is to see idiots like you go out of your way to look for shit to be sad about.
+Le'Monjello Jones Sadder? Lol You fucking inbred imbecile go get an education before you try to communicate with adults.

Winters So sad...They usually live with their families with a matriarch socializing, travelling together and defending each other.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
Simply beautiful!!! Thank you, for taking the time to share this amazing video of such an amazing creature as this little angel who will hopefully light up the world even though she will be behind bars for the rest of her life....
Elephants live in the wild....not a concrete zoo.....free elephants in the first place
such an adorable baby elephant i just want to give it a big warm hug
please free them
Then poachers will kill them for their ivory tusks.
So arrest the poachers, duh.
They can't be feed into the wilds of their homelands they were kidnapped from, to begin with. They can be freed to a sanctuary built with the specific care needed for the rehabilitation of zoo and circus elephants. These elephants have so many medical conditions that it takes expert veterinarian care and the loving care of persons devoted to their wellbeing. Yes, it would be wonderful too if we could just kill the poachers that are slaughtering all these precious lives or the ones kidnapping their babies after slaughtering the families.
They would free them, if you can get rid of all poachers everywhere first.
once they have been raised in domestic environments, it is dangerous to send them back
I just wanna hug her ♥️
stop animal captivity
Sure. Commenting on UA-cam would help.
Nah.
This is so cute and the music is perfect!
Release those elephants back to the wild, and let mother nature takes care them.
And let poachers shoot them , get a life man
@@sphansel3257 I agree!
They're safer here than in the wild unfortunately 😕
That wee little babe can really get around! Very cute.
Not born free.
Such a cute little tyke!
She needs more space, and a whole family group, Elephants should never be isolated from a healthy family group
Boycot zoos!!!
Too much cuteness and energy for such a small place. I agree with some of the other comments. Elephants need lots of space.
Take them to the wild that's where they belong not in circuses
Yes, where they can be butchered for their ivory tusks.

Now tell me which one has a chance of saving elephants?
how do you think dogs and cats and other animals feel? They get dragged around everywhere and most live in cramped yards and homes. Will you free them too?
Tommy Rex, dogs and cats are not wild animals. They’re domesticated.
In this video, the baby elephant looks exactly like the photos at the hogle zoo website, because she was just born back then. So cute for an elephant
